Amazing Deal for What you get. BUY THIS RIGHT NOW
I actually bought this just for the minis and battle maps. I'm going to use it for a custom D&D game revolving around Bounty Hunting in space. I love it though! The miniatures are extremely detailed and the cardboard maps are really awesome! Plus, there are FIFTY miniatures in this box! What an amazing deal. The boardgame itself also looks really fun and I may play it one day. Please keep in mind that this is not the kind of thing you can just crack open and play though. There's quite a bit of assembly. BUT, if you love assembling and painting miniatures like I do, then you're going to have a blast with this set. Honestly, the best value I think I've ever gotten on anything revolving around miniatures.

Three Stars
Nice models on the cheap. Using them for Mantic Games' Kings of War and Deadzone.

I returned this product to Amazon. It was one of the first Cool Mini or not games and as such had a major packaging flaw. The boards were the same size as the box and as such all of the board corners got crunched, bent. Plus assembly required on the minis. I say pass.

Decent quality miniatures that need painting and assembling, game is dead however.
I got this for the miniatures, and for the price, it was a pretty good deal. As for the game itself, the rules are a little fiddly, but the game components are still beautiful and marvelous in their own right. For the minis, the quality is simply "okay," definitely better than just a hunk of misshapen plastic akin to dollar-store army men, but not quite as good as, say, Games Workshop's miniatures. They do come disassembled and unpainted, so if you're not really into miniatures and building them, then this probably isn't really for you.The game board comes in about 3 large, double sided, fully illustrated tiles that are cardboard stock, and are very hefty and sturdy. Overall excellent, high quality pieces. The rule book is fully illustrated with color, and respectably thick enough to contain both the rules and lore for the planned universe McVey studios had intended for this franchise. You also get some dice, cardboard stock game tokens, and detailed bases for the miniatures. In all, this box is a steal at $40. It is quite sad that this game never really took off, since it had a lot of potential, but from what I've heard about its disastrous kickstarter and the backlash over certain aspects of the game, perhaps it's best to let old ghosts rest and appreciate the sheer amount of decent quality minis you get for the price.

If you play HALO - think flood
Great idea, great game. This game comes with plenty of models and you will need to get model glue and spend some time getting them put together to play. I enjoy the modeling and painting so this was a bonus for me, but others should be aware that you can not play it right out of the box. The rules are well laid out but the concept of the game takes a little getting used to. The Vanguard and the Strain play very differently. Once we (son 11 and I) tried out the rules on the first scenario it was a little slow going, but the second game just flew as we had the concept and mechanics down. Great game. Replayability is high due to the way the Strain can be played. There is also a series of scenarios that can be played out as well as a system for generating random games. Overall a great product.

Building the miniatures is a nightmare
I read the reviews about the difficulty of assembling the miniatures and I didn't believe them. "Oh, I am a more experienced board gamer. It should be no trouble for me", I thought. After ordering the game and opening it I can confirm these miniatures are a nightmare to assemble. You have to super glue all of the small pieces together and many of them do not fit in their sockets correctly. As far as I can tell, there is no instructions included in the box about how to build them either so you are left to figure it out yourself. Honestly I haven't even been able to play the game yet because I've been trying to assemble the miniatures. There are also a ton of pieces that have extra plastic on them that prevent them from connecting together properly, so bring an exacto knife when you go to assemble them.Just keep in mind that you are going to spend hours, if not days, just assembling the miniatures. I will update this review whenever I eventually get to the game play aspect of the game.

Cool Game, Very Cool Minis
I bought this game primarily for the cool miniature monster designs, and I was not disappointed. These suckers are beautifully detailed, and appropriately creepy. The game isn't half bad either, though it's hard to get people into it when all they really want to do is play with the neat little plastic toys!

Interesting Game
Far better than the bad press gives it credit for, the miniatures are excellent, and the rules are serviceable! Well worth the money!

Good price bad rules of play
Miniatures are great, board game very good quality. Game itself is poor, and not very fun.

CMoN wishes it could forget this game.
For CMoN first IS game there were definitely some lessons learned here. The minis are pretty bad compared to what was based in a company that made great models and what is expected from them nowadays. The rules for this game were also not very good. The campaign is not a series of linked games where characters can grow. Bought it cheap and resold it afterwards.
