Works fine
This is not a tool that can bounce around in the back of a pickup truck. It’s strong but has sone delicate parts necessitated by the design. Handles are not solid material . But, if you take care of these they are fantastic for installing some of the largest hog rings available. We are quite pleased.

significant design flaw
i used this to construct gabions using chain link fencing. it did work for that purpose but the amount of wasted time because of a product flaw was substantial.namely the hog ring feeder pivots causing the pliers to malfunction, and it’s easy to inadvertently bump the feeder while attempting to gather two or more wires into the pliers jaws.even the pictures supplied by the vendor show this. the user working on a chain link fence is going to bump the top of the feeder (which he can’t see) on the fence thereby causing the feeder to cant and the pliers to malfunction.

Made in the USA
These pliers are well made. I use it to close gaps in net wire fencing. Works well and the hog rings are heavy enough to do the job. Fast too. After using for a while, the pliers are more difficult to use because the next ring does not load easily. I wish there was a better battery operated plier.

Works for Gabion on horse and cattle panels
These do join horse panels and cattle panels to make gabion baskets. The fit is tight but workable. Easy to use. I've gone through 1500 rings and still working fine.

Pliers made of weak materials
We used the product to assemble gabion baskets. The product was fine until the pliers handle broke. We were able to slide a piece of pipe over the broken handle and continue our job. After approximately 200 more hog rings the pliers completely failed. We installed about half of the hog rings necessary to complete the job. These pliers are expensive and no warranty is available through Amazon. After contacting Malco they were rude and said that they wouldn’t warranty the pliers. We would not purchase these again.

Should have bought this years ago
This thing is a real work/time saver. Simple to operate, the only issue is it sometimes is a bit tricky in tight spots due to the magazine. You will find lots of uses for this thing after you have it.

Bought these as used, but they were like brand new. Worked perfect!.

Good tool for fencing and maybe gabion baskets.
The loading track holding the rings gets in the way frequently in tight areas. The last two rings sometimes fall out before you can clamp them. The price of the rings in Canada is way too high and I might not have bought the pliers if I had known this.
