Exceptional Vacuum Built To Last
For decades Electrolux vacuum cleaners were my go-to for home vacuum cleaning. When Electrolux departed the vacuum cleaner business in 2017 the quality of remaining vacuum collection bags for their machines steadily decreased to the point of complete inadequacy. Since my October 1, 2021 purchase of this Miele Complete C3 Marin Canister Vacuum Cleaner not once have I experienced any problems. It is living up to its Consumer Reports #1 rating for Upright Canister Vacuum Cleaners for it is well built of solid components and user friendly. NOTE: I strongly urge YOU to discard the factory-installed collection bag. Chances are high it is dated. This means the bag's suction seal may not be as strong as store-purchased bags always are and have been for me since my purchase on Oct. 1, 2021. My household consists of four medium-size rescued dogs and three rescued cats. There are numerous area rugs on top of hardwood floors throughout my two-level home. This includes three large kitty litter boxes containing non-clay kitty litter which does end up outside of the boxes across the laundry room rug. I decided on this Miele vacuum cleaner because the Power Brush seems to have the most power of all Miele models. I am very happy with this machine and its six vacuum-power settings in addition to the five Power Brush settings depending on carpet pile height. This machine is quieter than my Electrolux UltraOne Series canister vacuum was and it is lighter in weight, too! My Miele Complete C3 Carin is very easy to maneuver around the room while vacuuming. The air filtration quality of the Miele GN model bags can't be beat. Never have I encountered a sneezing attack while vacuuming throughout my house nor have I ever picked up on foul pet hair odors while vacuuming because of these bags in addition to the filter on the machine. The electric cord length is more than adequate. I highly recommend you hold the cord and provide resistance while engaging the foot pedal to begin the self-coiling mechanism. This will help the electrical cord recoil with ease. Chances are high you will need to adjust the wand height when switching from the Power Brush to the Parquet (hardwood) Floor brush. It took a little while for me to get to know which buttons need to be pressed and/or released when adjusting the wand height and the brush nozzle, as well as when switching between cleaning heads (Power Brush vs Parquet Brush). While vacuuming if you tilt the wand all the way to an upright position the Power Brush will automatically turn off while the wand remains turned on and in the upright position. This "park" position is very convenient while moving furniture and the likes. In conclusion if you have pets I highly recommend the Mini Handheld Turbo brush. This small handheld brush is best used attached directly to the handle of the vacuum (excluding the wand) and makes for easy pet hair pick-up on furniture and what have you. It is more loud than the usual vacuum sound because of the turbo component so plan accordingly. Happy cleaning! I think you will be very happy with this purchase.

Amazing. 6 Stars, Maybe 7!
It's really hard to spend this much money on a vacuum cleaner that doesn't come & clean your house for a year while you read a book. After my Kenmore died, my neighbor recommended this, a gift she requested for her wedding 15 years ago (ok, the top of the line then). Grabbed my Kindle & winced when I pushed "buy". She was here when it arrived, I vacuumed first, then she had to use it. I must say, the construction is impressive. The hose is made of heavier material than any other vacuum I've owned. The telescoping wand is also heavy duty & infinitely adjustable. The swivel action is smooth, the canister doesn't twist, turn, or fall over. There are 6 speeds, you can set the lighted head to automatic & it adjusts between carpet & bare floor; It's a tap of the foot. Long cord so you're not constantly moving the plug. Did I mention it is quiet? Yes, you can hear the phone ring while vacuuming. Oh, and it's lighter than any of the Kenmores I've owned (this from a woman beyond the half century mark). And most important: the suction is AMAZING! Cat hair? No problem! Old house dust woes? Aced. Is it worth 2 other vacuums? Never thought I'd say Oh Yes. Yes. Yes it is. August 29, 2016: Can't believe I still like to vacuum. My eye-rolling husband who thought it couldn't be better than, say, 3 Kenmores, used it & was quite impressed. Especially when he vacuumed by the cat who just watched the back & forth action. So yes, it's really sucks in a good way, as vacuums should, it's quiet, you can hear the phone ring, and it doesn't scare the cat. AND my husband vacuumed.

Brush head no longer works
UPDATE: When it worked, it was amazing. One year and 2 months later, now the fancy brush head wonโt work. Itโs $315 for a replacement. NO vacuum repair place near me will repair it since it was purchased on Amazon. DO NOT BUY THIS ON AMAZON. Only buy locally, as thatโs what all the repair shops will honor for warranty repairs. Iโve used this for four months now. This thing is freaking amazing. My hard floors are cleaner than they have ever been! I always have very dirty floors from having a dog, cat, dirt tracked in from my barn, and dirt from living on a dry desert dirt road. This vacuum picks up everything. It feels like I mopped the floor after I vacuum: no grit or fine dirt dust left on the floor. When I mop after vacuuming, the water/soap bucket has no dirt in it like it had contained for years. I have always bought Hoover uprights. They donโt compare at all to the suction and cleaning power that this vacuum has. I find the attachments a little hard to get on and off the pole/hose, but Iโm getting much better at it. I like the onboard storage for tools, very handy and the tools donโt fall off like the old Hoover upright. The small tools are standard, canโt vacuum up my catโs super fine and long hair off furniture or cat tower. No tools ever have, this wasnโt a big surprise to me. The tools work well for shelve dusting, baseboards, leather couch crevices and such. I found the printed instruction manual too general, not specific to this model. I had go online to figure out how to reset brush rollers after sucking up a carpet. I made notations in useless manual for easier future reference. In reading other peoplesโ low reviews, they stated that there was an issue with the floor brush roller shorting out. I havenโt found this to be true, as when you have the pole up right it shuts off the brush motors so that it can sit there and rest โoffโ while youโre moving furniture or whatever. None of that is a dealbreaker, as this vacuum cleans my floors and carpeting better than ever been cleaned before. And I donโt want to forget to add that this vacuum is SO QUIET that my 10-year-old cat (who has been terrified of vacuums his whole life) doesnโt even leave the room now when Iโm vacuuming. Easy to maneuver brush roller floor attachment, itโs a back and shoulder saver for this senior gal. I have tipped canister over on carpeting, but Iโve never had a canister that follows behind me. It takes getting used to moving it out of the way instead of stumbling over it. LoL. I hope their quality stands the test of time, I would replace again with same quality vacuum in future. I would absolutely recommend this vacuum to anybody who wants genuinely clean floors.

Go for broke and get the electrobrush!
I researched this purchase and paid for it with my own money -- which isn't the same as getting a free vacuum to review! I first purchased the C3 Calima, and returned it because mine didn't have a handle (hard to push the vacuum around while gripping the hose) and I strongly disliked the non-powered carpet brush. This version is a big improvement over the C3 Calima, in both areas. It has a nice handle which makes it much easier to use. The electrobrush is also a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the non-powered version. After trying both, I'd suggest you avoid the non-powered carpet brush unless you truly have NO rugs in your home. I have tile floors with several flat-pile area rugs, and I thought the non-powered brush would be fine, but it was truly a pain to use. The electrobrush is much easier; the auto suction setting works perfectly on most of my rugs, and the LED lights are nice to help you better see what you are cleaning. You should be aware that the electrobrush plus the powered extension handle add significant weight to the vacuum. I wouldn't want to be carrying these up and down the stairs. Other features of the vacuum are the same: It has excellent HEPA filtration (there are actually 3 filters to replace on this vac -- the bag itself, a filter on the motor, and the HEPA filter, so I feel like this vacuum is really cleaning the air in my home!), the cord retractor is very nice, the vacuum rolls easily and is compact and easy to store (except for the electrobrush). The parquet twister brush is excellent and my favorite part of this vacuum. The vacuum is relatively quiet. I can vacuum without disturbing the entire household. The included attachments aren't great on upholstery; it looks like the mini handheld turbobrush may be in order to get pet hair off upholstery. Overall, I think this is the best combination of features available on the Miele. It's unfortunate that you have to spend this much money to get excellent HEPA filtration and a powered carpet brush, but having used the next model down, I'd say, go for broke!

Powerful, Quiet, Workhorse for People Who Vacuum Every Day!
This is a great vacuum and I highly recommend. It's surprisingly quiet (you can talk - loudly but without shouting), has powerful suction, an extra long 30' cord, easy maneuverability (the brush heads swivel), and the bright LED light on brush head helps when cleaning in darker rooms or around furniture that blocks the room light. Most impressive to me is the way the canister glides over the floor, even over the power cord when it's in the way (which was always a problem with my previous canister vacuum). The auto adjustable suction strength feature (which I originally dismissed as unnecessary) is also surprising useful because it allows the brush head to seamless vacuum over an area rug to bare floor without "sucking up" the rug edges. I previously I owned a Simplicity Canister vacuum - an American "Made" (designed and assembled) brand which, in my analysis, is similar to Miele on both quality and price. Indeed, my 10 year old Simplicity has similar features to this modern day Miele model. When it came time to replace my Simplicity the lack of distribution in my area (1 authorized dealer in all of Seattle!), and a manufacturers web site that looked like it was 20 year old, gave me pause. After a lot of research, I bought the Miele Complete C3 model and couldn't be more pleased. Compared to my Simplicity it performs equally or better in all functions - except one item. Simplicity has a fairly ingenious mechanism for extending or shortening the telescoping wand a nearly effortless task. With the Miele I have to exert a fair amount of pressure on a button to perform the same function. It's not necessarily difficult - but there is no comparison to the ease of the Simplicity. I have to assume Simplicity must have this patented. I'd give this 4.5 stars if I could - but I rounded up to 5 because overall this is a great cleaning machine! (PS. Due to a very hairy dog and living near a busy street, I vacuum almost every day - highly recommend this for Pet owners or anyone that has heavy vacuuming needs).

A good vacuum with a ballooning price tag
This is a very good vacuum. I owned mine for 9 years and the only issue I have is the powerbrush upright lock position broke about 6 years in. It still works, it just doesnโt lock in the upright position. Other than that itโs been a very reliable vacuum. All Iโve done for maintenance is to change the bags and filters. Itโs extremely good at filtering the air, too. Another positive is that this vacuum is actually easily repairable and serviceable. I know someone who uses this in her cleaning business and there are a few local appliance shops who service these vacuums with readily available parts, so, thatโs something to consider, especially given the price. I could have my power head fixed fairly cheaply if I wanted, I just havenโt found the need. Some gripes I have are: The power brush doesnโt lay flat straight on when you are vacuuming under something like a bed. You have to turn the handle 90 degrees for the power head to lay flat with the handle down to push under a bed. The hose doesnโt swivel at the canister. If youโre moving around a lot then it sometimes binds up and can throw the canister off balance. Not a big deal most of the time, but, something to consider. The brushes and crevice tools on the model I bought 9 years ago are really small. I think you can buy larger ones, but I donโt believe theyโll fit in the body. I was looking at buying another one of these for my parents and I saw that the price on here is now north of $1,300. That puts this thing in the Sebo price category, and I think for a little more you can get the top Sebo. Thatโs a lot of money for a vacuum, especially given that these things are at least 1/2 that price in Europe, so youโre paying a premium in the U.S. The top of the line comparable Kenmore I think is around $390, and it does everything almost as well as the Miele, at 1/3 of the price. I doubt that this is 3 times better than the Kenmore, but, I wouldnโt be surprised if it lasted 3 times as long. I guess itโs up to you if itโs worth it. At current prices, over 10 years you could buy 1 Miele, or 3 of the kenmores spaced out over 10 years and still be cheaper. Of course thatโs a lot of waste, but, itโs something to consider. I did have other vacuums like older kenmores for over 10 years with no issues, so, thatโs also something to think about.

Life changing for dog hair!
I'm glad I followed the advice that I uncovered while researching this vacuum: If you have the largest yellow Labrador Retriever known to man, you need a bagged vacuum. I thought my bagless Shark vacuums were pretty amazing. But they've needed replacing. And they spewed musty-smelling exhaust. This Miele not only aggressively takes on anything thrown its way, but it does so quietly and obediently โ no clogs, no complaints, and no emissions. It comes with every attachment you could imagine, the smaller ones fitting tidily into a little compartment on top of the canister. And pulling this little wonder behind you is easy thanks to wheels that glide over uneven carpets and a long cord that, when done, quickly rewinds at the touch of a button. All the buttons, btw, are big and easily activated with the tap of your toe, reducing the need to constantly bend down, including the half-dozen settings for everything from upholstery to curtains to max power for thick rugs. So if you have a big dog that sheds like no tomorrow and you've seriously considered throwing all your black wool and fleece clothing out the window, along with the army of lint rollers you religiously keep near the door, try this vacuum first. It will change your mind andโit's hard to believe I'm attributing this to a vacuumโyour quality of life!

3 month Update
I did love this vacuum at first. After four months, it is not the greatest. I paid over 1000.00 for this vacuum. I could have bought a 300.00 vac and it probably would work just as well. I bought it because of all the filters. I wanted my home to have clean air. The canister, for some reason fills with dust and dirt every time I clean. The bags are outrageously expensive. I was willing to pay more for bags, if it was worth it, but they are not. Every time I vacuum the vacuum turns off as you pull back. The instructions say that if the handle is held upright or something is caught in the brush it will turn off, but it turns off all the time,. I push forward and it goes, I pull back and it stops. It has a lot of settings, so you have options for suction. In my opinion, it just gets louder on higher power, it does not suck any better or stronger. My opinion, buy a hover or eureka it will do the same job, a lot cheaper.

This is a great vacuum cleaner
Wow. This is a great vacuum cleaner. Powerful suction ... cleans really well. My only criticism is that the powerhead for use on carpets is big and heavy. With everything else being so wonderful, couldn't this company have come up with something a little lighter and smaller? But aside of this one problem..... you can't beat this vacuum. It's body is lightweight and easy to carry around. Love the way the attachments are stored in the body of the vacuum. The retractable power cord is wonderful. I bought this at the same time I bought a Dupray steam cleaner, and ---between the two of them---there's no cleaning job I can't handle now!

Portable and Powerful
Lighter than my Eletrolux, with just as good suction

It's quiet.
Very quiet, only thing I don't like is it's difficult on stairs, and I prefer also the floor part not to swivel, as it looks nicer after it's vacuumed that way.
