I was able to use this one time before it broke while I was opening it to put another hat in it. However, I've come up with the best way to wash hats without shrinking them, or having the shape get out of whack. I've been researching and trying different methods to clean my hats for a long time.From washing machine, to dishwasher, to hand cleaning, all using those plastic hat forms. The washing machine and dishwasher clean them well, but at the expense of the shape, and a lack of water temperature control causing occasional shrinkage. I've determined the best way to clean them is filling a large pasta pot full of lukewarm water, add about a tablespoon of washing machine detergent--I prefer something with no dye or scent--then swish around to make sudsy. Take your PreTreat laundry spray and spray the hat well in its entirety. Let sit a couple minutes then submerge the hat in the pot so its covered. Sometimes upside down works best. Let sit for 3 hours. Remove, rinse with lukewarm water, then put into this style plastic hat frame and hang so the bills faces the ground and let dry. This has worked excellent for me; keeping shape and removing tons of dirt. You'll see it in the pot when you empty it. *Caveat-I've tried this method on three different baseball style hats with three different thread types with no issues. If you have issues, I'm not responsible. :-)

My son plays baseball year-round and football for half of the year . The team hats can get pretty dirty and we needed a better solution to washing them in the washer with the uniform because it would come out misshapen . This has been a great alternative I plan on purchasing more so that I can wash more than one hat at once .

Great item! My son always got upset after I washed his caps because he complained I ruined its shape - even though I hung them to dry on a clip. He said they look distorted. Ball Cap Buddy solved that problem! So glad I came across this item. Used it in dishwasher and hung to dry in the shell - hat looks good as new!

These work great. Placed in top rack of dishwasher and caps came out clean and in great shape. Was originally concerned with the opening of the ballcap buddy, as there were some comments about it being hard to open, however it is not that hard. Have used several times and we are very happy with the outcome. I leave the caps in the form until they are dry.

It's okay as long as the bill of the hat isn't curved and firm. I washed an older hat that has a very stiff curved bill, it fell apart in the washer.I did wash 2 work hats with more flexible bills, it worked fine for those.

This product fits nicely into the top section of my dish washer. I've cleaned three hats already, and each has come out cleaner than expected.

I don't put this in the washer or the dishwasher, I use a steam cleaner, works great!

Haven't used it yet, but looks fine.
