Q: will this fit an xl male?

Yeah I think it will, awesome apron

Q: Can this apron be washed in a machine or by hand? Or can it only be wiped due to the leather straps which look to be non-removable? Thanks

I've washed mine in a machine with no ill effect. The straps are canvas. The fixings and fittings are leather and brass. I feed the leather with a mixture of linseed oil and vinegar (2:1) to keep the leather supple. I expect the metal will eventually corrode but I only do a full wash if it is fully filthy.
