Outstanding Fencer
I have had a number of electric fencers and so far my new Parmak is by far the very best. It puts out a strong charge and has a loud clicking sound that constantly reassures me that it is working. I live in the Pacific Northwest where it is fairly wet; however, this fencer has no problem delivering a charge throughout the line even in wet, damp conditions. The meter on the front is very helpful if something gets on the fence causing a grounding somewhere along the line. So far, I absolutely love this fencer and would buy another in coming years if needed. Before purchasing this unit, I read some of the one and two star reviews, and now I wonder how in the world they rated this unit in such a fashion. It is a great fencer and definitely worth the price. Additional Comments: I have now had this fencer for five months and it is working flawlessly! It is by far the best fencer I have owned in the 43 years of having cattle. I have close to ten miles of fencing, and it has held a strong charge throughout the entire fence even when raining and wet vegetation may accumulate on the wire. I also use heavy gauge barbed wire for my fence and it works great. I would definitely buy this fencer again and I highly recommend it to anyone. Update: This fencer is still working very well after a year. I will definitely buy this product again. It gets my highest recommendation.

Great value for the quality and performance.
Good value and price for a 6 joule energizer. Two bits of advice whether for this unit or some other brand; 1) Do NOT connect your fence charger to a GFI receptacle. Use a regular electrical receptacle or add good surge protector and plug the fence charger into that and then the surge protector into your GFI. 2) Make sure you have sufficient grounding for the size of your energizer. The recommended formula is "3 feet or rod for every joule". Admittedly, I decided on 12 feet of grounding for this 6 joule unit and it is functioning 100%. The next really dry spell will be the test if I need more. This unit replaced a 30+ year old Parmak energizer which served us well. The 3 year warranty is appreciated too. Highly recommended.

Good fence charger
I have always had good luck with Parmak fence chargers, this one is no exception. It is replacing a years-old Super Energizer 4, which has been good to me, but on the longer fences, tended to give only a weak spark towards the end of the line. This one has enough power (6 joules) to where it isn't a problem for me. Keep in mind that even though it SAYS it is a '50 mile' fencer, that only means it can carry a charge on 50 miles worth of wire, in perfect conditions, meaning no weeds, and on perfect insulators. However, it does at least give you a comparison to go by. My old fencer was rated for 30 miles, and in my conditions (not the best insulators, grass/weeds in the fence) it was getting weak with maybe 5 miles of fence. This one gives a strong spark, all the way to the end. Normally, I have a few calves walking under the electric fence, but so far this year, zero. I also really like the power indicator feature. I can tell at a glance if the fence is working normally, or if it a little weak, or completely grounded out. It is such a superior system, compared to the little blinking light that you can only see by standing right by the fencer, and 'shading' it with your hand, that I will never buy a fencer again, that does not have a gauge like this one (I also liked the one on the older Parmaks, which was a needle that would swing over to indicate fence condition). Lastly, a bit of advice. If all seems well with your fence, but it still seems weak, check your ground rod(s). I used to have all sorts of problems, until I installed a better system, with 3 interconnected ground rods, about 10 feet apart. After that, all I had sneak under my fence, were a few onery calves with extra-thick winter coats. Switching to this fencer, even eliminated that.

Works great on stubborn animals
Totally love this. Bought several solar powered one that kept failing and had low zapping power. This one is strong and has kept my determined bull in his pasture

Good long-term value
The Parmak Super Energizer 5 (SE5) is a solid, powerful ACโpowered electric fence energizer excellent for farms, ranches, and larger properties requiring up to ~50 miles of effective fencing. Its low impedance design, digital meter, and strong output make it reliable for both livestock containment and predator control. While proper installation (indoors and dry) and occasional setup tweaks are recommended, most users find it a dependable, highโperformance energizer with good longโterm value.

If you're not happy, it's probably the Grounding system...
I recently planted 750 drift roses in a very elaborate landscaping redo, in 3 different plantings. Total about 600 feet of perimeter, greatest separation 75 ft apart. Big job! The deer LOVE IT! They are in my roses every night. At least they're pruned for spring... I used the best components I could get - 12.5 ga hi voltage underground insulated alum. wire to connect everything, 16 ga braided alum wire for the runners (total 1200 ft run), steel T-Posts with plastic insulators. Most important, I live in a rocky ,sloping lot 80 ft from a lake. Due to rock, I had to use 2 ground rods, but only 4.5 ft deep into the ground - 5/8 inch copper plated steel ground rods. The ground is usually quite moist due to proximity to the lake. Ground rods only 6 ft from Parmak SE5 shocker. Hooked everything up, only 7.5K volts. Darn... Did some reading, and decided to beef up my ground. Ran a 10 ga braided copper wire from my electric breaker box to the ground rods, thence to the shocker. Voila! 15,000 volts!! Gonna have some curly haired deer around here! Seriously, your grounding quality is a make-or-break component of an electrified fence setup. If you are not happy with the end result, consider improving the electrical ground setup. I am completely pleased with this system, but have only used it a couple of nights. After a month or two, plan to post a follow-up. At this time, I would not hesitate to buy another of these - in fact, I will once my fruit trees are planted.

LEMON-BUYER BEWARE
Bought in February of this year. Didn't open the box until November. It worked for 2 days and then stopped working. Checked the fence, it's fine. Unplugged the ground and hot wires and plugged box back into wall outlet-display reads 3.5 then back to 0.0. They sold us a lemon. I was told by seller to contact the manufacturer who told me I can ship it to Missouri (of course I'd have to pay the shipping cost) and it'll take 30 days to repair. I've obviously had to buy a new unit (diff manufacturer) since bc I need a hot wire fence that works sooner than 30 days from now. What a waste of $200.

Get The Best
This company makes the best fence shockers in the business, and has for decades. Their service life is often ten years of constant use. Sometimes less. This unit might go thirty miles under ideal conditions, which most donโt have. 15โ deep grounding rods every mile, galvanized shock wire, etc. Who does that? We took down the wire and replaced with rope for safety. A horse was sliced open on the wire after charging the fence one day. The vet bill was more than the entire electric fence system. Rope is far safer and works fine, and cheaper in the long run considering potential stock damage. I have not tried a thirty mile rope run, but I doubt the unit would energize that far with rope. Only way to find out is to try it. Remotely, we have found the Parmak solar units to work well. Batteries must be changed every year. To sum it up, this unit is working fine and probably will for a decade. Customer service at Parmak is to talk with engineers who designed the thing.

Great product.
Great product. I sure keeps our pigs in line. Only thing that would make this product better is if the manufacture would waterproof the unit for direct use out doors. Having to place to unit in the barn and then get your HV fence line out is a bit of a pain. Other than the waterproofing the unit works very well and I would have no issue recommending this product.

This Fencer packs a punch (9KV/KJ at the wire or more)
Our old fencer died and we replaced it with a lower voltage (3 KW at the wire) fencer and it did not pack enough shock to keep our sows in their 1 acre area. After weeks of frustration, we purchased the Parmak SE5 Super Energizer because the reviews stated that it delivers a strong shock. Wow, did it deliver. Not only are the pigs finally contained to their 1 acre, but the sheep (with wool insulation to crawl under the electrified wire) won't even touch it. Great product. Note: cannot be stored outside, so if you need it to fence outside the barn, you need to buy a plastic 30 GAL square tote and drill holes through the sides so the charger stays water tight. Been using it 2 months without any issue.

Ouch
Works very well so far. We grounded it with 3 galvanized 6' rods spaced 10' apart. Gives a heck of a shock as we only have about an acre fenced so far. Will be doing another 2 acres+ this spring. We have had this for about 6 months and so far no problems at all.
