Should have bought a second one sooner!
The media could not be loaded. As a video editor, I bought one HS5 maybe 5-7 years ago and ran it with a Roland Duo-Capture EX. Sat in my closet for the last 3 years and just brought it back out after overhauling my whole desk and setup. Decided to buy a second one now and WHY DIDN’T I DO THIS YEARS AGO. I forgot how crisp and clean the sound is from these. My 7 year old HS5 is still going strong like it is brand new. A testament to the quality of this product. Now running them both with a Scarlett 2i2 gen 4 audio interface and just wow. For those wondering if the HS5 is big enough, get these and pair them with the HS8S subwoofer. That is my next purchase.

Great audio, high-end and durable
The speakers are great I was going to Get the rok it speakers that everybody has however, a friend that’s in the DJ scenes suggested these speakers and I am so glad that I went with them. They are extremely high and have extremely great audio sound and they are extremely durable. I’m using them to teach myself how to DJ and I am so glad I went with them. I would highly highly recommend them for all of your needs.

Good sound
Clean sound. Only issue is there’s some static noise that comes up now and then if I leave it plugged in for awhile but I’m coming to the conclusion that it probably has to do with the cord

Glad that I finally pulled the trigger
Glad that I finally pulled the trigger and bought these wonderful monitors on sale. After watching the end-of-year sales for the last four years, I finally bought these. The HS5 have fair separation, clean and clear sound, and tight bass. On the bass, if this is your sole sound system, wait for a sale and grab the HS8 woofer to fill-out the bottom end frequencies for the HS5 is only a 5 inch speaker. Overall, they just sound better than the other monitors that I own.Are the HS5 neutral? Mostly. I have little tolerance for hot or very forward or bassy speakers and headphones. The HS5 strikes a good balance for a 5 inch monitor.

Good compact monitor, keep away from noise sources
I produce a prerecorded Internet radio show and have been upgrading my studio the past few months. One weak point has been the monitors I had been using, which really were not studio monitors--they were Logitech multimedia speakers. They are good in their own right, but I finally got tired of fiddling around with volume because the output to them from my mixer was too much. Hence, upgrading with real studio monitors. The Yamaha HS5 Powered Studio Monitors work for me because of size and cost. Once I installed them, I was really impressed, despite the low bar to overcome from their predecessors, the multimedia speakers. I had rated them at four stars originally because one monitor developed a static clicking sound, even with nothing attached. What I discovered was that the source was a nearby wifi router, less than a foot away. I repositioned the nearest router antenna and the noise went away. Unfortunately I had already kicked off a replacement from Amazon and turned it right around upon arrival.
