Good budget EDC with a few flaws
This knife has a peculiar mix of features. It's a scandi folder, and it's also a stainless scandi, and it's also a budget folder with an up-spec'd locking mechanism. The good:The lockup is excellent if you want your budget folder to have an extremely strong lock and can accept that it's at the expense of one-handed closure, which this knife basically doesn't do. You have to depress the spine button with heavy, continuous force, and there's no unsharpened kick area to safely contact your finger against during closure. The maximized sharpened length is a reasonable decision on this knife because scandi implies woodcarving. So that's all good as long as you know what you're getting. All the elements of the construction are very good for the price. Good clip, no slop, excellent centering, handle good for the money, nothing too overbuilt for the application, good hardware. The blade steel is legit, holds an edge well, and importantly is a stainless that was successfully chosen to not screw up the easy freehand sharpening of a scandi grind. Good job Cold Steel. Also the out of box sharpness was good.Scandi grind on a folding EDC all-rounder has been good, but that's coming from someone that likes scandi grind knives. Things could go wrong in the hands of someone that doesn't understand it comes with a degree of edge fragility. That said, it evolved to be an all-around utilitarian grind concept and it does that well here. The bad:There is one thing on this knife that really bothers me, and it's the thumb stud. This is not the knife to use the kind of thumb stud they picked out. The reason is simple: scandi grind knives are sharpened by laying them against a stone. It's supposed to be fast, simple, and reasonably unfinicky about exact positioning or technique. But on this knife, you lay the ground section against a stone and the thumb stud hits the stone. It's asinine. You can still do it by very carefully overhanging the edge of the stone on the knife and keeping your fingers out of the way of the blade while doing it, but that's not it should be. You can take the stud off for sharpening, but you shouldn't have to. And the same problem can happen taking very shallow cuts in woodcarving, where the thumb stud hits the piece. Basically anything but a stud would have been better. Fingernail notch, hole, those flat kinds of thumb stud on the spine, anything. It doesn't ruin my opinion of the knife, but it is a glaring design oversight and I hope it gets improved in future versions.Final Verdict:If someone had just one EDC knife and it needed to be this price point, this would be an outstanding choice. It's functional, durable, and maintainable. I just can't give it all five stars because of my issue with the thumb stud. That should have been figured out, because I figured it out the first time I took it to a pocket stone. Other than that, it gets all five stars easy.

WORKHORSE
1ST COLD STEEL KNIFE AND I LIKE IT. I USE IT MOSTLY FOR EDC ROUGH USE YARD WORK TYPE STUFF. SO FAR SO GOOD. I LIKE THE AUS 8 STEEL AS IT HOLDS UP PRETTY WELL AND IS EASY TO SHARPEN.ONLY THING I DO NOT LIKE IS THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE IT TAKES TO RELEASE THE LOCK. NOT SO EASY TO DO WITH ONE HAND. REMINDS ME OF A BUCK 110 BUT A LOT HARDER TO PRESS. WITH SOME PRACTICE I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO IT WITHOUT CUTTING A FINGER. .I HAVE COLLECTED OVER 80 KNIVES SOME ARE TO USE EVERY DAY AND SOME ARE TO BE ADMIRED. THIS THING IS A WORK HORSE THAT CAN TAKE JUST ABOUT ANYTHING.BE AWARE THIS IS A TRUE SCANDI GRIND EDGE. IF YOUR NOT USED TO THAT YOU MIGHT NOT BE HAPPY AS THEY ARE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR CUTTING WOOD AND BUSHCRAFT TYPE APPLICATIONS.HAPPY WITH PURCHASE AND FEEL THE COST TO VALUE AND QUALITY IS VERY GOOD.

Rock the RED!
This is a great knife. Light, super sharp and a solid lock up (no blade play or lock rock)! Blade centering was perfect on mine. Thumb studs are the same size, on both sides of the blade, so they work the same for righties and lefties. Pocket clip easily switches over to the left side and is not too tight (IMO). Knife feels good in the hand and is a nice size. Knife can be closed one handed as the back lock is not too strong (on my knife). The knife does not have any liners. The handle gives your a good purchase on the knife and allows for multiple grips. The handle material does give some traction and positive feedback to your hand, however the handle does feel a little plasticky. That does not mean the knife feels weak or easily breakable to me. The end of the pocket clip does create a hot spot in my hand, in some grips. Way forward or way back on the knife feel best to me (I have large to extra large hands) and reverse grip feels the most comfortable for me. I see this knife as an acceptable EDC option, although I know many will say this is not an appropriate grind for daily cutting tasks. You decide. If you enjoy red, I think this is a great choice for you! I would buy again. Have fun!

Razor sharp and super strong
I really like the blade shape. I also like the fact that this knife is thinner than other cold steel folders. It’s less bulky to carry but still as strong as any other cold steel folder. I’m just going to half to learn how to sharpen it properly so I don’t ruin the blade.

Excellent overall knife
Not really a flipper, though it can be managed one handed. Is a decent pocket knife, with a simple grind. This is a replacement for me as I've done something mysterious with my older one and still haven't found it. It's useful and I like it.

Fixed blade that folds
Live these knives. I have a few in different colors. If you are thinking about trying one do it. Lock up is so strong you will think your using a fixed blade.

Hermoso cuchillo
Es un cuchillo hermoso, la hoja de corte escandinavo es especialmente buena para madera, y al ser plegable es muy practico. Por otro lado el tipo de seguro es de los mejores en las navajas plegables. Y gran precio!
