This is the best clay that I have found to make paw prints/impressions. We have started doing paw prints at various times throughout our pet’s lives. We use one pack of clay for kittens under ~8 months old and two for adult cats. If you were doing a pet that weighed over 16 pounds you might want to use more clay. (I’m going to try three packs for our 50 pounder, and will open another pack if necessary.) The clay is easier to work with if it is about body temperature, I put it under one of the cat heating mats for about an hour before we open it. Using the clay straight from the manufacturers package, we knead it a bit, roll it into a smooth sphere/ball, and then flatten it into a thick round coin shape with ] squarish edges. The one we did with a flatter edge looks sort of haphazard, like the pancake-batter-was-runny. Place the coin on a smooth flat surface with a piece of parchment paper or foil under it. The parchment paper is easy to peel off without distorting your impression. Gently press the pet’s paw onto the clay. Press on the top of each toe and the middle of the foot. Expect two or three practice runs. If you are doing a five-year-old human handprint expect several more runs because this is funny and way too much fun. Once you’re satisfied with the paw print impression you can inscribe their name and date on the reverse and just let it dry at room temperature. If some toe bean impressions aren’t as deep as you want, but the rest of the impression is good I use a spoon-shaped dental tool to deepen/add definition to the print. If the entire impression is unacceptable, just knead the clay a bit, roll it into a ball, flatten into that thick coin shape again, and start over. After drying, we have finished some with nail powder (pearl, mica, etc.), but that isn’t necessary. The colors stay vibrant (our prints aren’t in direct sunlight) and the dry clay has a natural matte finish. The finished dry product seems fairly durable, it doesn’t flake, crack, or crumble. Unlike the ceramic prints, I wouldn’t expect these dried prints to shatter if dropped from counter height, not sure. My apologies for length.

4year had a lot of fun with this, but this clay is not very durable after it dries if your kid is gonna play with them afterward, I would not recommend. Arms and legs will easily break off under pressure. But overall a fine product. Good value for the fun.

My grandson loves the air clay. I bought these. My only complaint is I wish the amount they gave was bigger. I had to buy two packs.

My daughter was so happy to get this. I really like how they dry so quickly. I also like the variety of colors. I also haven't noticed any of my daughter's clothes getting stained from them. Thank God!!

If you are looking for a very light clay that is easy to handle, this is it. It does not stick to your hands. Our 11 year old son used it for a variety of objects (tree with leaves, ladder, bench etc.) for a school project. He used clear glue to attach the objects to build his diorama on a project display box. Three weeks later the project came home from school and everything is still in place. We kept the extra clay in Ziplog bags and it's still very moldable.

A very good gift for any kid at almost any age. Allows kids to use imagination and make a huge variety of practical or decorative objects. It’s lightweight which makes it accessible to kids who can’t work with plasticine. It’s been around for many years, and is more affordable than in the past, a bonus.
