Think it’s a very nice walking stick. I’m not really sure why they paint the bottom black. I do not think it makes it look very attractive. I happen to see the other ones they sell without the stain and they look better.

Really lousy finish- Lots of bubbles and roughness/blistering of the varnish on the handle. There were a lot of protruding spikes where the branches had been cut of and not filed or sanded. Would never buy this product from this company again. Bought one several years ago and it was outstanding. I wish I had not waited to give it for Mother's day and opened it right away.Will not recommend to anyone else

I purchased the blackthorn cane as a gift for my wife. She gifted me with one a couple of decades ago following back surgery. Mine is heavier, inflexible, with knobs up and down the length where branches had been shorn. It is rugged and lends a strong sense of stability to the user (me). Anticipating something similar, the newly purchased cane is thinner and, in a sense, more elegant. It lacks the "knowing" esthetic, and is slightly flexible. In truth, I find it a beautiful piece of art as well as practical, but am slightly disconcerted with the thinness and flexibility. I know that it is illusionary – the cane is perfectly strong – but as I am used to my own heavier device I find it to be deficient to the tune of One Star. Keep in mine, however, that that is purely a subjective evaluation. Had I not used my own cane, I would certainly have given this purchase a full five stars. rfb I should add, however, that my wife has stated that she likes it she fine; that for her, it's perfect.

While the stick was as advertised, it was not quite as substantial as the last one that I had bought. Also, it had a crook handle instead of the root knob handle that I prefer. It does serve its purpose as a walking stick but is not quite what I had in mind. Since I am only keeping it at my daughter's house for when I visit it doesn't make much difference. Overall satisfactory

Beautifully crafted walking stick in a style of the old country, an ideal introduction to using a cane. Well made and helpful in assisting in mobility, especially if you are not ready to step up to the larger rubber tipped cane. While it may not be as safe and sturdy as a full cane, it is a stylish companion for getting around. Nearly a year into use, a few spots of the black painted bark is chipping and may need a touchup soon. The copper pipe tip may not be ideal for fine wood floors, but is very durable.

Love the Irish walking stick especially helps with people with messed up back severely very good support will buy again
