A practical, step by step guide to making conversation. Learn how to have great conversations that flow well so you can feel confident when making small talk, flirting with a date, or making new friends. This guide includes: The Secret Of Conversation Flow What makes some conversations flow smoothly, and others sputter or feel awkward? In this section, I explain the principles of "Invitation" and "Inspiration" and how these two principles work together to create smooth, comfortable conversation. Invitation: The Art Of Good Questions Invitations help to add structure to a conversation by clearly communicating to your partner when itโs their turn to speak and giving them a topic to speak about. In this section, I discuss invitations in depth and teach you how to use them in your conversations. In addition, since most invitations are questions, I explain how to ask good questions and show how you can build rapport with others using questions. Inspiration: The Heartbeat Of Good Conversations Itโs possible to build a conversation out of nothing but invitations, but thereโs a better way. Through something I call an "inspiration", you help build conversation that feels more natural and that encourages more sharing and intimacy between you and your partner. This section explains what inspirations are and how they work. Inspiration In Practice Once you understand what inspirations are and what they can do for you, youโll be eager to apply them in your everyday conversation. This section gives you the practical, step-by-step guidance you need to do just that. Invitation and Inspiration In Practice After youโve learned about invitation and inspiration separately, itโs time to discover how they can work together. Review: awesome - Loved the eBook. I'm an SLP and work with many individuals with social skill deficits. I shared your TED talk with one of my students. He and his family found it very helpful. Thank you for being a role model. This means so much to those who struggle to fit in. My student told me that after listening to your TED talk he felt for the first time that he could be likable just by being himself. I like the clear explicit way you teach conversation skills in this eBook. Thank you for your generosity in sharing. I have shared your website with my colleagues and hopefully many more struggling with social acceptance will find inspiration and encouragement from your insights. Review: Solid Advice - A quick read with solid advice on how to open and carry a conversation. The bonus ten tips at the end are really the prize. Thereโs a lot of common sense here, and itโs good to be reminded of them. A good resource.

Lots of info in a short read; put it to use immediately
I'm really glad I read this book, and it was at a crucial time. I'm in sales and customer service, I have face-to-face conversations as part of my job all day long. I was feeling stuck and wanted to get some kind of insight on how to connect with my customers better especially if the conversations have a rough start. I went to lunch, opened my Kindle app and saw this book I'd ordered months ago and started reading. I'd read a good amount of it before going back to work after lunch, and the metaphor he used and the Inspiration and Invitation framework was something I was able to get easily; it's perfect for my way of thinking. Now it's got me interested in checking out more of his work through his website. Great for impatient readers, loved that there's some much effective information in such a short read. Highly recommended.

Easy to follow. Well written. Very helpful.
We're all traveling through this dimension like pioneers with maps scratched out on a napkin. Not clear and not accurate. It really gets scary when our little map becomes useless and we're totally on our own to figure how to navigate a rather uncertain social life. But Daniel provides insight that's very useful. I applaud his devotion and commitment to helping us pioneers find our way from point to point in life. I definitely recommend this ebook.

A quick, but very informative read.
The concepts Daniel uses are well explained. On top of that, he also uses clear and easy to follow examples. The topics and skills are well aligned and build in each other smoothly as you progress through the book. Well done!

Good introduction
Short but sweet. A lot of tips to go on. I will be sharing it with my husband as he really lacks these skills.

Inspirational!
This book is a positive, no-fluff guide about how to create conversation with others. Dan, the writer, is very good at using word pictures and analogies, I particularly liked the one about the two artists creating a beautiful painting to depict how conversation easily flows between two people. I love the two words that he chose ... "invitation" and "inspiration", two very positive and inviting words that explain how conversation works. It's a practical guide that is easy to understand and apply as the concepts are clearly explained. After you have read the book, read some of Dan's poetry as well, he has a great sense of humour and is skilled at using imagery to evoke emotion. Dan has used his diagnosis of Asperberger's not as a sentence but as a steppingstone to greater things. He is a inspiration and an encouragement to others.

Great for teaching social skills to children with Aspergers
I got these books for an Aspergers teen child of friends. She loved them. I think the clear breakdown really helped her to understand social nuances from a perspective of a person similar to herself.
