A great pair of headphones.
First of all I want to start by saying I am a casual listener. I enjoy listening to music but couldn’t get into the technical aspect of the quality of sound produced from these headphones. This will be a review of my experience with the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x’s compared to past headphones I have encountered. These are the first overhead headphones I have personally owned (apart from my Astro A-50’s for gaming) but I have used others in the past; however, I have used and owned many in-ear headphones. These have varied in price range and brands with a pair of Bose in-ear headphones being the most expensive (can’t recall what they are called now) at around the same price range as this headset (around $170 while I write this).Sound-I personally enjoy this headset due to the clarity of sound. I listen to a variety of music so I wanted a headset that would do well at many ranges. These do well in that aspect. The vocals always sound amazing and clear (blues sound great!) as well as instruments such as in classical music. The only thing as far as sound goes where I wish these headphones produced a bit more of would be bass. Although it’s there and it still sounds good within pop songs or house music it seems to lack a bit of punch. This seems to take a bit from the drums in rock music to me but this is an ever so slight complaint seeing as everything else sounds so much better. There is also a way to get more bass from what I’ve read by getting an amplifier for the headset. So if it doesn’t have enough bass for you there is a way to get more! The M50x’s due let out sound if you play music loud enough and if you play them at higher volumes people will be able to clearly hear what you are listening to.Physical Goods and Quality/Durability-From the box, my M50x Limited Edition (dark green and brown ones) came with, the headphones (which fold into the band, adjustable), three audio cables (a curly one, a three meter straight cable, and a 1.2 meter cable) all detachable, a 3.5mm adapter, and a nice little brown carrying case (probably faux leather but still looks nice). The headphones seem to made of mostly plastic which seem light but somehow don’t feel cheap to me, seem fairly light overall and are definitely comfortable for me. The headband is cushioned with the same material on the ear cups which during use do get warm after a while but nothing like my Astro A-50’s (again for gaming).Although I have only owned this headset for a few months these headphones seem very durable. I am a student and stuff these in my bag with just the cloth bag and I am not afraid of these breaking at all.Verdict-I do not regret my purchase, I personally got these on sale for about $120 and think it has been well worth the purchase and would recommend them to anyone as they produce great sound (that’s well rounded), a good simple styling (debated on black vs my green/brown at first but now wouldn’t consider changing them), and seem plenty durable where I don’t feel I have to worry about babying them at all. Great buy!

Best Headphones. Best Company. -Customer for Life After Getting These-
I previously owned a pair of excellent $350 Monitor Headphones from a German company. I wanted something from a company that had great expertise in headphones and payed attention to ALL of the details to make their product and headphones the best in all aspects. Hence, I checked out Audio-Technica and I got what I was missing out on:1) These headphones are much more comfortable for LONG USE, which is a must in a solid pair of headphones.2) ELEGANT DESIGN (I got the DG Limited Edition). Absolutely fantastic look for PROFESSIONAL headphones that offer Amazing sound.3) The reason that I want to mention that the noise cancelling is great, just as you would expect, is because at the same time they are VERY comfortable - especially the ear pads.4) The Sound Quality is absolutely PHENOMENAL, I mean I can't tell the difference between my old $350 pair. I got MORE than what I payed for with these Mx50's. Love it.5) Finally I love the fact that they have included the option to attach different chords. The thing is they are VERY smart for doing this because over time(years) the chord may break while the headphones will still be at 100% - we especially know this to be true with other cheap branded headphones, where the chords break all the time and much much sooner than many years. This way you will have these headphones working forever, so you might as well merry them now.-Also, the attention to detail is exhibited again when you notice that you get 3 chords that are all useful: For example, they offer a short cord that is perfect for use anywhere for casual listeners and great for travelers. The other 2 are also specific to professional studio listeners but can be used by anybody (you can take advantage of the long cord and screw on adapter).6) Well one last and Most Important thing is the EXTRAORDINARY BUILD QUALITY! I love this, as for me this is most important in any product that you use and are rough with everyday..

Great sound-quality headphones, very low comfortability for me
I'd like to start this off by saying that these headphones were purchased in 2015. I used them for about 3 years and have since removed them from use, though I still have them if I ever needed any noise-cancelling headphones.Speaking of the noise cancellation, it works VERY well. Almost too well! I ran into myself getting yelled at by my parents because I couldn't hear them at all while wearing these. The sound itself was my first introduction into a good quality pair of headphones though, and I was very happy with what I got in that aspect. It captured the sounds I was looking for while not being too expensive. Now for the not so great part of it for me. The materials of the headphones combined with it being a closed-back pair left me getting rather warm where they sat, and eventually the headphones loosened up enough to where it was only sitting on my head by the headband and absolutely no grab was happening from the earcups themselves. This may sound nice, but it actually caused the volume to not be as loud as they had originally been. This also gave me headaches at each use. I'm sure there are people who have had a better wearing experience than I, especially with that happening after a couple years and I know many have had these headphones much longer with minimal problems.TLDR;Pros:-Sound Cancellation-Overall SoundCons:-Made me sweat where the headphones would touch-Eventually loosens and causes volume loss and (in my personal case) headachesI'm still giving the product 4 stars despite my own issues. Maybe these same things didn't happen with others, but I was happy with the sound that came from these headphones while I was able to wear them.
