New Creative Team makes the days brighter and nights blacker!
This book introduces many new members to the Green Lantern Corps as the events of the First Lantern and Third Army killed many of the Corps' finest. Along with the other titles in the Green Lantern family, the book also introduces a new creative team- Rob Vendetti (Surrogates, The Homeland Directive, X-O Manowar, Demon Knights), Van Jensen (Pinocchio Vampire Slayer), and Bernard Chang (Supergirl, Neil Strauss's books). The storyline introduces Relic, a new villain (is he a villain?) tied directly to the Lights Out story- a thinly veiled fable about how freely we waste our resources. As a Green Lantern enthusiast and Geoff Johns/Peter Tomasi fan, I was nervous about the creative team change, but my concerns have been greatly relieved. The Green Lantern titles have ushered in an exciting new era where the Guardians are gone and the other Lantern Corps continue to distinguish themselves from the original Green. With Larfleeze and Sinestro getting their own titles, maybe a Star Sapphire book could be in the works, but until then, this title keeps the violet Lanterns close as John Stewart's girlfriend Fatality plays a major role. It's nice to see John Stewart take center stage here as well. While this book can be read by itself, I strongly recommend reading it in tandem with Green Lantern vol 4, Red Lanterns vol 4, and GL New Guardians vol 4.

JOHN STEWART finally gets his own series
John Stewart finally gets respect and stars in his own series. I like Geoff John's run on green lantern but he had a hard on for Hal Jordan and never let Stewart shine. Green lantern corps before wasn't bad it just really was a Guy Gardner book with Stewart supporting. Stewart is my favorite lantern so I was excited when the new direction was announced. This book continues with John and Yrra relationship and introduces John as the new drill instructor for the lantern recruits. Along the way John must deal with a new threat that could destroy the corps forever along with the tarnished stigma of being a lantern.4/5 Great start for a new direction with John Stewart in the lead. Recommended for any John Stewart fan about Damn time.

Hang in the Lantern Stewart!
John Stewart has always been my favorite Green Lantern and having him be the lead in this book makes it a return buy for me. Hal was cool back in the 70's and early 80's and then the writers went nuts and ruined him, Kyle pretty much always sucked and ended up being a pi**ing post anyway, and Guy Gardner never should have been a Green Lantern in the first place (at least he found a good home in the Red Lantern Corp. John has always been John and that's exactly what the Corp needs, especially after the rather Universe shattering events and the current disaster of the Corp which just steadily gets worse. As always, the artwork and writing are consistently good.

Great present for our grandson.
Our grandson felt he had to read this book immediately after opening his present. Definitely a hit.

Disjointed and unspectacular
Robert Venditti and Van Jensen take the Corps in a muddled direction. This collection only collects part of the ill-timed Lights Out story. Its disjointed and unfortunate. Every other issue seemed like I missed the previous. I would love to see John and Yrra explore their relationship but Venditti made it awkward. Also, the coloring on Fatality was so inconsistent. Not sure why this was done so poorly. The art overall was pretty good though. I'm not sure I like where the series is going but this book was a disaster.

John Stewart Leads a New Generation of GL Recruits
After last volume, Green Lantern Corp writer Peter Tomasi, left the series after doing it for about 7 years straight, while Geoff Johns spend 9 years doing the main title of Hal Jordan, Green Lantern. As with the other GL titles, New Guardians and Red Lanterns, all series writers/artist left after issue #20. Mostly indie writers took up the reigns of the four GL-based series. Charles Soule got Red Lanterns starring Guy Gardner, Justin Jordan got New Guardians starring Kyle Rayner, Robert Venditti got Green Lantern with Hal Jordan, and the most newest writer Van Jensen got GL Corp with Venditti as co-plotter, with John Stewart as lead character. And guess what? The series returns to the basis of illuminate the various Corp members and even give a little more insight on John Stewart.GREEN LANTERN CORP VOL.4: REBUILD collects issues #21-27 and GREEN LANTERN ANNUAL #2. After the events of the First Lantern, John Stewart is continuing his daily activities as keeping peace throughout the universe as a GL with his love interest and partner Star Sapphire, Fatality AKA Yrra. The GL Corp is in shambles from the First Lantern attack, and Hal Jordan has reluctantly taken the job of leader of the entire GL Corp. So the job of John Stewart is to find fresh new recruits to refill the ranks under his training. The thing about these new recruits is they need a lot of work in these tough times, and it doesn’t help when Relic, an omnipotent being attacks an already weakened GL Corp. Things are not looking so good for John and the Corp. The first aspect is writer Van Jensen continues the old ways (way before the New 52) of Peter Tomasi’s tenure of GLC by making the series a reasonably stand-alone set of adventures, but having ties to the main GL title, thanks in part with co-plotter Robert Venditti who is the new main series GL writer for Hal Jordan. So it’s an overall good series on its own, while being complimentary to the main GL title. Even the Lights Out crossover event with issues #24 and Batman: Zero Year tie-in for issue #25 really do not effect this series too badly. It’s a difficult aspect to do for any series like GLC in keeping its identity and tagging along with another series, but Jensen/Venditti does a commendable job. Hopefully this will last much like Tomasi/Johns work on the first years together on GL.Second, it’s a starring title for John Stewart, who has gotten the shaft the past couple of years in the GL comics with little to do other than being a background character, especially Tomasi neglecting him in the New 52 in favor of Guy Gardner (I like Guy!). So those fans who finally get to see John has his own starring title will be happy. I for one will admit John is my personal weakest earth GL (I like all the earth GLs though, mind you). He’s honorable and a highly dependable character, but for me, he doesn’t give off any sense of human personality (I guess the marine background) and he’s always in tough guy mode. Jensen and Venditti manage to slowly humanize John by adding a complicated relationship with Yrra and his role as teacher/instructor to his young recruits show John does have some human life, but also a sellable main characters as well. With Yrra having some solo time to sort out another plot looming in the background to make a pretty busy book. And third, this is a big for me, is the aspect of highlighting about the various GLC members. The creation of the GLC series since the 1980s was to show the wide range of members away from the main series, and although it’s never been a money maker for DC, it’s always been an interesting look at the numerous members. Tomasi started lessening the roaster over time to the beginning of the New 52, where it was about Guy and John (but mostly Guy). Various characters on the cover to GLC new52 issue #1 like Soranik Natu and Arisia who were heavy hitters pre-52 in the GLC were not present, now make proper returns and feel very welcoming of older readers, and yes, even new readers will like them. As for the new recruits John receives, I feel are some of the more enjoyable aspects I liked about this new creative team. We have a young battle loving alien, a mother/wife figure who see’s being a lantern as protecting her family, a mute and pacifistic short guy, and a vagabond to make a pretty odd-ball team that is similar to the dirty dozen. It’s a solid team book about and not just a solo title. For art duties, Bernard Chang does every issues except the GL annual and issue #25. His art is clean, detailed, and conveys a good sense of action and classic GL fantasy in his ring construct designs. He’s a solid artist, though he does slouch off around issue #27 a little bit. Still solid art, with Victor Drujiniu and Ivan Fernandez doing the Batman Zero Year tie-in issue #25 reasonably well.In terms of faults, the Lights Out cross over hampers the story a tad, but not too bad. And the Zero Year tie-in, as good as it is to convey a decent origin story for John, feels a little out of place. But seeing as GLC’s issue #0 was about Guy Gardner, it’s fair John got his own proper story. And the other thing is the inclusion of many pre-52 GL characters. As much as many older fans will praise their older pre-52 characters are back (I’m one of them), new readers will be as enthusiastic about them. And lastly, GLC is little rough in terms of new readers because of the previous storyline of the First Lantern carrying over.GREEN LANTERN CORP VOL.4: REBUILD really does live up to its title as Jensen and Venditti begin re-building the Corp by including the mass array of GL members, giving John his lead title with pleasing results, and great art. Some stumbles from the Lights Out crossover and rough jumping on point are flaws, but small. GL Corp is a engaging title for those who want to read about John, the Corp, or both.

John Stewart is finally used to his potential in this cosmic adventure story.
John Stewart is finally used to his potential in this cosmic adventure story. Highly recommended to fans of Green Lantern John Stewart from the Justice League cartoon shows, or anyone who is interested in space operas. The art by Marcelo Maiolo and Bernard Chang is just stunning. Writer Van Jensen mixes humor, action, adventure, and romance to put out a fun tale with dire stakes.Highly recommended.

Not so quite Spectacular episode of the Green Lantern Saga.
This installment was not so exciting and thrilling as the previous Green Lantern graphic novels of "Green Lantern Corps (2011-2015)" series. It was however interesting to read and follow the ongoing saga of the Green Lanterns. Serious things happen to Oa , the Green Lanterns and also to the new recruits. The flashback of John Stewart's past was great and the story played out well enough. The artwork was good and full of colour.
