Since it was founded in 1922, the company has been run by the family, now in its third successful generation of master knife cutlers. With a team of over 20 members of staff and more than 800 different design models of knives, Arbalete Genes David represents the benchmark for creative design and won the much sought-after Industry award “Janus de l'Industrie” twice for its design, in 2009 and again 2010. In the 1940’s, Arbalete Genes David was the first who reinvigorated the famous pocket knife of Laguiole, and in so doing maintained an almost forgotten tradition. Arbalete G. David is a leading company in the market of artisans for French handmade Laguiole knives. Whilst remaining deeply attached to the local origin of the product, Gene David demonstrates his character. His entire product range is produced in the region of Thiers, in the Auvergne, which guarantees 100% French production. His craftsmen go on to sculpture, assemble, fabricate, create and polish, in the same way that their internal bond with the tradition of Laguiole demands, so that its existence will continue for evermore. * Handle from exquisite Serpentwood / Marblewood * Length of blade (cutting edge without ricasso): 92mm * Length of handle: 4 3/4" or 4.7 in * Blade made from 12C27 stainless steel * Bee and spring are forged in one piece * Spine and blade top are engraved (guilloché) * Delivered in a wooden box Horn is naturally and strongly grained, with grey and/or brown streaks. Horn belongs to the classical and one of the most primal materials for knife handles. It is a natural and renewable raw material. However, as more and more cattle without horns are bred, this raw material has become more scarce. These horn handles are polished by hand, and therefore become suitably dirt-repellent. Nevertheless, horn reacts sensitively to moisture and should therefore be dried carefully after cleaning. Like wood, horn adapts to variations in temperature and humidity.
