Deer Hunter- Incredibly well made heavy winter jacket. A tough and great looking jacket.
I ordered the Swagman jacket first, but have reservations about the looks with the cape, so I decided to give this Deer Hunter jacket a try as an alternative. It's a great looking, comfortable, rugged, and utilitarian jacket. I'm very impressed with the manufacturing quality (although I haven't put any wear and tear on it yet). Zippers, snaps, collar, pockets...all heavy and well made. Its a much heavier jacket than the Swagman. This jacket would be more than comfortable through all but the very worst of our Southern New England weather. I would happily wear this out on a 15°F day. I'm going to guess it may be too warm for anything over 45° or 50° or so, though. Im 6'2", 255lbs. The XXL feels very, very slightly large, but this may actually be perfect for this jacket. I love it...I have a feeling I'm going to be very happy with this jacket for a long time.

Great looking and feeling
I’m usually a XXL in everything, however, I’ve sent this back for an XL. This is a really nice jacket, I love the pockets, and the quality of the zippers and snaps is top shelf. I’m looking forward to getting the replacement.

Insanely Well Made Product at an Awesome Price, (and True to Size)
Outback Trading makes some of the nicest outerwear you can find these days. Prices are fantastic for the quality you receive. One thing that I will say about sizing is, for me, it was true to size. As such, I ordered a large and had to return it for an XL. Seemed the size chart as well as other reviews made this particular jacket as being huge. I found that not the case for me. Also, another reviewer was complaining about plastic zippers. I'm not sure what they ordered because the Deer Hunter does, in fact, come with some heavy duty brass zippers that should last a lifetime. If you've never purchased oilskin before, don't worry. These aren't greasy or oily, they don't stain everything they touch, and the don't smell of some kind of chemical. I've owned many oilskins over the years, and this was my first purchase of Outback Trading's offerings. I'm sold. By far the best quality you'll find, and can't beat the price. These types of garments do require occasional re-waterproofing, but you're in a different realm than most clothing these days. These things are made to last you 20-30 years.

I love the coat.
This is a little heavier than I expected (actual weight wise - not "warmth"). It is very warm due to the fact it stops the wind pretty much completely. It looks good and has lots of pockets. (Ok - I'm sort of an overgrown kid in that department).Size-wise it seems to run a little big. I wear an XL in some coats and 2XL in others (this is more common). I ordered a 2XL and kinda wish I had gotten the XL.

Quality seems good, but was a poor fit for me.
I can tell that this is a really well made coat, but after buying and returning two of them, I can say that the large is too big for me, and the medium is too small. This coat just isn't cut for my body, it seems. Which is a shame, because I really, really wanted to love it. This shouldn't necessarily reflect on the quality of the product itself, but it's something to be aware of. I'm going to go ahead and give LL Bean and Barbour a try, though they are more expensive.

Warm but not too heavy
Love this jacket. Had another one I purchased for nearly 30 years . Durable, warm and water proof!

It was a good choice!
I had been searching for a leather jacket. Instead, I chose this because of the quality of the oilskin material, the workmanship, and the looks. I knew I made the right choice when, on the first day I wore it to work, a colleague asked me about it. After looking at it inside and out and asking me about where I got it she thanked me and said I just helped her check off another item from her Christmas list (for her husband).

Really happy with this jacket
Love the jacket! I'm 67", 165# and ordered the Medium. Overall fit is good - can wear it over a shirt, but also over a sportcoat or sweater if need be. Sleeves are just a tad long, but then they usually are for me. That's just the nature of standard sizing vs custom tailored. Definitely keeps the wind and rain out, and though I run 'warm', it's comfortable in high 40s low 50s weather. I'm pretty confident that I'll be comfortable right thru a New England winter with it, too.
