HOMER: The Iliad & the Odyssey (Deluxe Hardbound Edition)

I remember reading the Odyssey in high-school, but I don't think I ever read the Iliad. Finding both books in one for under 40 bucks seemed like a bargain to me! Plus the book is beautifully bound! The gold paint on the pages makes the corners kind of stick together so you gotta be careful not to tear the pages when reading. All in all a great buy! Would buy for anyone who loves Greek and Roman mythology.

Beautiful book, looks great on the coffee table, & great read. However, it was difficult to turn/separate pages, due to outer gold coloring thereof.

I got this as a gift for my wife and she loved it. An awesome story as well.

The book came in excellent shape. This translation is easy on the eyes although I prefer the Greek names of the gods rather than the Roman names used in this translation (just a personal preference). Shipping was fast (2 days). I like that the book comes with a built-in lace bookmark.

I bought this book to keep on my coffee table as decoration. It looks so nice. Everything about it looks elegant. Perfect for coffee tables or bookshelves. Will definitely be buying more books like this.

The book itself came slightly damaged. It's got obvious wear and tear, marks and scratches. Ordinarily that would really annoy me. But it is still a beautiful book. And the wear and tear just means I can comfortably read it without worrying about damaging it. It's a classic. It's meant to be read and loved. So I dont need to worry about damaging it anymore. Thank goodness it's too pretty to hurt unless it comes with a few flaws to start with. It's a book all about damage so maybe the wear and tear is fitting. It's a great price but if you have time I still recommend buying from a local bookstore or Barnes and noble. Oh but the crisp sound it makes when I turn each page LOVE IT!

O livro, anunciado como uma edição de luxo, nao é mais do que uma edição em capa dura bastante simples. Nao se deram ao trabalho de plastificar ou envernizar a capa do livro. O livro chegou com uma batida na lombada (na quina) que descascou o papel da capa! Compro muitos livros na Amazon, que reputo como uma empresa seria, mas dizer que isto é uma" edição de luxo ", é uma inverdade. Ediçoes como os livros da Martin Claret, Antophagica, Companhia das Letras e outras, sao mesmo, algumas delas, ediçoes de luxo, livros para ler, guardar, colecionar,mas nao este que comprei agora. Como ainda não li esta edição, espero mesmo que a tradução seja tao esmerada como diz a Amazon. De ultimas, dou valor a uma edição caprichada porque considero que os livros fazem parte das nossas historias de vida, então o CONTEUDO e a apresentação dever ser os melhores!
