This book has some of maya angelous most famous and beautiful poems. A good boot for children to learn who this talented writer was.

I got this book for my 4 year old. I should have paid more attention to the age. I did not want to introduce her to such language at this time in her life. Working to give her a proper way of speaking that is acceptable in the world today.

My granddaughter loves the poems in this book we read together every night short poems easy to read she’s 8

I purchased this book as a gift for my 12yr old daughter and she absolutely loves it. It's a great introduction to poetry book.

I purchased this for Christmas for my Daughter. I know that she will love this collection of poetry and the art works inside. I have written her a note, asking her to read and then re-read one per day...so that the real and the lovely sinks into her heart.

My students were so quiet it scared me. I love the little caption at the top of the poem giving an explanation of what inspired her to write the poem. Thank you Maya Angelou.

What a joy this exquisite book is!! I bought it for my teenage son who is studying the masterpiece "Still I Rise" in school. He's not normally an emotional boy but he cried on the journey home in the car from school reading "Caged Bird" to me. The words touch the soul and as he said, you'd have to be a stone not to feel the words of the poem, as when you're a teen trying to fit in with your peers and you're at that awkward age in life & trying to figure out who you are, this poem put's it all in perspective no matter what struggles or mountains you face in life. A great read. This book has helped my 10 year old son enjoy poetry and appreciate where Maya Angelou is coming from.
