Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9" Standing Leather Case, Onyx Black (will not fit HDX models)

This is probably one of the best tablet cases that I have ever used. It's simple (snap it in & go), doesn't have all these flaps & Velcro straps that a lot of them do & it auto-off's my Kindle when I shut it. If you are looking for a simple, well made case to protect your Kindle, this is the one. If you are looking for one that has flaps that you can adjust the unit to sit on its own (while movie watching, etc) this is probably not the best choice. Mine sits up perfectly fine on its own to watch a movie certainly, it's just not as secure as some of the others that are designed for that. It really is a perfect case for simple protection though & has a nice, simple design/look to it. The price was a bit more than I wanted to pay, especially considering what's out there & at what price point, but it's well designed & well made.The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was that mine came with, what appears to be, a large manufacturing error across the front of it. Likely, I will return it for the same one, but as it only affects the appearance, I didn't bring down the rating. Manufacturing errors happen & some times QA doesn't catch them all.Great case. Perfect fit (only for the Kindle HD 8.9"). Can't go wrong with this one.

This case is wonderful, I love that it shuts the Kindle down when it closes and wakes it up when it opens. It is nice and light, but feels strong enough to protect the Kindle. I love the color (persimmon)Update, I am having a problem with my Kindle fire 8.9 HD, the battery is not holding a charge for long, approx 2 hours when it is not being used. I called the Amazon customer care, and this guy tells me that the case is one of the major factors in the battery performance, because the magnets move, and confuse the Kindle as to what to do when you close the case, he also told me not to fold the case back when it is open, like you would fold a paperback book, as this also is part of the problem. He basically told me not to keep my Kindle in this case, the case was only designed as a stand for the Kindle, and I was to just use it to protect the Kindle while traveling!!When I asked why Amazon designed a case with these problems, and charges $55 for this case, and it can only really be used for traveling, he said "Amazon did not design it", I pointed out to him that it had 'Kindle' on the case, and he said "oh, anyone can put Kindle on a case"I was sure that I had read that Amazon had designed this case, and recommended it, on their site,(that was my main reason for buying it), so I checked on the web site, low and behold, there it is in black and white, 'Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9" Standing leather case' In the product description it says, 'OUR genuine leather case' and in the product features it says, 'Designed by Amazon' So, someone needs to check his facts before giving customers the wrong information!!I am still very happy with the case, and would still highly recommend it, and, because I tried leaving the Kindle out of the case, and doing that didn't make any difference to my battery, I am using the case constantly again.As for the battery not holding a charge, I am doing all the things like...Wi-Fi off when not needed, blue tooth off, volume off, brightness turned down low, etc, and I have it on charge constantly. I will be calling their customer services again soon, but I will refuse to speak to the person who attempted to deal with the problem during my last call, as I have no confidence that it will be solved.

I upgraded my Kindle and due to the cost I really wanted something to protect my investment. I went through 4 covers between my basic and Paperwhite, having each for only one year so I wanted to get a decent one for my Fire. After literally spending 1 hour reading reviews I knew I wanted leather and it was between this and the Marware cover. My daughter has last year's Marware cover. I chose this cover at first for the price difference, and bought through Amazon warehouse in "like new" condition. Came today and it looks brand new and I saved $16. just from not buying it new. Now compared to Marware, no doubt about my purchase. Thin, light, sturdy, amazing quality, well protected and since it's made specifically for Kindle, it clicks right in snuggly and is easy to hold and slip into my purse without being damaged. Would HIGHLY recommend this cover. If you don't spend the money you'll end up replacing them until you do. And look at the discounted ones. People buy, return for whatever reason, you save a lot of money and the only thing you don't get is the original box it came in that you would throw away anyway.
