Lightweight and sturdy
Very light, and rolls up very small for travel or when not in use. Material is thin but strong. No rigid panels, frame, or padding - great for fitting in one more thing, but if you’re carrying something hard or pointy you may want something soft behind it.Great for anything - you can fill it up with books, take it traveling, or take it in your pocket to hold your winter jacket while you shop.

The Magical Backpack! [UPDATED TWO YEARS LATER]
UPDATE:It's been two years since I got this bag and it is still a little amazing wonder! I'm finally caving and buying another because after two years of abuse, the water resistance isn't what it used to be. Other than that? The bag looks just as it did the day I got it (but a little dirtier). There are no rips or tears or snags anywhere. I will continue to use this bag for some things but I need that water resistance. I think that the abuse it's taken over the two years it has served me is above and beyond anything any other bag could've survived (I had one piece of expensive luggage not survive the same trips as this backpack)My bag has served me extremely well during my initial month long adventure mentioned in the first review. It then spent Christmas in Budapest, tons of short trips near home, January and February well above the Arctic Circle in Finland, a month island hopping in Greece, and a last minute trip to see the solar eclipse in Oregon. I love it and it has definitely served me well. I look forward to the new adventures I will have with my new (more water resistant) bag!****************************************************************This bag has wowed and amazed people the world over. Well, not the whole world but a few countries and I've no doubt that it will continue to wow and amaze.I bought it specifically for a month long urban adventure with my mum in Europe where we had a flat and shopped at markets and grocery stores. This pack lived in my regular travel bag and, occasionally, in my purse (which is not a large purse by any means) ready for any occasion we would need a larger bag or when we would stop at the market or grocery for provisions. I was always met with skepticism when I turned down a plastic bag and pulled out this tiny, green pouch. At one grocery, the employee was so fascinated that she demanded that I "do it again" while she called her co-workers over to witness the magic of a sizable backpack emerging from a little pouch. My mum, of course, asked me if they were going to burn me at the stake as they all oooh'd and aaaaaah'd at the "magic!" She's precious, my mum.The bag also came in handy for wet swimming suits and wet towels and, turned inside out, dried out straightaway. You can stuff a shocking number of items in here. Items with corners, heavy items, delicate items... It's like Mary Poppin's bag, really. Best of all, it's really comfortable to wear once you've shoved bottles of drink and dinner and breakfast for two (plus a bottle of liquor) in it.I remember reading others mentioning height issues so I'm a whopping 5'2" and it worked fine for me. My mum is somewhere just under 5' and she was comfortable wearing it as well.

Nice daypack.
I have plenty of backpacks, but I wanted something easily packable that could use as a day pack. I'm going on a cruise in a few months and some of our excursions are 9 hours. I thought this would be helpful. It folds down into a very small pouch, and it is very lightweight. Two things that were important to me. It has three different zippered compartments plus a divider in the main compartment (nice size for an iPad). Surprisingly, I could fold it back down into its self-contained pouch when I was done using it, which was nice (they provide a little card that shows you how to do that). The capacity was very good as something I could put in my suitcase for traveling without taking up much weight or space, yet open it up into a quite nice size for holding all of my belongings for a day. The shoulder straps are quite thin (wide enough, just not very thick), making me worry about comfortably carrying it around too much, but the straps are adequate given I'm not wearing it for six or eight hours at a time, nor am I making this very heavy. All in all, I'm quite pleased with this purchase.

I love this thing!
I bought this backpack about 5 months ago and wanted to use it a few times before writing a review. I love this thing! It compacts so small. It’s perfect for travel when you need a nice quality day pack. I also used it for a 20 mile hike/race. It was super light, comfortable, breathable, carried all my rain gear, snacks, waterbottle, wallet, hat. Walking sticks were a little hard to carry in there.. it wasn’t tall enough for some foldable walking sticks. The material and zippers are quality and seem to still be holding up to the abuse I put it through. I definitely would gift this to someone that likes to travel or go on spontaneous adventures!

My Go To Day Pack for Global Travels
This is my goto daypack for all my world wide travels. It is pretty durable and surprisingly strong, even when I load it up with heavier items. It's my favorite because it is the most lightweight of all day packs I use, while carrying a lot of items. I also have the Venture Pal, but it's thicker and thus heavier as well. I would love them to keep making these backpacks -- I get new ones every 3 years but I use these backpacks on heavy duty trips and hikes everyday. I see lots of ads by different other day packs while Outlander seems less visible in the lists... however, it is no doubt one of the best out there and is incredibly good value (esp compared to other day packs).

Lightweight bag great for trips
Great bag, especially for the price. I bought this bag in 2018 but my planned trip was cancelled and I didn't get to use it for a few years. I finally used this bag on a two week trip to east Asia a few years ago and it performed wonderfully. It worked great as a day pack to supplement or replace my purse, depending on what I was doing. I've since brought this on several other trips and have used it with no issues. If you are looking to haul a lot of gear, this is probably not the bag for you. If you want to carry around standard tourist stuff, while not taking up too much space in your luggage, it is perfect.
