My grandson had a blast watching them as they progressed and transformed. Great alternative to toys and goid learning oputunity. Worked just as described eventhough we didn't open until a few days after receiving it.

A good educational fun. The netting was durable material. The kids loved watching the butterflies emerge and letting them go in the garden.

We received our 5 pink lady caterpillars, 4 successfully attached to the top and turned to chrysalis’s, one caterpillar fell or was knocked down. I left him and he still turned to a chrysalis. I did some research and hooked it to a q-tip and taped to the top. He did turned and did attempt to emerge, however he had difficulty emerging and his wings ended up drying crumpled. I tried to assist but by the time I realized what was happening his wings had already dried. I had a butterfly wing expert once tell me I could either keep them and feed them if they cannot fly or place them in the freezer as it humanly freezes them quickly and painlessly, that is what I chose to do. The other 4 had no issues and were successfully released after about 24 hours. ♥️

I received items. All the caterpillars were not moving. I waited over the standard days to see if they would start to move. They were dead. I followed the next steps to contact customer server and provided pictures to show they were dead. No response. After 2 more weeks I emailed support again. They wanted pictures again. Well, I have since deleted them and threw the dead bugs out. They will not look for the previous email nor provide new caterpillars. There are better companies to use to get caterpillars from. I've never had them not moving when they arrive from other companies either. I would return everything else, but the enclourse and other accessories it comes with are nice.

We loved how easy and straightforward this kit was... no special skills required to set up, etc. The only challenging part was transferring the lid with chrysalis on it to the holder/stand in the tent, there was no way we could orient it without one or more of the chrysalis laying flat on the base. We were concerned this might affect the development of that butterfly, but nope, it came out just fine like the others (we had 6 total). Two things we were very surprised by: 1) when moving the lid to the tent, despite being very gentle, a couple of the chrysalis began vibrating rapidly and making sound (bouncing against the now-vertical lid)! We were concerned this was a bad sign or we'd done something wrong, but eventually they settled down and seem to have been unaffected by this disturbance in the long-term. 2) When the butterflies emerged from their chrysalis, a couple of them left notable red splotches of fluid on the lid and/or tent floor (not sure if it's "blood" or just some other natural fluid that's part of the process). This freaked out our daughter a bit, but just took some coaxing and assurance that the butterflies were ok and this was just a natural part of their transformation process. Overall, the whole family enjoyed watching the process from beginning to end... the RAPIDLY growing caterpillars were great, the butterfiles testing their wings in the tent (and crashing a bit as they got it sorted out) was entertaining, and releasing them was fun as well. Most of them took off right away, flying 60+ feet upwards to some of the tall trees behind our house, to the point we couldn't see them anymore. But a couple hung around and started visiting some of the flowers in our backyard which was a treat to watch. I suspect we'll order another set of caterpillars in a few months or next year... but for now we're moving on to an ant farm for our next indoor observation experience!

Did everything right one caterpillar died right away, 2 lasted until the end and the remaining 2 attached to the lid....then one fell. Now there's one attached to the lid and not one is changing yet.

This is a unique gift. I need to warn you to time the purchase to the exact time you want it to begin. It has everything included with a really spacious tent house. It starts with a cup of food already made for the tiny worms to eat. They grow fast and go through several growth stages. Then you set up the place for them to hang upside down at the top of the tent. You watch until a butterfly emerges. Then you make the sugar water, including. They last quite a while. I ended up letting them go in my bedroom, which has several plants I keep inside. I just moved their food outside of the tent for them to find. It is sort of sad when they die. Wish they could figure out how to include the next step of laying eggs. I loved this!!!

At first I thought my caterpillars were dead. Everyday the caterpillars would grow. On Friday the caterpillars were pretty big we left snd on monday they worked their way to the top a cocoon. We gave it a few days before moving them into their home.
