Gilbert Zenon Trainer Rugby Ball

I had no issues filling this up and using it. It did die an untimely death when a friend kicked it into a thorny tree, but it was equivalent to stabbing it with a knife so it makes sense that it had a hole in it by the time we got it down. Good quality otherwise.

I bought this as a replacement ball for my first Zenon that I left at the practice field that walked away. It's a decent ball - not great. Very slight shape problem on one end, but it's good for what it is. Good grip. Fairly true flight. Has a tendency to knuckle on some kicks. Holding air fairly well.

Good ball, nice grip. Other reviewers mentioned problems with the seams, or rapid loss of air - ours is in perfect shape, no problem with staying inflated. In my experience, these are good quality, inexpensive rugby balls. Well worth having.

I've had this ball for about 7 years and I'm still using it. It became egg shaped early on and so I've been using it as a practice ball.

This is a decent ball I say that because it falls short after inflation. Once inflated the ball has sum bumps where the seams are.They are noticeable when receiving the ball and tossing. Other than that the ball as far as practice for beginners the price is superb as far as a practice ball goes. If your looking for some balls to get torn up this is the ball

This ball is pretty good for the price. The cover is definitely more durable than on a match ball. The bladder tends to deflate pretty quickly, needing a pump up every couple days, but that's no big deal. The craftsmanship is not on par with the match balls, either -- but again, at this price, I think this is a good value. Has good feel and flight characteristics.

Doesn't like to hold air at first but I imagine that has to do with the air bladder inside shifting - but it still doesn't inflate fully, and the seams are a bit wavy. I'm hoping this will even out over time, or if I can manage to get it fully inflated. All and all it's a cheap ball, and the quality shows. It should be an acceptable practice ball though.

Overall this is a fine practice ball. The ball has a very nice overall shape, and the grip is fantastic in its new condition. However, as others have noted it does not retain air very well. My ball deflated completely overnight. A bit of Stan's no tubes liquid latex in the ball solved the issue completely which indicates a quality issue to me. With the no tubes in the ball, it has been a great performer.

This ball is perfect for junior hands. The grip on this ball is good and the size makes it ideal for junior aged children or young teenagers, whilst not compramising one inch on playability. With a kicking tee you can punt this ball right the way down the rugby pitch or through the posts as easily as a full sized adult ball. You will need to buy a pump seperately though.

The Gilbert ball feels really grippy when first pumped up.The ball can generate good spin when thrown and travel far when kicked.I was disappointed that the ball did not come back to me after I kicked it and I had to go and get it, really annoying! Maybe I should get a retriever.

Great ball. brought for my son , just had to get some new pump needles to fit to his pump! Took another week before he could pump it up as didn't have the needles!

Excellent quality. Great introductory ball for little players.

My Grandson is well on his way to playing rugby for Wales and this Gilbert Zenon Rugby Training Ball (size 5) is only going to help him. He is well pleased with it and says it's a "quality ball", you can't ask for more than that and the price was good too.
