Duralex Picardie Glass Tumblers French Bistro 18Pc Set

I read all of the reviews on this set before ordering and noted that many customers complained about glasses arriving broken due to poor packaging. Since I know the return procedure for Amazon to be pretty painless, I decided to go ahead and order and hope that I would not have the same issue. Unfortunately, my first set of glasses did arrive broken. I did not even open the box, because I could hear glass rattling around inside, but noted that they were indeed packaged very poorly, with nothing at all to pad the glasses. I simply printed a return authorization, closed the box again and had it picked up by UPS for a return - all covered, as usual, by amazon.Having ordered a set of their smallest glasses for my toddler separately, I knew I loved Duralex tumblers and still wanted these. So, unable to resist the price on this set, I tried again. This time I received one glass with a small chip in the rim, but all the rest are in perfect condition. I could have returned and tried yet again, but I figured this was a very small flaw and decided the good overall price made it worth keeping the whole set. These glasses are sturdy, attractive, and thanks to their stacking ability also easy to store in our compact kitchen. One reason I went with Duralex is that I'm rather clumsy and between my toddler and myself, at least two or three of these have been dropped already, on both our stone and hardwood floors. None have chipped, broken, or even become scratched from dropping. They are definitely not knockoffs, as a another reviewer suggested, and I see no flaws in any of my glasses aside from the one small chip. As long as you're not in a hurry, these are an excellent buy. Just be prepared to return if they break on their way to you!

I was a little wary of ordering this set because of the other reviews saying theirs arrived with some of the glasses broken but it was such a great deal that I couldn't pass it up! When I received my set, none of the tumblers were broken! I thought for a minute while I was unpacking the box that one of the 16.5 oz tumblers were broken because I heard clinking while I was trying to get the smaller box out of the bottom of the packaging (the 3 sets - 8 oz, 12 oz, and 16.5 oz were packed in separate smaller boxes in that order) and there are supposed to be dividers between the glasses. The crazy thing is that the glasses were shipped with VERY HEAVY Cast Iron  Lodge Logic L10SK3 12-Inch Pre-Seasoned Skillet  and  Lodge Logic 5-Quart Double Dutch Oven and Casserole with Skillet Cover . I was horrified when I received the shipping confirmation email and I was already expecting broken pieces but they all survived.The glasses did smell like sulfur like another reviewer mentioned on the  Duralex Picardie 16-7/8-Ounce Clear Tumbler, Set of 6  product page but after two hand washings, the smell is finally gone. I've compared this set with the 16.5 oz set that I bought before and they appear to be of the same quality. The glasses are a nice weight, sturdy and a joy to drink from! We use the 16.5 oz for water, iced tea and soda (what we drink most) during meals and the 12 oz for when we're just snacking (mostly milk and juice). We're planning to use the 8 oz for mixed drinks. The glasses stack very nicely but I don't stack them because our cupboard shelves are rather short.I'm planning on getting another set because we move a lot and we're bound to lose or break some of them.

After ordering these glass's, I read the reviews and was very disappointed in myself for not having read the reviews first. When FedEx showed up at my door today I had no doubt I would be returning my purchase due to damages expressed by past reviewers. And although I do not doubt any of the reviews I had read, I am so pleased to convey that what I found was, my order had been packed properly, not a single glass was damaged and, their was no odor what so ever. Thank god I read the reviews after I placed my order as I have no doubt that had I read them first, I would not have made this purchase. Instead, my glasses have been run thru the dishwasher and assumed their proper place in my cabinet and I could not be more thrilled with their appearance, quality and soon to be functionality! I will definitely be purchasing more Duralex products.

This is the third set of these glasses I have owned since the 1980's. They seem to las tfrom 10-15 years then start getting cloudy. They are very strong glasses. Three sets thirty years is quite a record. They seem a bit expensive but last so long that they compensate for the expense by not needing to be replaced but every ten years or so. I love them. I might add that one of them was broken when I received it and I think it had more to do with the manufacturer's packing than Amazon's. I am not returning the whole thing because I have a few left in that size.

I can't say enough that's positive about these glasses. They're weighty--just enough so that they don't turn over easily--and are durable and attractive. I ordered a different manufacturer's set seven months ago, and have endured so much unusual breakage that I've discarded the entire set and purchased the Duralex glasses. I should have bought them to start with. I have owned a set of Duralex square, stackable prep dishes for 15-20 years and have only broken one when I smashed it on a tile floor. The others have no chips or scratches and look new. I'm sticking with Duralex.

I've had a small set of Picardie glasses for years and they never chip or scratch, are heat- and cold-proof, and always look charmingly traditional/bistro in style, so when my other glassware started to break and age, I decided to treat myself to a full set of Duralex glasses. Hurray! It's great to have the same comfortable fit in hand, the stackability, and the simple ageless elegance waiting for me whenever I want a glass for anything. Including a little nosegay of flowers, because there's no reason not to extend the bistro atmosphere just a bit more when you can.

I had these 45 years ago and loved them. I was so happy to buy them again. Should be able to pass them on to my family.
