Steinel Outdoor Wall Light L 12 S anthracite, 180° motion detector, 10 m range, aluminium shade, E27 fitting, wall lamp

Has some good features, but not fully thought through. These are nice looking lights which appear sturdy and well made on first inspection. They are easy to dismantle without having to unscrew millions of tiny screws. They come with the screws and grommets to fit the punch out hole for the cable entry. HOWEVER- there are no standoffs at the back, or cable recess built in, so if the cable runs in conduit on your outside wall from above, there is no built in cable recess to allow it to go to the cable entry point at the back of the unit. This unit is designed to accept cable coming directly though a wall , or surface run ( in conduit)to the right of the unit. Needless to say our surface run cable came in from the top of the unit, so my husband has to fashion a upvc back plate with a groove at the back, so that the whole thing would look neat.The other slight problem was that the picture appears to show the metal curve plate going all the way to the wall. In fact it stops about 3 inches away, so from the side a large amount of plastic shows. Once installed it is easy to adjust, and only time will tell about its reliability

Having been annoyed by false activations by by even the slightest movement of a nearby tree on our previous PIR light I opted to try one of the from Steilnel. This has been up for a few months now and the PIR is absolutely reliable with zero false activations that I have seen.Good points:-It's incredibly well made and looks stylish.PIR works very well.I have it mounted in quite an exposed position and after 6 months use the finish of the materials are the same as it came out the box.Bad pointsThe light is quite heavily filtered, I have a good quality brand named 60w LED bulb in it and its not quite as bright as I would like.

This Steinel sensor light was far better than i expected! Also really glad i read the reviews and went with Amazons recommendation for the bulb.The Aura bulb really suited this light as it was very bright and really set it off.The light itself is modern stylish and was very easy to instal myself , sometimes the pir or the time delay are difficult to set but not on this one i found it really easy. I only needed a drill and screwdriver job done . I would recommend this if you need a stylish security light it is certainly well made and comes very well packaged 5 stars for me.

Having received and installed the lights within 24 hours I can say these were a pleasure to install and surely are very pleasing to eye due to the diffusion of the inner cover. I had tried lights from Screwfix and various other suppliers and now agree that you get what you pay for when it comes to German quality. We used a 8W LED E27 bulb in 2 of these. Even my 7 year old said "it makes the front look like a hotel". Whole family very pleased. I used these to replace some 15 year PIR black patterns so I already had the wiring in place - glad I did as experimenting with solar powered lights produced some very stark light. These produce a very warm light with the newer filament style LED bulb.

Purchased this to provide light at the side of the house leading onto the drive way. range is fantastic and the light projected is fantastic over a wide range. variable timing on sensor provides up to 30 mins light. would defiantly recommend. Already had several comments on how modern and clear looking the light is

I am very pleased with this light, it is attractive and the sensor works perfectly. I bought the recommended bulb which does not give a very bright light but is adequate. In time I shall replace the bulb for a brighter one. I definitely recommend this wall light.

Had a few outdoor lights now but without a doubt this is the best one we have had .very responsive and plenty of light .perhaps it could be a little cheaper but i gess you get what you pay for. Over all very very happy with this product

Good looking switch which works well . . . BUT there is only one hole in the case for allowing the wire to be accessed, which is off-centre. So if you have a wire coming out of the wall and want to replace an existing light in a specific location (in my case, centrally over a house name plate) you have to start drilling holes in the back cover
