The Return of Zita the Spacegirl

My 7 year old granddaughter loved this book, highly recommend it!

The Zita series is incredible, hands down. I've been rereading this to my kids for years and the copies are getting very worn down. Zita is a very human character, written like a person instead of a character. Her adventures are solid and pose interesting ethical questions in a way that allows you to have the conversation with younger kids. Aside from the book itself, Hatke's world-building is unbelievable. After finding the first easter eggs (and then reading the MIghty Jack series and seeing exactly how big those eggs are), you come to realize the Hatke is thinking about an entire universe, not just a book series here and there. Seeing his work in different worlds, and the connections between them, drove us to buy all of his books. My kids are still hunting for the last and coolest connection between Nobody Likes a Goblin and Mighty Jack and the Goblin King... I recommend this series (and author) over anything else my kids own (and that includes the all the standard basics). They're not old enough for Tolkein, but until they are, this is the next broadest thing out there.

All the kids (4-10) love these adventures with Zita. The art is fantastic and the content is exciting while still being appropriate for children. A great gift for all graphic novel lovers.

The third installment to the Zita the Spacegirl series. Each page bursts with bright colors that perfectly match the vibrant, quirky cast of characters. I'm a big fan of Zita—and of her talented creator, Ben Hatke.

My daughter loves this series. Great theme of friendship and team building.

My 8 year old son and nearly 6 year old daughter love Zita and continue to reread all the books (including this one), so just because the protagonist is a girl does not mean it doesn't appeal to boys. I love how Zita's strength isn't that she's got magical powers or mad fighting sklls. She makes friends, does the right thing (even when it's hard or dangerous), and won't let anyone tell her who she can (or can't) save. She's a great role model for anyone (including me!). The art is clean and easy to view, consistent with the previous books. I look forward to reading more by Ben Hatke, and would love to see another Zita story if he happens to find another one inside himself.

Yep,it's brilliant..,again ! Smashing characters and fascinating story,nothing has been left out. I was hoping,near the end of the book,that it would say 'to be continued'.....,sadly not..,boo hoo. I love graphic novels and this was an amazing find,good old Ben Hatke.(and family) Be wary of having 4 daughters though,'cos it seems you may be forced to create a graphic novel series. Still,if it was good enough for the mighty Egyptians..,it's good enough for little ol' me,I love 'em ! I must admit to being a little disturbed at one point when Zita appeared to be beaten down after working in the mines. But hey,that was just a trick from a genius writer to pull the wool over our eyes before.....,POW ! Zita was back to her feisty self again,saving this,that and the others too...,.marvelous stuff,I want more.. and when do I want it....,Yes,NOW !! I'm pleased that Joseph got to join in the adventure,we thought he was..,er...,gone. But NO ! The 'deception' (blech !) was a master stroke that had me fooled,I can tell you.It was soo genuine. Piper and Madrigal getting back together,who would have thought ? I also like the spark of recognition of the Leviathan when Zita pulled off one of it's power cords...,nice touch..,ahem. I liked the whole book ! But there were some 11/10 moments,that's all. Zita being yanked over by her chains and noticing the Ghost. Oh..,and the charges......a pattern emerges...,fantastic. Oh..oh..,and the amazing Floof gun..,Oh Come On !! I could easily go on.....and on..,but to save me the trouble.....,please read the novel. This volume also contains the very entertaining origins of Zita,the crime....,ah,no..,the Space girl ! (with costume) Which reminds me..,the evolution of Femur and Raggy.Hoo boy,has this book got the lot or what ?!

Zita is a wonderful character and the stories and illustrations are so rich they are a great pleasure to read and share. Good for boys to read about girls who are interesting and multi-faceted. Good for girls too. All the genders and ages in our family love this book.
