Anki DRIVE Expansion Car, Rho (Previous Version)

This was a Christmas gift for my son. After using it for about an hour, the car began to do weird things. Spinning in circles, driving off the track. Just random stuff. I went to the Anki website, and went through all of the troubleshooting screens - I highly recommend this! It will help you know more about your car, especially if you're like us, and you don't really read instructions as well as you should. Unfortunately, this didn't fix our problem. We had a defective car. So I called Customer Service, and I told them what it was doing, and what I had done to troubleshoot. He said, "No problem, send me an email with your receipt, and we'll get a replacement on the way to you. We'll also send you a return mail label for you to send the defective one back." The speed in getting the replacement (holiday schedule, so it did take 5 days) and their FOLLOW-UP CALL to make sure everything was working well with the replacement car totally impressed me. THIS is how customer service is done, and done well. We've already purchased another expansion car. Can't say enough good things....

Purchased this car as a birthday gift, so now I am outside of the 30 day window to return it through Amazon.com. The car was just opened and is inoperable. The Anki support website is terrible and provides no clue about the problem or how to solve it. The Anki user forum appears to consist of a bunch of kids offering product development ideas and there is no useful information available for troubleshooting the car's problem.The car appears to charge normally, but the indicator lights go out when the car is removed from the charger and the car does not work. I suggest you try out the car before the 30 day Amazon return window expires!! I hope Anki will back their product's one year warranty.Edited review to 3 stars: We had an emailed response from Anki customer support within 2 hours! (Amazing!) Apparently the problem was that the Rho car needed a "firmware" update. I never saw this issue addressed on the Anki support website. However, the steps supplied by the Anki support team had the car updated and running and the issue appears resolved. The car should come with better "troubleshooting" documentation, but at least it works now. FYI - Here's the fix....Place the vehicle in the cradle to charge using the supplied charge kit in the starter kit for 8 to 10 minutes.Once charged, remove vehicle, when the light turn off, turn the vehicle upside down and pres the gray button.if the vehicle turns back on.Open the app, and from the main screen enter the garage to check for an update for the vehicle.If the vehicle requires an update, please proceed with the update.Once update or if the vehicle does not need an update.Proceed with a game to make sure the vehicle connects to your device.

Hello!Firstly, I will say you should buy this car. I think everyone should buy all the cars. I want this company to know that they have a fabulous product. Secondly, I will say that if you are going to pass on ONE car, pass on this one.This car is not interesting. The special ability is boring, it's not super fast and it just doesn't have the awesome factor that the other cars have. Also, it makes a 7th car. Each charger charges 3 cars, this means that you can't do clean 3-3 swaps. I know that's a stupid reason, but if you are going to have 7 cars, you should have 8...or just 6. That point is minor in comparison to the issues with the car being boring.It does look nice and if you want to be able to beat the whole campaign, it is necessary. The shield function it has is handy for dodging bombs, but generally it's not much fun. May be competitive, but not a lot of fun.

I always lost to my brother as he was so much better at controlling the car and would always end up behind me and shooting me until I spun out. This evened the playing field with the new defensive nature of the car's abilities. It also made it a lot more fun playing single player as there are now 2 cars to beat.But the AI does get stuck sometimes and one car just seem to give up and just slowly goes around the track and seldom attacks. Hopefully this would be fixed with a software update.

This is a fast car out of the box. When upgraded it has awesome weapons coupled with great handling and speed. By the end of the first day of racing my son was winning almost every battle and every race with his new RHO car. Highly Recommended!

My kids LOVE ANKI Drive and this expansion car is no exception - no issues, no problems, just lots of fun.
