HP Brown Sauce England, 10.05 Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4)

After returning to the USA from a trip to Ireland and Isle of Man I found myself longing for the bland non confrontational taste of the local cuisine that was available "across the pond". I stumbled upon HP whilst searching for another item on Amazon and just had to order. this stuff was in every pub and restaurant we went to and I drowned everything in it! Wonderful compliment to any meal! HP adds a kick much in the same way Stephen Hawking might add kick to a karate fight! put HP on any bland food and BAM!! you now have bland food! Very good taste that will most surely nudge your taste buds!

This is by far, one of my favorite condiments. I use it for just about everything. Specifically, it is superb on all types of meats, potatoes, and as a marinade along with other herbs, spices, etc. This sauce could easily be my favorite food related item from the UK. I cannot get this sauce where I live in the States, so I am grateful to be able to order this through Amazon. This sauce is very much related to your average steak sauce in the US, however; it has a subtle taste of raisin, apricot, citrus, is a bit tangy but with a little bit of spice.

My Grandparents were from England and we had this sauce since I was a kid. Great for meatloaf, corned beef sandwiches. So glad I found here.

OK ... I must be honest, I only got interested in "Brown" sauce from watching all the British series, such as Midsommer, Touch of Frost, Pie in the Sky, New Tricks,etc. We were in England several years ago, and during our visit, for some reason, we never came across brown sauce. SO ... I found it on Amazon, and ordered some. Not sure what to expect, but I waited with anticipation for its arrival. We even purchased some pork Brats to have with it. Well ... it came and it was very exciting to finally try brown sauce. OK .. not earth shattering, but it is good. I plan to use it VERY often. I will describe it as A1 steak sauce with a sweet tang. I like sweet condiments on meat, as they bring out the flavor of the meat by providing a sort of opposing enhancement. Never-the-less, I am very glad I tried it. My wife doesn't like it due to the sweetness aspect of the sauce, but that is fine, it just means more for me cause I don't gotta share..

I love the product, but this is the second time this year a glass container leaked/shattered, so I don't think I will order any more. It was well-packaged too, I just don't think the handling is always very good. It is a really great condiment in general though, hence the 5 star review, goes great with roast meat, cheese, sausage, burger, sandwiches.... and amazon customer service were great about refunding and a nice apology. I will look for plastic bottles next time though.

I love HP sauce, but it's not so readily available in the US, so I was glad I had the option of ordering it from Amazon. Unfortunately, the 4-pack I received was about two months from expiration, and it seems the expiration date is no joke. It has turned and it's absolutely vile tasting. Be aware that you may receive HP sauce as made for the Middle Eastern market; my bottles have Arabic writing printed all over them (in addition to English), and I don't know if that affects the content/flavor. Regardless, I wish I'd gotten the real deal with a bigger window of use before the product rotted. Won't be ordering my food items from Amazon again.
