***The Ultimate Guide to Re-programming Your Mind***
Absolutely Life-Changing and Eye-Opening! Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself is an absolute masterpiece. Dr. Joe Dispenza beautifully bridges the gap between quantum physics, neuroscience, and spirituality to explain how our thoughts shape our reality. The book doesn't just explain why we get stuck in negative patterns, but actually gives you a step-by-step meditation guide to rewire your mind and create a new life. Reading this completely shifted my perspective and daily habits. If you are ready to do the deep work to change your life, buy this book immediately. It goes far beyond standard self-help by explaining the biological chemistry of our habits and emotions. The concept of losing your old mind to create a new one is explained with so much clarity and logic. The meditations are incredibly powerful and have helped me release years of subconscious conditioning. It is a brilliant piece of work that I will reread for years to come. It is an absolute must-read!

Worthwhile read, my copy is all highlighted
I first read Dispenza's "Evolve Your Brain" which I felt was very technical, scientific, complex, and extremely worthwhile reading, because it so clearly explained the science of our minds and brains and thinking processes, it was worth the toil of reading it. It was not a book written for dummies! Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself was also worthwhile reading. It was a much easier read than "Evolve Your Brain" having been published by Hay House and intended more for the self-help crowd, many of whom wouldn't take the time to read "Evolve Your Brain" (which, unless you have a medical background or are uncommonly smart, is not the kind of book you can breeze through in a few days - it took me a few weeks). Anyway, "Breaking the Habit" was full of gems on every page. My copy is so dog-eared and highlighted, and I will certainly return to it for inspiration and insight throughout life. One (of many) things he wrote about that really helped me was how we "talk ourselves out of greatness" just at the point where we're metamorphosizing from our old self into our new self, because we're afraid and try to go back to what we knew, even though it wasn't making us happy. That has helped me many times when I've gotten frightened while starting my private practice in counselling and wondered if I should give up because it's "crazy" to try to start a practice etc etc... really it's just scary to aspire, change, and be something greater than what you've ever been, but what, in your heart, you've always meant to be and wished to be. He provides so many insights into our behavior and thought patterns, and demystifies it, and makes it so understandable, and of course, the better you understand your behavior the easier it becomes to transform it. A very worthwhile read. I created my own hypnosis recordings, partially using the scripts he provides in his books. I read a few people on here complaining that they had to buy his recordings on his website, which was not true. He provides that as an option. He does NOT peddle or push it, and he provides the full scripts so you can record them for yourself, which I did because I am a professional hypnotherapist and can create my own recordings. In any event this book is definitely worth reading, highly recommended.

Steps to Change One's Mind
Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One is the second bestselling book by Dr. Joe Dispenza. His first book, Evolve Your Brain, explained the concept of neuroplasticity and how one can alter the brain itself based on thought and feeling. As his second best-selling book, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, also explores the practice of neuroplasticity. However, rather than just an explanation of neurplasticity, this book goes deeper into the subject of how to actually apply the practice to one's life, as well as how to achieve the benefits of the science. Dr. Joe Dispenza has a very extensive background in the sciences. He earned his Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in neurobiology from Life University in Atlanta Georgia and went on for his Doctor of Chiropractic. He then went on with postgraduate education studying neurology, neuroscience, brain function and chemistry, cellular biology, memory formation and aging and longevity. Dr. Dispenza currently runs a chiropractic clinic in Olympia Washington while also holding conferences and seminars in order to teach his method of carrying out neuroplasticity all over the world. Not only have his first two books been best-sellers but he was also featured as one of the scientists in the film What the BLEEP Do We Know!?as well as The People vs The State of Illusion. Dr. Joe Dispenza's extensive background in neurobiology and science resulted in an intriguing book that went very in-depth into not only the science behind neuroplasticity, but also meditations that would allow one to change their own mind. I found the science behind the practice very fascinating and something that could be expanded on, while other parts of the book dragged on at times. However, the book did was very successful at sparking my interest in the subject of neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is a subject that is becoming more well-known among people as well as a science gaining momentum in research. It is a subject difficult to comprehend because it goes against many preconceived notions of the world. The book emphasizes that anyone of any age can change what their brain looksm, which is unlike previous longstanding belief that only children still possessed developing brains. However, neuroplasticity goes even further than one may believe. Not only can the brain change at the level of synapses and neurons but it also goes to the depth of genes which can be changed and affected by neuroplasticity. The source of this change takes place due to not only our actions but can also be caused by thought alone. Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself was a much different book than I first believed. While I was expecting to be taught on the subject of neuroplasticity, which I was, the book has a much different focus that just education. The aim of the book is largely as a self-help aimed book, with the goal of aiding readers to change their lives and ending destructive personalities and habits. This is done through the practice of a series of meditations outlined in the book and changing one's overall perspective on how the brain and body work together. The book is broken into three parts. The first section "The Science of You" explains the background science of neuroplasticity and how it works. It begins at a large base of quantum physics and focuses on how the brain and body are actually 99.999 percent energy rather than actual matter and how this energy behaves. It also goes more into depth about neurobiology and neurotransmitters and how each are closely connected to the body, mind, and experiences. The second part of the book, "Your Brain and Meditation" begin to explain Dr. Joe Dispenza's method of achieving neuroplasticity. Rather than going into detail about what to do for this meditation, part two actually connects the science from the first part of the book to how the mediation will work in one's body in order to carry out neuroplasticity. Part three of the book, "Stepping Toward Your New Destiny" really looks at the focus of the book, applying neuroplasticity to your own life. It takes the reader step by step on how to carry-out the change. It also does this on a weekly plan so that within four weeks the reader will know how to meditate and live so that neuroplasticity is possible in their lives. This portion of the book surprised me because of its almost mysticism or religious feel, completely contrasting the science portion. This book makes many connections to neurobiology which I was not pleasantly surprised by. Several different subjects of neurobiology came up in the reading. It beings by explaining neurotransmitters in order for the reader to understand how their thoughts and feelings are connected and then connects this to how synaptic connections are formed in the brain. The book explains the concept that when synapses fire together they wire together, creating habits and on even personalities if fired enough. It then goes into the actual brain physiology and the connection the different parts of the brain perform in relation to one another. Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself was a very interesting read covering neuroplasticity. I found that the book seemed to drag on in several sections, covering a small amount of information in many pages. This resulted in disinterest at several points in the book however, it did so in order for the reader to completely grasp the concepts in the book. By taking the reader step by step, carefully through the process of how to change one's personality such as in part three of the book, it becomes a process anyone can apply to their own life even if they previously knew little about the subject. What I appreciated most in the book was part one and part two of the book. In the first section, "The Science of You", Dr. Joe Dispenza goes into detail about how the brain actually creates one's personality. The book does this by extrapolating on how the mind and body work together and how that energy on a thought can manipulate the body into performing a function. I found this to be the most interesting part of the book because it explained the process so well in relation to the science behind it. If anything I would have appreciated even more of the in-depth science. Part two also relayed some of the science behind the practice but bridged the science of the body and how to apply the science and the aims of the mediations. The third portion of the book caught me by surprise because the mediations seemed very faith based or mysticism based. However, because the science was explained so clearly in how the meditations connect with the purpose, the meditations had a foundation and purpose that was easily to follow. Overall this book was a very intriguing read that introduced a new subject to me that previously I had thought impossible. Dr. Joe Dispenza's explanation of meditations and the basis of why they work made the book much more interesting to read because I wanted to learn to apply it to my own life. However, what I appreciated the most in the book was the science that explained neuroplasticity. While certain parts of the book could be expanded on and other parts said in briefer statements, in general the book made it easy for any lay person to understand and apply neuroplasticity.

Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself
I could write my own book about the many reasons why anyone with a human brain and body - and a desire to be happy - should read this groundbreaking book. Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself is "the manual" for those who want to live a truly empowered life. Combining the fields of quantum physics, neuroscience, biology, and genetics, Dr. Joe Dispenza bridges the gap between science and spirituality as he masterfully teaches his readers how to create change and a new reality for oneself. Why is this important to understand and implement? Because by the time you reach the age of 35, Dr. Dispenza shares in his book, you've memorized your own set of behaviors, emotional reactions, and thought patterns that have become 95% of your identity, which means 95% of who you are BEING is sub-conscious and automatic! By repeating the same thoughts and actions every day after day, "we begin to hard wire our brain into very specific patterns that reflect our external world." We're most often not even aware that we've developed habits for everything. As the saying goes, we ARE creatures of habit. So, most will imagine a great vision, dream or objective, only to be sidetracked by the habits they've developed that limit their true greatness along with their beloved dream. With only 5% of us that is consciously aware, how do we become - as Dr. Dispenza points out - the divine creators we are capable of being? This book brilliantly teaches us that "the greatest habit we have to break is the habit of being ourselves." In order to change and consciously create, we have to think beyond, think greater than the environment and conditions in our lives. Shortly after reading this book I was discussing it with a successful, young woman who struggles with the hectic schedule of being a working mom. She heard the title and said, "Sounds interesting, but what if I like myself? Why would I want to change being myself?" I asked her if she ever worried about her kids or felt stressed with her overbearing schedule. "All the time." she said. "Worry, guilt, stress... doesn't that just come with the territory of motherhood and work?" Wow, I thought. I used to think that way too! That's the fallacy we've been led to believe: that worry, fear, resentment, anxiety and all those survival emotions that create chronic stress in our lives are normal. Not only are they NOT normal, they are making us - and our world - chronically ill. As a result, we are seeing breakdown in systems across the board - incoherence in our bodies, our families, communities, and our world. It's time for conscious change because the truth is, we are so much more than we know. We are multidimensional beings, powerful beyond measure, here to be conscious creators. Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself gives us leading edge science revealing the inherent power in each of us to consciously harness the mind (thoughts) and body (feelings) to change our brains, thus creating a new state of Being to affect our external world. The tools for change and the science behind them are stunning as well. The book "demystifies the mystical," teaching the use of meditation to become aware of how thoughts and emotions are functioning-- how a person can see past their mental programming, and identify as the consciousness observing the program. Meditation, we learn, is the unlearning process-- its purpose is to become aware of the old self, those aspects of our selves we want to change by going into the operating system of those subconscious programs and bringing them into our conscious awareness so that we have dominion over them. This book is a masterpiece and an evolutionary eye-opener for anyone, old, young, and in between. The science is breath-taking. Dr. Dispenza's teaching style, genius. Is there something you want for your life, for the world? Greater happiness, love, abundance, more time with loved ones, better health and self care? How about creating new, desired habits for a balanced world at peace? You have the hardware - your brain, your body, and the freedom to place your awareness on anything you want if you know how. The newest science tells us that we absolutely have the power! I recommend you embrace this book, fall in love with its knowledge, repeat what you've learned over and over, follow its four-week program for fundamental change, and get ready for a new you and new life beyond your wildest imaginings!!

This Book is the KEY for Me in Understanding What Has Blocked Me in the Past
I'm in love with Joe Dispenza and the way he makes the "brain science" sound understandable to this VERY DECIDEDLY non-science-minded reader. For a number of years I've been working on improving my own life's circumstances and learning about the stuff like "Law of Attraction," meditation, and the like. While I understand certain things intellectually, "something" had been missing, and it was driving me nuts, because I wasn't seen the kinds of results that I thought I should by now. I came upon this book quite by accident (or not... depending on how you look at things like this!). I had to have it, and completely absorbed myself in it. Since reading the book, I've also purchased his meditations. I'm feeling a lot better about myself in general, and while I haven't had a truly earth-shattering experience as a result (well, it HAS only been a month or so), I can tell you that a few "uncanny" things HAVE happened. Coincidences? I don't believe so, because I am working through his steps without missing a single one. I'm taking this journey very seriously... In the last 2 weeks alone, since really getting down with the meditations and taking a lot of time to practice with them, I really have felt a "shift" in how I feel emotionally. The things that Dr. Joe talks about make a lot of sense. It would appear, if my understanding of his words is correct, that I've been "blocking" good results from happening to me in my life because I had spent years and years of allowing my body to have absorbed my negative emotions at a cellular level, since any time we have a thought it sends physical signals to various cells (neuro transmitters, etc). So, after a while, the cells kind of rule the mind instead of mind ruling the body (simplistic, but I'm not going to be able to summarize my understanding fully). After a few weeks of journal exercises and then the meditations, there has been a considerable "lightness of being" I've begun to feel. Then, a few oddball "coincidences" happened - all positive! There have been subtle, yet noticeable shifts in my life that couldn't possibly have occurred by accident. In one instance just last week, there was a completely unexpected shift that fully relates to a specific goal I have been working on, where a "way" was opened up to me to make more rapid progress toward that goal. It was honestly nothing that I could have possibly planned for, because that "way" was nothing I had ever considered. My feelings of "ancestral guilt" are disappearing in that I no longer am feeling like I have to suffer for any reason whatsoever. I grew up in a family where a day without feeling some type of guilt was like a day without sunshine - except that too much sunshine would be tough to enjoy because some people don't HAVE sunshine...and then the sunshine that we DO have is bound to disappear... if you understand what I mean. :) I wish I could better articulate the positive effects that Dr. Joe's work are having on me. I can only say that for me, this understanding of how the brain and our thoughts PHYSICALLY affect our lives appears - at least to me - to be a key component to my own success. Dr. Joe does not get spiritual or "touchy-feely" in this book like some other modern teachers tend to come across to me. It just makes sense, and when I couple what I've learned from Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself with other, more spiritual teachings, I can see how it all comes together. Anyway, sorry for rambling on so long. I love the book. But you probably already figured that out. :)

valuable
We could use a manual for our minds, and now apparently, we have one. I first heard of this book on the Coast-to-Coast AM show, where I listened to Joe Dispenza talk about how to stop running programs in our subconscious that we didn't want, and how to put in programs that we did want. Sounds too good to be true, but as a hypnotherapists, I know exactly what Dispenza is talking about. Dispenza explains simply and clearly, first our our minds are programed to be with, and then how to un-program them, and finally, how to put into our subconscious minds what we want in order to have the life we want to live. How to make our dreams come true. The mechanics of the book The Secret. Dispenza uses the lives of those who've lived large, to show us what we too can become everything we have the power to dream. What Dispenza is telling us is usually hidden in the trappings of religion, but it's really just science, nature, or the logical way things work, whatever you want to call it. He shows us how science has moved on from the Newtonian model of cause and effect, saying that we're all separate in a material world, to a quantum world we we're all connected to each other, and to a creator who wants to give us what we desire. How is this new scientific model important? Because if we really are all connected to each other, and to our creator, then it means that what we do to others, we also do to ourselves. Hurt someone, you hurt yourself. Give to someone, and you will receive. Love your enemies, and they will love you. Bomb them into the stone age, and, well you get the picture. And how this is important to us in a really big way is that, if we are connected to a creator who can give us anything we desire, then we'd better make sure that we know, on a subconscious level, just exactly what it is we're desiring. Do the programs in our head, picked up while we were young and vulnerable to programming, say that we are unworthy of love? If so, then we're projecting that unworthiness out into the universe, and since our creator loves us unconditionally, and wants to give us what we desire, we get a world that tells us over and over again that we are unworthy of live. Yikes! Imagine the kind of mate you're going to find if you are advertising for one who treats you with no respect! I'd say that Dispenza's book, which takes the mystery out of both science and religion, is just about the most important information a person can ever have. His book can help you to "Know Yourself". And while I've read lots on the subject that this book covers, this is one of the most concise and easy to assimilate books I've come across. I'm so glad I read it.

Good book. Mind and life changing
I picked up this book expecting a bit of motivation and maybe a few “change your mindset” ideas… and instead found myself actually rethinking the way my brain works on a daily basis. It breaks things down in a way that doesn’t feel preachy or overly scientific, but still somehow makes you go, “Ah… so that’s why I keep doing the same nonsense over and over.” The mix of neuroscience, practical exercises, and real-life examples is surprisingly easy to follow. I actually caught myself noticing old habits popping up—and for once, I knew what to do about them. It’s one of those books where you read a chapter, stare into the distance for a minute, and think, “Alright… maybe I can get my act together.” If you’re looking to change patterns, understand your own thinking, or just get a fresh perspective, this book is well worth it. Insightful, motivating, and weirdly life-resetting.
