Corsair CMFSL3X1-256GB Flash Voyager Slider X1 256GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive

The Corsair Voyager X1 USB Flash slider, thus far, has impressed me with its overall performance. Corsair has managed to bring true USB 3.0 performance to a flash drive with decent capacity. The case seems durable although a bit fragile because it extremely light in weight. The ability of the case to slide and cover the standard USB tip is a definite plus although the areas where one would place their fingertips to manipulate this process are smooth and plastic for one hand but not the other (which is also rubberized for added grip). One would expect both areas to try promote a much grip as possible in sliding the cover. The cover does lock into both positions with minimal effort which is also a plus. I hesitated in giving the X1 a full five stars due to its price which is higher than most USB flash drives of the same capacity but it is one of the few drives that can truly operate at USB 3.0 speeds with minimal read/write errors that are associated with other large capacity thumb drives that try to operate at that speed.

The media could not be loaded. Not quite as fast as my 256 PNY Thumb Drive but it was $20 less and I'm happy.Under 3GB and you won't have to wait over a minute or so but the largerthe file, the longer it takes. This looks rugged and should last. the plug slides in and outof the case so, no cover to worry about loosing. It works as advertised.Corsair is a reputable company, and this is a hardy little USB stick with a pretty shocking amount of storage space. The sliding mechanism is rubberized and has a very good build quality. Not to mention the keychain-loop which was essentially the biggest selling point for me, since I have this on my keychain 24-7. (I'm a DJ and work with computers for my work)The only downside is that there isn't anything to keep it from sliding to the "open" position in your pocket or anywhere else, and it makes me a little worried about the longevity of the metal USB plug as it may get warped, bent, or even rusted.

Lots of storage, fast, use it daily. Had no problems so far. I like the fact the sliding cap works well. does not open accidentally.

Update 6.19.16: only had a the drive for two weeks now but now the writes speed is ridiculously slow, in the range of 500kB/s. Horrible I would not recommend anyone to buy. I can't get my data off the drive since I copied around 150gb, and at this rate I can't copy it back off. Going to ask amazon to help rectify this issue.230gb USB 3.0 drive after formatting losses.
