Will handles extend out for more leverage

The handles do not extend. However this machine doesn’t depend on leverage. It is operated by a hydrolic pump.

Is it true that you cannot use this on tee fittings or only with certain brands?

I don't know but it is possible if you call them directly. Look for a customer service number in the directions

Will this work on a vertical water line that is tight to the wall (about 1.5" of space)? My concern is if I'll be able to get the jaw around the line.

If I'm understanding you question correctly, the pipe is out in front of a wall with 1.5" of space between the pipe and the wall. Then my answer would be yes, the tool can be wrapped around the fitting that you would be using. I tried the tool around a 3/4" copper pipe that was just a little too tight to get a 2x4 (1.5") between the pipe and the wall and I was able to easily wrap the jaw of the tool around the pipe. I also tried holding a 3/4" crimp fitting next to the pipe and the same distance out from the pipe and it seemed like that would have worked as well. I think this would also work on 1/2", 3/4" and 1" pipe as the thickness of the interchangeable die's walls very in thickness so the amount the jaw needs to open remains the same. In other words as long as the center line of the pipe is the same distance, as described in your question, aprox. 1 7/8") out from the wall, all three sizes of pipe that this tool is meant to work with will work. Hope this is of some help.
