Excellent product!
I am so pleased with my Benriner Mandoline. It is easy to use and I really like its adjustability. Buy the Schwer cut resistant gloves because the blade is really sharp!

Just the one I needed!
Amazing—it arrived within the estimated time; it’s the type of mandoline I needed! I know it’s designed for larger produce—it’s a shame it doesn't offer other types of cuts; it’s just a slicer! …

Blade may not be stable
Nice & sharp (watch your knuckles & fingertips). 3 blade settings for different thickness. Little plastic triangle part broke off during gentle hand washing so now blade may not be stable. Not very well made.

Good quality
The first one I received was obviously previously used. Returned and received a replacement quickly. Works great. Sliced potatoes and onions easily thus far I did keep the box and after use store it in it to prevent accidents as it is very sharp .

Great slicer, with some minor drawbacks
I've only had this a couple weeks so I can't speak to its durability. That being said, I like it a lot! It slices soft tomatoes and hard onions equally well, and I imagine it slices anything softer than firewood. Some caveats: 1) The height adjuster requires a lot of manual assistance. The adjustment knob on the bottom isn't smooth at all - you have to push up or down on the cut surface to get it where you want it. The adustment knob won't even raise the cut surface. I have to manually push the cut surface up, then rotate the adjustment knob until it touches the bottom of the cut surface. Similarly, the adjustment knob doesn't lower the cut surface. I have to manually push down on the cut surface until it touches the adjustment knob. It would be nice if the adjustment knob directly connected to the cut surface instead of just acting as a "hard stop." Perhaps the action will loosen up over time, but the first impression is that the adjustment knob is very clunky. 2) The plastic safety guard works, but is easily damaged by the blade, which can reduce its effectiveness and leave plastic particles in your food. The tips of the safety guard, which insert into your food to hold it in place, are designed to glide just over the top of the blade. But, if you put any pressure on the safety guard, the tip ends get forced below blade level, and the blade slices off the tip ends. Those sliced off tip ends end up in your food, which is obviously undesirable. It would be nice if the tips were a bit shorter, but it would be even better if the tips were made of metal so they couldn't be sheared by the blade. This seems like a pretty big design flaw. Despite these caveats, I recommend this slicer. It easily slices hard onions with a swift straight motion. For softer produce like tomatoes, it slices pefectly with a slower "shimmy" technique. I put on a stainless steel chain-mail cut glove when using this slicer, and I suggest you do the same unless you are looking to slice off the tips of your fingers or worse.

Much cheaper and yet STILL more effective than the pricy models
I did a great deal of research on mandolines before selecting this product and it was WORTH IT! I wanted something I could dump in a drawer, ready for everything; no blades or cartridges to fiddle with. The Benriner from Japan is awesome, especially the "jumbo" model. It is wide enough to handle nearly any vegetable on hand. It is very sturdy and machined extremely well. No wobble, no ripples, no crooked lines that cheaper plastic models have. A blade is raised or lowered by a large dial under the body of the slicer to make it as thin as you wish. Take one of those monster size Russet potatoes and make paper chips super fast. Naturally, there is a slide handle to keep your fingernails out of the mix and though made of plastic, it has plenty of grip. I can't believe how lightly I can use it and still move the veggie through to the thinnest residual slice before discarding! This inexpensive slicer is used in commercial kitchens in Japan and THEY know a thing or two about veggie slicing! Yay, Benriner! Keep up the good work.

Blade all scratched up and not aligned out of the box
The blade was all scratched up and the bevel was not aligned out of the box. This means that cuts are wonky and I am even more likely to cut my fingers on the bits of the blade that are slightly raised. This looks like I was shipped a used product and not what I expect of a product that cost close to £70.
