It does indeed work as advertized
I was skeptical that this would work, but now after 2 and a half months of adding it to our Australian Cattle dog's dinner each night there is essentially no plaque on her teeth at all. We've had to have her teeth cleaned twice in the past 5 years but now she is 12 and the idea of sedating her for that was not what we wanted to do. This product works. It worked slowly - not an immediate result - but it does indeed work as advertized.

Product ACTUALLY works
This actually works!!! I have tried multiple things before but this is THE BEST. Stopped little dogs butt breath and noticeably decreased plaque build up in all 3 of my dogs. GET IT and you won't regret it.

Works good! Not a substitute for brushing.
This stuff isn't gonna work miracles as a substitute for actually getting your dog to chew their food and use their teeth, but it is a noticeable improvement to their plaque and breath even so. It's an addition to help their teeth, but it's not a substitute, if that makes sense. My dogs hate teeth brushing; I got them older and they hadn't had it before. So I use this, dental chews, and other lick things with fluoride in them to keep their teeth in as good of shape as I can manage. At the end of the day, convincing your pet to slow down and chew their food is the best bet to healthy teeth, and slow feeders are good for that, and dental chews, but I have two labradors, who see food and immediately lose all reason, so other stuff like this tarter stuff is needed. It does help, but it's not going to replace the need for being mindful of your pet's teeth. It does have a strange smell. My dogs don't mind it mixed into their food, but they're labs, and that breed eats anything. A picky eater might be wary. My biggest complaint though, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is the container itself. Its so tall and narrow-- smaller than the photo makes it look-- that it's hard to get the stuff out once you're halfway through the thing. I ended up buying another container to just dump the stuff into, but it sucks to have to do that when I'm already paying 20+ dollars for a pretty small thing.

It really works!
This product is amazing! I have 2 Old English Sheepdogs that are 9 years old and had tarter on their back teeth and canines. In a month their canines are completely white and the back teeth the tarter is melting away! The same with my 9 year old Chihuahua! I wish I had found this product years ago. Buy it. You wonโt be disappointed.

PLEASE USE WITH CAUTION! Especially animals with ANY thyroid issues.
I'm actually not certain what "star" to give this...I do believe it probably has benefits to some animals, but I really caution pet parents to research supplementing this to their pets, especially if they have ANY kind of thyroid condition. While the label advises against supplementing this to dogs with hyperthyroidism, the website for the company actually says any thyroid condition. My dog Max is HYPO-thyroid, and is taking a thyroxine supplement to control it. I believed, since the label only stated caution with hyperthyroid dogs, it would be safe for him. Come to find out that this seaweed meal is Ascophyllum nodosum (found that also on the company's website), which is also known by other names such as egg wrack, rock weed, and bladderwrack. It has a lot of iodine in it, which is what affects the thyroid, which historically is supposed to make the thyroid overactive (hence the admonishment to avoid with already hyperthyroid animals). But recent research has found that large amounts of iodine can actually also have the reverse affect and slow the thyroid down (hypothyroid). It appears there is still a lot to be learned about iodine and the affect on the thyroid. Unfortunately, it seems to have had very negative affect on my dog, creating an autoimmune response that is potentially life-threatening. Ascophyllum nodosum also has high immunostimulation properties, which is great for those who need it. But it appears to have possibly created a situation for my dog in which his immune system started attacking his red blood cells, caused a severe anemia, and has already had to have one blood transfusion. They are going to have to start him on high doses of prednisone and multiple transfusions to get his body to stop killing the new red blood cells. The only thing that was different in his surroundings/food/life was this supplement. This seaweed is also vulnerable to absorbing heavy metals from the surrounding waters it is harvested in - lead, zinc, etc. Please be cautious when administering this your pet, and always consult your vet, PLEASE. I am just sick that this is the likely cause of my dog's life-threatening anemia.

Works Well for Dental Health, but Not Without Drawbacks
Iโve seen some clear improvements in my dogโs teeth since using this dental supplement. His plaque buildup has reduced noticeably, and his teeth look cleaner and whiter overall. Iโve also noticed better breath quality, which is a big plus. In terms of effectiveness, I can see why some customers say itโs even better than professional cleanings at the vet because it really does make a difference. However, itโs not perfect. While some dogs seem to tolerate it with no issues, mine had a bit of diarrhea during the first few days of using it. It eventually settled down, but itโs definitely something to watch for, especially if your dog has a sensitive stomach. The smell is another mixed bag. Some say it smells great; personally, I find it a bit unpleasant, though my dog doesnโt seem to mind. As for the price, Iโm on the fence. It is expensive, but if it helps avoid frequent vet cleanings, I can see how it might save money in the long run. Still, for what you get, it feels a little overpriced. Overall, itโs a decent supplement that delivers real dental benefits, but the potential side effects and high cost keep it from being a perfect product.

First Order
My dog is a rescue, he's almost twelve and has never had dental work done. Mainly because it's incredibly expensive. Second reason is because by the time we found out he needed work done he was already "too old" to take the risk for putting him under. His biggest issue is arthritis, but he has horrendous breath. He loves chew bones, but has sensitive gums, likes getting his teeth brushed, the teeth wipe things (because they're minty, and he loves mint), we've even tried doggie mints. My husband and I ordered this, along with enzymatic toothpaste and a toothbrush, and Musher's Wax. We already knew our baby boy loves seaweed, it's one of his favourite treats. But right now he's so excited to eat his food he either hovers or starts eating while I try to avoid spilling the PlaqueOff on to the carpet. We also decided to give him two scoops a day for the first two weeks, just to increase our chances of it working out for him. His breath, despite us only using this for three days, has already gotten better. I'll update further, after two weeks and then two months, with the addition of brushing his teeth after the two week mark. But he really likes it, so does my cat. She also loves seaweed, but we don't feed it to her because she free feeds and would never reach the bottom of her dish. Puppy licks his bowl clean. He also consumes dry food, from Blue Buffalo (it's the grain free senior chicken one, because he's also grain sensitive and it keeps him from breaking out in hives), and rarely consumes wet food except as a treat around the holidays. He has no problems eating the two of them together. I imagine this will last us about four and a half months, since the 60g bottle says it should last for six months at his weight class. We'll most likely order the 120g bottle after this one is over. You can see that on Chewy if you need more information about this product. I did my research on multiple websites to see if this would be a good fit, I'm glad I bought it. EDIT 2 WEEKS AND 4 DAYS LATER;; RATING CHANGED FROM FOUR STARS TO FIVE We just brushed Toto's teeth and two medium sized chunks of tartar build up just popped off of one of his back molars! His tooth was still intact and not at all rotted, it was even white! I'm so impressed with this product, I highly recommend it to pet parents who can't afford an actual dental cleaning for their dog. Yes, it has made his poop softer (so does grain) but he's only had a very minor bout of diarrhoea, and that's because he stresses himself out sometimes. He is still really excited to eat his breakfast and dinner, we're going to stick with twice a day until he's finished this bottle. Maybe even just stick with twice a day period because he absolutely enjoys eating again. I couldn't be happier. My husband and I will definitely keep ordering this. P.S. His breath smells a little like seaweed now. It's not the most pleasant but it is definitely better than before.

Mo Hasn't Had Teeth Issues While Having PlaqueOff for Nearly 9 Years
This was suggested to me by a professional dog trainer about 9 years ago. Does it help my dog's teeth? Couldn't tell you. I've had Mo for nearly 11 years since adopting him when he was maybe 2 or 2 1/2 years old. At his first annual checkup, his vet suggested I consider scheduling a teeth cleaning. She gave me an estimate of $1,000 to $1,500 for the procedure because it would involve sedation, and the higher range was in case she came something unexpected that might require extraction. Later that day I ran into my dog-trainer friend while we walking our dogs. I told him about vet's suggestion and estimate. He recommended PlaqueOff. He said someone suggested it to him under similar circumstances. After initially doing his own research about the product, started adding it to his dog's meals, and his dog hadn't had any dental issues since. Based on that recommendation I ordered PlaqueOff through Amazon, and consistenly added it to Mo's meals. At Mo's next annual checkup, the (same) vet did not make any remark about his teeth. When I specifically asked how his teeth looked, she said good. I've never attempted to brush Mo's teeth (despite buying a teeth cleaning kit when I first adopted him), and I have never taken him to the vet for a teeth cleaning. There are only two things I routinely do for Mo's dental care, which I have been consistently doing on a daily basis for at least last 10 years: 1. I sprinkle 2 heaping scoops of ProDen's PlaqueOff on his morning and evening meals of kibble (using the small smidgen-size scoop ProDen provides); and 2. giving him a morning dental treat, which for last many years specifically has been Amazon's brand and Amazon's previous Wag brand name for the same product. At Mo's recent check up, his (still same) vet suggested for the first time in 8 years I consider scheduling a teeth cleaning. Bottom line: Thankfully Mo has not had any dental issues (can't say same about myself during last 11 years) without doing anything for his teeth other than what I described above.

Seems to work well to whiten, brighten and hinder plaque development
I've waited to review this product until we'd used it daily for a month. The left photo shows my dogs teeth before and the right photo shows after one month of use. Positives - his breath does seem to be nicer, he doesn't mind the taste of it and he's notoriously picky, it's actually quite affordable because despite the initial cost being high you use so little that a single jar will last many months. No further plaque has developed. I think his teeth are a little whiter and brighter. Negatives - so it's not a cure all. The amount of plaque hasn't really changed all that much but we also bought an ultrasonic cleaner and he has a toothbrush to use as well. We'll launch into that now but I really wanted to use JUST the plaque off product for a month to see what happened before I muddied the results with other products. Possibly great long term to avoid plaque development but you should probably start with a full dental clean as it doesn't make a huge difference to already developed plaque. Ultimately I think this is a great addition to your dogs dental hygiene routine but it's not a cure all - especially if the dog already has developed plaque. I'll be really interested in the long term results now once we get the a full dental clean as to whether ProDen continues to make a difference in plaque development. We'll continue buying it.

Almost all hard yellow plaque gone in 5 months.
Writing this review after 5 months. Dog used to have hard yellow tartar all across the back 2 teeth. With 5 months of usage + brushing thrice weekly with average tooth pastes itโs gone down to the picture attached. Itโs a small tub of product but I would continue to purchase once the tub is empty.

It works!
Ive had this product for a few months now. I bought it as my dog was extremely resistant to having his teeth brushed and the dental chews I was buying for him were only providing temporary relief, while not dealing with the main issues which was bad breath and plaque build up. After doing some research, this product came up in several places so I figured id give it a try. In fairness, I was initially disappointed in this product. Even after a month+ of use I saw no change in my dogs breath or his oral health. THis was even after attempts of scraping off the plaque myself which some people had recommended. I had even gone to the vet during this period where it was strongly recommended he have a professional cleaning. I decided to 'double down' on this product before resorting to an expensive surgery. I increased the amount I was giving to my dog (as his weight allowed for 1-2 scoops, and i was initially only giving 1 a day as I wanted to see how he reacted to it) and i began using it in conjunction with coconut oil which I would rub on my dogs gums. After only a few days of this, I went back in to scrape, and it worked! The plaque began coming off in chunks, with not much effort (save and except getting my dog to stay still, of course). All that said, I am SUPER content with this product. It seems as though given the amount of build up that it required some months of consistency before the plaque would begin to chip off - also the max recommended dosage. I am not sure whether or not the coconut oil was a key player in this as well - but thought I would mention in case others find same to be help. I am confident moving forward with continued use of this product now that I have gotten most of the plaque off that we will not see that build up again. ALSO - while the product seems to be minimal, a little goes a long way. After about three months of almost daily usage I still have half a bottle left.
