Travel Trailer Lock, Black

Ad clearly stated the lock was manufactured by Fastec Industrial and the picture in the ad showed a lock with the standard FIC markings of a Fastec Industrial lockset. Unfortunately, what actually arrived did not have the same markings and was clearly not made by Fastec. Even worse, the keys were the reverse milling of an FIC key. I am a locksmith who purchased these locks for resale and, to the best of my knowledge, there is no key blank available for the reverse milling of an FIC key. What this means is that you will never be able to get a duplicate key or new key if you lose all your keys. I would never sell a lock like this to a customer so I chose to return them. Ultimately, all I got was inconvenience as a result of an inaccurate and misleading ad.

Some have commented that they did not receive a genuine Fastec replacement. Mine is apparently genuine but an updated model. The keys are different and the outside lock does not have the FIP logo like the latch that I am replacing. However, the Fastec website is cast into the inside of the latch. The lock set is high quality and I expect it to last.UPDATE: Like others, my deadbolt froze up after very little use. I could not insert a key from the outside or unlock from the inside. Has to disassemble the lock to get my door open. Total junk!

I purchased this lock last August. We have used the trailer once since I installed the lock. The rest of the time it has been stored. I went over today to get a few things out of the trailer. When I tried to unlock the deadbolt the key would not go into the lock. We ended up having the lock drilled out. I am glad I was not in a campground miles from home locked out of my trailer. I installed this brand because it was the same lock the trailer was fitted with from the factory in 2014. The last one failed because the deadbolt lock cylinder came out with the key. I later read there was a recall.

I purchased this item back in August 2017. The lower lock failed. Had to drill out to get into my trailer. Bad door lock. Looking for a way to send back. Things should last more then one year..... Was glad I had a DRILL with me. If you have one better take a drill. GOOD LUCK. And they wont take back........*****

Ordered in October, install November, FAILED in July. So just over six months after install the lower lock quit working. Will not allow the key to be inserted. The upper lock still works good. Also going inside we are not able to unlock the lower lock with the red dead bolt lever. I understand sometimes products fail, But my issue is with BigFly. Calling BigFly, she stated 30 warranty, but I found a number for Wesco/Fastec, the manufacture, and they said their products are warrantied 1 year but only through the distributor and Bigfly would need to issue a return request.

The listing says that it is a Fastec Industrial lockset. There are no FIC stamps anywhere on this unit. I do not believe that this is original. As for the unit, it looks very similar to the original. The 4 mounting screws that came with it are too short. I had to use the old unit's screws. The plastic inside deadbolt lever does not have a steel insert for extra strength as the original. It came with 4 unmarked keys and the grooves in the keys are not the same as the original. There was no stamps or markings inside the lock showing model number, key number or manufacturer. I installed this on a 2008 Jayco Jayfeather 23B. The original lock cam on the handle was broke off. I will keep my old unit for a while to make sure this one holds up. I just don't like the bait and switch.

As others have mentioned, this may not exactly be the FIC brand as everyone expected, but the product works just as expected. Took me roughly 5 minutes to install. Perfectly replaced my old door handle on my ThorCalifornia Tahoe toy hauler. Both keys worked for both locks, so I'm not quite sure what everyone else was on about in that regard.While you have the product in pieces, I would suggest adding some lubricant, such as Lucas silicon, to the locks, and their tumblers. This will help ensure that all rotating parts remain operational and smooth. I would suggest routinely cleaning out your handles once a year. Takes less than 10 minutes to disassemble, clean, lubricate, and reassemble your door handle. 10 minutes a year can save you $30 to replace.Great product!

I purchased this item and i installed it on my camper and in the 3rd trip the dead bolt broke, very disappointing, but Amazon came to rescue and refund my money, thank you amazon!!!. I definitely wouldn't recommend this item to anybody, bad quality. I camp 4 times a year, so if it breaks this quick, that tell you how bad it is. I hope you get a better result that I got.
