CocoGapor - The Ultimate Coconut Drill

This is a great tool for stabbing the coconut (with a hammer) and the hole being perfect size for a straw, also the other part is great for cutting out the coconut meat; however, it comes with nothing to actually cut the coconut open in half. You still need a knife and hammer or machete to actually get the coconut open. So in conclusion it is an amazing tool for what it does do but actually opening the coconut is not one of those things.

Coconut is miracle fruit. Most eastern religions offer coconut to god in temples for a reason. It end up eaten by all people to improve their health. It has many benefits, I will stop here on it.I am from India moved to USA decade back. I lost in touch with coconut which I used to get it weekly or monthly in one or another form with in house or temple. I brought coconut from American stores, Story always ends up with not able to take out coconut easily. I was frustrated and did not eat them for long time. End up getting frozen coconut which is not a best way to eat it.Came to know of this tool from one of my friend. Different companies sell similar tools. I went with this, I am not disappointed.It works fine. I am happy camper. Eat coconut twice a week. I eat with dates or dry foods for break fast some time use it for meal.It does take couple of minutes to poke and go around the coconut meet, but not a big deal.I have not tried on old (aged) coconuts with this tool. I prefer light color (less aged) coconuts, got it from Raileys. They have good tasty water and easy to take out meat. Good for eating raw. Old/aged coconuts(I see them on Indian stores) are dark colored, have less water and not a tasty meat.To get water, you need to poke in Screw driver like tool in one of 3 dark circles (eyes) of coconut, Meat get stuck in the tool which is intentional, so that it does fall into water. It comes with plastic cap, which can serve as taking out stuck meat in the tool. Works as expected.Save your health, east coconut or drink coconut water from real coconuts at least once or twice daily.This tool is very helpful for taking out coconut meat.

not working properly

Both tools are MUST HAVES for anyone wanting to enjoy coconuts. Hole drill is needed to first extract the precious coconut "water", or else it will be spilled out (messy) and wasted when the shell is cracked open. Every coconut has 3 eyes, and 1 of them is soft. The sharp hollow stainless drill tool is easily inserted into the soft eye to extract a plug of material, leaving a clean hole to tap the water. The shells are most easily cracked open using the back of your largest cleaver type kitchen knife to rap along the equator. This method will cut the nut cleanly in half, and works much better than bludgeoning with a hammer. The meat removal tool is very well made, with a strong stainless blade and solid rubber handle. Meat comes out efficiently by jamming the tip between shell and meat, followed by rocking it back and forth to separate, and then eventually pulling the tool towards the center to remove the whole piece from the shell. The edge of the cracked shell can be very sharp, and may even cut you if you attempt removing the meat with something like a butter knife (which doesn't work anyway) and make a slip. Fresh coconut meat pieces can now be eaten, or warmed in hot water and run thru a juicer to make fresh delicious creamy coconut milk!

I used the coconut drill three times before it broke from using the back of a heavy knife to tap the handle of the drill to drive it into into the inner coconut flesh. I also found that the metal drill clogged up each time it was used.

What an AWESOME pair of tools! I have cracked a coconut every day since I got the CocoGapor trephine and scraper. They both have saved me time as well as coconut water and meat! No frustration, no accidents, and no missing fingers!! Perfect results every time. I bought a case of coconuts, and look forward to opening one every time now. Customer service is outstanding as well. The tools shipped quickly, included instructions, and also INCLUDED FREE RECIPES!! There was also great communication and follow-through with any issues from customer service. I could not be more satisfied with my overall experience! If only the tools were made of titanium. . . If I were lost on a tropical desert island with coconuts, this is the one thing I would want!

Nicely packed kit with instructions for use and recipes included. I liked so much, I ordered 2nd as a gift for my daughter. Both instruments in kit make getting into coconut so much easier than before. Poking a hole in the soft spot to drink the water was simple; but it took a little more effort using the coconut meat tool but still SO MUCH easier than my previous method which took forever. With this tool, you can wedge it between the coconut meat and the shell all the way round and then extract them in much larger intact chunks which is a lot faster (and "prettier"). With these tools, I know I will be eating a lot more FRESH coconuts than ever before!

Rust inside drill after first use, really?? Please give me a refund.
