Size:1 oz / 28g CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THAT GORGEOUS GROWN-OUT GLOW ONLY BALAYAGE CAN CREATE? WE HAVE YOU COVERED! Introducing Joico FreePlay Clay Lightener, our first lightener that stays put and moist while you paint your way through the most creative Balayage and freehand techniques. Unlike traditional lighteners that can get messy during the open-air painting and processing necessary to pull off those coveted techniques, FreePlay’s clay-based formula clings to strands and leaves hair feeling nourished, giving you the control and freedom you need to lift hair up to 7 levels… without foils, swelling, flaking, dripping or dry-out! Features: Kaolin: This fine, naturally occurring clay gives FreePlay the flexibility to morph from a soft powder into a spreadable paste, making it ideal for thickening our clay lightener to your preferred consistency—with no product transfer! Aloe Leaf Juice: Helps keep hair moisturized during processing, so hair feels nourished and looks healthy post-service. TIPS * Visualize where you want the light in your design FIRST. * Keep it natural: Think about where the sun would lighten the hair naturally! * Start mid-length and sweep upward toward the root area, then downward toward the ends. * For an uber-natural sun-kissed look, sweep FreePlay into a V-shape (the V connecting and pointing toward the ends). Leave the center of your section natural and don’t paint all the way to the root. * Development time depends on both the condition of the hair and your desired level of lightness. * Check hair every 5-10 minutes during processing.

Very disappointing. Probably won’t buy again.
It was ok. Dries out really fast and turns chalky/flaky and gets EVERYWHERE! It also turned my very light brown (almost blonde) hair orange instead of a lighter blonde. I’m having to go to the salon to get it toned and fixed today (by the same hairstylist/cosmetologist who applied this lightener for me so its not an amateur at home hack job! A pro did it and it still came out crappy and orange!) Also, it didn’t come with the tint brush like it says it should on the item description AND on the product label pictured! Super disappointed that I spent full price and waited over a week for a product that didn’t come with everything promised and also didn’t come out as promised either. At least hair grows and color can be changed🤷🏼♀️

Licensed Cosmetologist
I'm always telling people not to buy products offline for styling. I'm not sure why I thought professional hair color would be ok, but I didn't want to make the trip to the licensed professional store. I am a licensed Cosmetologist and wanted to use this for a root touch up. Mixed with 40vol it didn't lift past orange

Great product
Love using this for balayage hair coloring. It really does make the process easier. Great product! The only drawback is the price.

Performs as intended, good texture
If you are using this product as indended - an open-air balayage application - it lightens evenly and has a beautiful texture for sitting on the surface of the hair. It’s definitely the best option for clay-based lighteners sold on Amazon.

Did not lighten to level indicated
This product did not lighten as many levels as indicated. I also did not receive the brush as indicated on the product description and on the product lid.

Don't think I'll buy it again
I used this product to dye my hair and it worked ok, it's very chalky and turns back into powder as it dries, we let it sit for an hour but it only lightened my hair a little. Kinda disappointed.
