Requires surgery on your cabinets
Just one thing to clarify, in case it's not obvious from the other reviews: this isn't really an under cabinet range hood. It's wall mount. You could add a vent cover and use it free standing and it would look great.Everyone seems to buy it to mount under a cabinet though, and based on the description and the reviews, that's why we bought it too. And it can work great as an under cabinet exhaust hood. We're really happy. What you need to know: it mounts to the back wall. If you want to mount it under a cabinet, you will have to cut away the back of the cabinet to expose the wall. And I don't mean just cutting a hole. You have to remove a big portion of the the back and bottom of the cabinet, structurally altering it, so that the entire body of the range hood can touch the back wall. You will need tools, like an oscillating saw or a dremel, plus a drill.Once you've done that, you can hang it on the back wall with two screws. Chances are that you won't have studs located in the right spot, so you'll be using drywall anchors. And then in all likelihood, as other reviewers have noted, it won't fit tightly and evenly against the underside of the cabinet. You'll need to drill holes through the metal underside of the hood and screw it to the bottom of the cabinet. We used four screws. In our case, the vent opening was a different size than our old exhaust hood, and it was not lined up nicely, so just adding an adaptor did not fix it. No standard duct fitting would connect it to the vent in the back wall, because the angle was too tight. To make it work, we had to do more surgery, modifying the standard duct pieces that you can buy at a hardware store, and taping them up nicely to make an airtight seal. This ended up as a much more complicated job than we'd expected and it pushed the limits of what we can do ourselves. If that sounds like too much effort for you, a handyman or contractor should be able to get it installed perfectly.Once you realize that it's not exactly an under cabinet hood, and that you can modify the cabinet to install a wall mounted range hood, well, that opens up some possibilities. A lot of wall mounted range hoods could be installed inside a cabinet with enough carpentry work. We're really happy. The only minor complaint, apart from the difficulty of installation, is that we wish it had touch controls rather than physical buttons for cleanliness. But that's very minor. We love it.

Heavy, strong, and noisy
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this range hood to replace an over-the-counter microwave with built-in hood which did not vent well enough. This range hood is spec'd at 750CFM, and I have no reason to doubt that. I tried it out prior to installing and there is a small hurricane coming out of it.It is very heavy and feels well-made. You will need a second person to install it, it is impossible to keep it in place with one hand while mounting it. It looks good as well, although your taste might be different of course. The lights are fairly good and will provide ample lighting for your cooking.Suction-wise there are three options. "Quiet", medium, and high. The video starts with the "quiet" option turned on. As you can hear, it's not necessarily very quiet. The one problem I have with it is that when you're on medium or high suction, you can hear a whistle (again, check the video). I found that this is due to the design of the vent covers which seem to limit the air intake. When you remove one of the covers you can hear that the whistling stops. One remark of a practical nature: the vent output is a 6 inch pipe. My external pipe was a 7 inch, so I went to Home Depot and got a 7-inch damper which is taped with proper duct time (the real metal one) to the hood. That works fine (oh, and before you ask, yes I checked and that's not where the whistling sound comes from). My home-office sits on the other side of the wall and with our previous over-the-counter microwave I would hear a lot of vibration when the suction was turned on. With this range hood the noise is minimal in my office. All in all I'm pretty happy with the end result. But again, make sure you have some help when installing.

Best in a class of one
Given the space constraints in our kitchen, I believe this was the best option on the market. The unique "blower above" design made all the difference. But I took off one star for a couple basic design flaws that could easily be corrected, and would truly take this unit to the next level.First, the air intake on the 30" unit is relatively small and located way to the back of the unit. Make each grate a little narrower, and 3 could fit instead of two, which leaves a fair amount of dead space on each side. Also, it would be nice if the air intakes were closer to the front. Sometimes smoke escapes when using the front burners. Also, it's relatively difficult to mount the unit so that there is no gap between it and the bottom of the cabinet. I resolved this by mounting with some turnbuckles, but I believe the factory mounting method is insufficient.

Great Low profile hood with a powerful motor.
If you are looking for a hood unit with a low profile and will exhaust so well that you neighbor knows what you are eating then this is the unit. We do a lot of cooking and I need a unit that was powerful enough to exhaust things but had a low enough profile to allow us to actually cook on the stove. The fan has 3 settings, Quiet, Low and High. The Quiet is really Low and Low is High and High is Plade from Spaceballs. The motor is hidden in the cabinet, so it took some work to install it. I cut the back out of the cabinet to put in a solid wood backstop for the fan to mount too and I had to build a shim to level it out. I saw some people do some crazy things but it was actually easy to level it out. I took a star because it was shipped in a huge box with almost no protection. One of the baffles broke in the shipping, but I was able to fix things.

Good quality, functional and good price but requieres time to install
Similar to other reviews installation was not that fast. I reinforced the back of the kitchen cabinet to provide better support and added some brackets (stainless steel for bookshelves also from Amazon) to avoid sagging. It has been working for 6 months and we are pretty happy with this hood.We use low and mid levels for the most part, unless we are deep frying. Loud on the high speed but expected.Good quality, functional and at a reasonable price.

The best priced, powerful, modern range hood you will find
The media could not be loaded. Beautiful design, slim profile for modern kitchens. This is the only reasonably priced option with powerful cfm, if you're in a retrofit situation, like I was and you're not interested in a slide out hood. Great suction and the filters clean easily in the dishwasher. Much easier to clean than my previous mesh filter. The filters are very heavy but they are held up with a retractable hook plus earth magnets so that its easy to install and remove.Like others have noted, you need to hardwire this unit out of the box, which was not compatible for my situation. The wires are also really short. I bought a wired plug (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B015R1Z08I?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title) to solve this. Very easy to do, and it allowed me to test the unit before installing it on the wall. The unit is surprising held up by only two brackets at the top of the unit. I was prepared to add additional supports on the sides to prevent sag, as noted in other reviews, but as I went through the install process, realized this was not necessary. I used the cardboard box that the unit came with to make a paper template of the overall unit and brackets to correctly mark the screw locations on the wall. Once you hook the unit onto the wall with the first 2 screws, the unit might sag a little, but as soon as you tighten them up and add the final 2 screws each side of the bracket, it lift up and sit super snug under the cabinet.Very happy, huge improvement over my previous unit. Makes cooking and cleaning with a gas stove a lot easier.

Install issues. Manufacturer's flaw ...
Arrived quickly and it is a beautiful hood. The manufacturer of this item definitely needs to rethink the mounting brackets on this unit as it was extremely difficult to install and have it hang properly. There are only two tiny mounting brackets holding the unit at the back. Don't know what the heck they were thinking. In the end we shimmed at the back - not ideal. Also, make sure your electrician brings an access box to hold/contain the wiring. Nothing was provided. Other than that, unit looks and works great.

Came and was installed. Sagged on both sides of vent because there is no support except center part. This made a Gap on both sides of cupboard. Then the lights didn't work and we had to have someone come to our house to service because it had already been installed. This was covered but still had to take 1/2 day off work. Hope it lasts!!!Pro:powerful vent

Overall is good, installation is a little tricky
Installation is little tricky if you have it back on drywall and does not have a stud in right place to hang. I actually secure one side on a cabinet board
