Practice Exams for the California Seismic Principles Civil P.E. Examination Unknown Binding – January 1, 2015

This was what I needed to pass the Seismic Exam. I still did not get my results, but I am pretty confident I passed. The questions are pretty hard, which helped when I got to the test, because the test questions seemed either easier then these, or the same. I have bought other practice tests that were either the same or easier than the actual test, and they did not help me for the test. This paired with a course such as Hiner's should be good enough to pass.

Get this book! I passed the first time with only this book and two years of seismic work experience. This book comes with a cheat sheet that is worth the money alone. You also get example tests to take online.

I took the seismic exam in April 2015 and passed with first try. The only resources I relied on were Dr. Ibrahim’s review workbook, practice exams, and of course listening through his great review course. This is by far the best practice exams that provide ample practice questions for me to achieve the level of understanding needed for the exam questions. During the last stage of preparation, the computer based practice exams (CD) allowed me to find my weak points and get fully prepared for the real exam. They are really great practice exams very similar to the breadth and depth of the actual exam that I took in April 2015. I walked out the exam room knowing with confidence that I would pass the exam with first try since I estimated answering at least 90% of the exam questions correctly with no sweat, all due to Dr. Ibrahim’s great practice exam book, review workbook and great course.My review here is not only about the practice exams but also about his review course and workbook – Fundamentals of Seismic Analysis and Design of Buildings.Before I signed up for the course, I had absolutely no knowledge of seismic principles and had very little background in structural engineering. Using the study strategies he distributed through the beginning of the course, and considering my specific available time --working full time weekdays and having to take care of my young child during the early evening hours and weekend time, I was able to set up a schedule that allowed me to listen through his on-demand webinar lectures at my own pace (mostly during late evening hours), review the course materials, and do adequate practice problems. I would say that so long as you follow a good study plan, the on-demand webinar is just as effective as a live course or seminar.During his lectures, Dr. Ibrahim provided us with all the latest codes and all the problem solving skills to pass the exam. I would say that it would be impossible for me to grasp the essential concepts without listening through his lectures first since most of the subject materials were so foreign to me previously. The review book is well organized and everything is well explained in detail, allowing me to digest the course material adequately after listening the corresponding lectures. It also provides ample practice questions for me to achieve the level of understanding needed for the exam questions.Dr. Ibrahim really cared about each of his students passing the exam. He went above and beyond to make sure his students were prepared. Even though I was mostly relying on the on-demand webinar, he emailed me several times to check up on my progress and make sure that I was studying in a timely manner, and answer my questions beyond his course time. I have never seen someone like him who is so passionate about teaching and cares about his students.By now the exam is over for six months and my memories of the course materials have started to fade shortly after learning that I have passed the exam, however, the appreciations for Dr. Ibrahim’s course and devotion of time to his students have become deeper as time goes by. Thank you Dr. Ibrahim for your great professionalism and personality, great teaching skills, profound knowledge, and for helping me achieve my career goal!There is no better seismic review workbook and course than this one from Dr. Ibrahim. Dr. Ibrahim's course took me from absolutely no knowledge of seismic principles to passing the California special exam. I can't say enough about how much Dr. Ibrahim cares about his students. When I paid for the course, at no point did I expect the level of attention and the amount of time that Dr. Ibrahim dedicates to the course. All of my questions were answered via email within same day and in great detail so I truly understood the answer. He also gave me his personal cell phone and told me I could call anytime. Technically, he is an outstanding instructor and his material covered nearly everything I saw on the exam, with the exception that he warned us that the Board may introduce new topics/problems in the exam, which I did encounter. Dr. Ibrahim placed the emphasis on what to study, and the homework problems were very similar to the exam questions. But one of the major advantages that his course provides were the timed, practice exams. The CD he provides has two exams and are very similar to the Prometrics format. You could practice exam-like problems with the added pressure of the clock to work through all the problems. The same day after taking my exam, Dr. Ibrahim and I talked and he provided encouragement and support, believing I had passed more than I did myself. He was right, I passed and got my PE. No review class can guarantee you'll pass since it is up to each individual's effort to study the material, do the homework and exams, and stay on track, but If you're thinking about taking a Seismic review class, this is the one to take. It would be time and money well spent.

His material has a lot of really exam questions, a lot of short cuts (really help in save time in the exam) and his Videos easy to understand. Regardless of everything, the most important thing in his class for me is he really keep follow up with his students and never let you gave up. I pass because of his class and really recommended.
