First impression with the precisionist movement
I have been waiting on Bulova to release a model that I remotely liked since they introduced the precisionist movement and this was the first one to meet the bill. The Snorkel is a homage to a model that was first introduced in the sixties. The watch has a more modern size coming in at 42mm. It is relatively thin, especially when compared to watches housing an automatic movement. The dial is a simple and has a slight sheen with minimal scripting. The raised indices are trimmed in chrome as is the framing of the date aperture. The lower crown screws down allowing of a 200m water resistance rating. The upper crown does not screw down and controls the movement of the internal bezel. The light orange color on the 0 - 20 section matches the second hand. The lugs are VERY short significantly limiting strap options. The second hand has a very nice sweeping motion akin to that of a watch with an automatic movement. It has remained dead on since I first set it.My only real gripe with the watch is the stock mesh bracelet. It is very flimsy and the one I receive was twisted at the factory. It came off the watch before I took the plastic off and was replaced with a heavier matte mesh strap that I had laying around. Vast improvement in my opinion. I expected a little better for a watch in this price range. In summary, I really like the watch and can see it becoming a regular part of my rotation. It is very comfortable and I like the retro vibe. It is a nice grab and go quartz watch that is incredible accurate. I will use it to set the time on my automatic time pieces.

A WINNER, SUPERB, MUST HAVE WATCH!
i have collected and sold fine vintage watches for 15 years now, owned new rolexes, omegas, IWC, etc...some of the finest timepieces one can purchase.that said, this ranks right up there with them. it is a superbly crafted timepiece with an amazing improved reproduction of the original groundbreaking but problematic bulova accutron movements, first sold in 1960 and lasting until the 1970s.a vast improvement in the design & reliability over the original with an acceptable drawback with the battery only lasting a year under fulltime use (crown can always be pulled out when not in use to save the battery). this may be the most accurate watch you can buy except for a satellite controlled timepiece, but otherwise it is it. MOST important to those of us who love watches, is the smooth sweeping second hand, even smoother than the original, which is the hallmark of the accutron movement and what allows us who love automatic/mechanical watches to accept this battery watch...it is just so high caliber and has the beauty, even surpasses the beauty, of a mechanical.as a watch collector and lover, i say this is a must. it is not just retro, but a fairly accurate reproduction of the ORIGINAL accutron snorkel deep sea. certainly a close enough repro to fool even watch collectors if they did not have them side by side. but really, it is an homage to the original, so exact reproduction is not necessary. with the chainlink bracelet, it is simply a stunning piece, worth probably 4 times the price here on amazon, or 3 times its list price.bigger than the original, as with most watches these days, it is like a trip back in time...and the inner moving timer bezel is a vintage delight. thank you bulova. you have your overdesigned models using this movement, most of which are grotesque...but much thanks for giving us watch lovers something from the past. your praises will be sung for this!

I love the look of this retro styled 60's watch - ...
I have had my Bulova Accutron II watch for tover wo years now and feel I can write a proper review.First, I love the look of this retro styled 60's watch - not perfect to the original hummer but a lot more durable and practical.Accuracy is one of the best of out of all my watch collection with a smooth hummer type sweep hand.I still have original battery in this watch - still working, I have been in 20 ft of water with no problems, so if you snorkel should be no problem.I wear it often at work and play and have not noticed anything more than normal wear on band or case - it is meant to be worn, not left in a watch case with your valuable watches. Now about that mesh watchband, I can see were others would change it out but I just took out 3 links and found it to be comfortable for me.The luminosity is less than adequate though, not nearly as good as my Orient Mako Diver or Seiko. So that is my review, considering the price, its ruggedness and good looks - had to give it 5 starsJust don't dive with it in the dark.

A Good Watch Despite a Few Disappointments
There is a lot to like in this watch. It keeps great time, has a great look with a unique style (albeit a recreation of the earlier classic) and is very reasonably price. Then there are a few things not to like. The watchband? Not really to my taste. It is probably best left in the 1960's. And the color of my watch differs markedly to the watch pictured. The one in the pictures is orange. Mine is a much lighter colour - it is yellow, more of a lemon colour than orange. And there is absolutely no lume on this watch. I wonder whether they were running short of orange paint and luminescent paint by the end of the production run. Nevertheless, despite these disappointments, it is a good watch for the price.

Beautiful Heartbreak
Loved the look of this watch but it turned out to be a real heartbreaker. Really beautiful piece up close. The orange accent is vibrant and really livens the piece up. Very clean polishing lines and smooth movement as well. The problem I had was that there were two significant pieces of white dust trapped beneath the crystal. Both were very visible against the black background of the watch face. I've owned many Bulova time pieces over the years and never come across this issue before. I hope it isn't an indication of any systemic quality issues. My only other criticism is that the mesh band tends to pull at the arm hair a bit. I'd recommend swapping the band for another style band all together or perhaps a mesh band of higher quality, if you so prefer the look.

Great time piece
Great time piece. Love the sweeping second-hand movement. But it is meant for a wrist size 7" or more or in my opinion.
