MUST Read for Prospective Candidates!!
As I embark on my search into the Medical Sales industry, I found this book very easy to follow and written in a very informative manner. I definitely plan to implement many of Mr. Sharpensteen's suggestions, from Resume preparation, interviewing techniques, to excelling in your new position.I found the brief comparison of Medical Sales/Medical Device Sales and Pharmaceutical Sales very interesting. A couple of friends in the industry have recommended to stay away from Pharmaceutical Sales, including a physician who stated that studies show very insignificant "benefits" from Pharma Rep's, whereas in Medical Sales you are actually interacting and educating the Physicians on different products/services. This reiterated my hesitation of Pharma Sales. The Steps in the Hiring Process were very beneficial highlighting what to expect from Telephone Screens, Interviews, Ride-alongs, and ultimately interviews with the Sales VP. I took note of the proposed questions for each type of interview, with a few questions I can honestly say I wouldn't automatically think of and will definitely use in the future.I appreciate the emphasis on the downfall of getting "comfortable" in your Sales Position when everything seems to be going well. I am interested in pursuing a successful sales career long-term and understand the importance of constantly working hard to land new clients while not letting your current clients fall by the wayside, no matter the size of the sale.I highly recommending reading this book if you are interested in getting into the Medical Sales field, it is a quick read and you will be thankful for all of the knowledge and advice you will gain!

Great information if you are a new or seasoned medical rep
Charles Sharpensteen's book is truly a complete guide to medical sales, whether you are a seasoned rep or trying to break into the industry. The book details how to prepare for a job in medical sales. It lists over ten websites for jobs and recruiters. The resume chapter is invaluable. You really need to have a stand-out resume to get a call back. Mr. Sharpensteen goes over the interview process in great detail. Then, there are several chapters dedicated to how to succeed in medical sales. It is a very competitive industry and once you land the job, you have to perform. And, for the medical rep who is seasoned and is looking to change companies or go into management, there is very good advice on how to navigate your career.I am a seasoned rep and will always use the book as a reference guide. This book is a must have for every medical sales rep or anyone interested in getting into medical sales.

The most horrible Book I have ever come across
This is a horrible book. It is a thin book about general cv writing, preparing for interview, face to face interviews, interview strategy, recruiter call etc. Almost all the book (95% save for 2 pages that listed some medical device companies) has no context of or are unrelated to medical sales. This is a ripped off. The title of the book "The Medical Sales Handbook for 2015" is fraudulently deceptive. I would advise Amazon to remove this book from its platform, less anymore Amazon user will be further duped by this ridiculous book.

Great primer for someone considering medical sales
I have been involved as a senior manager in the medical sales and distribution business for many years. I purchased the book as a gift for my nephew upon his graduation from college as he has always had a great personality and selling aptitude. I read the book before I gave it to him. I liked the writing style and I found it to have what I consider to be just the right mix of good common sense reminders, practical knowledge and sage advice for a newcomer. For what it's worth, the book evidently made a big impact on my nephew. He is now an associate rep working his way up the ladder with a major medical product provider.

keep searching
It was an ok book. Most of the information that's in there is common sense. Also thought that it would have been more pages. Read it in 30 minutes literally.

Not horrible...
As a sales professional, this book was useful for someone who does not have a Bachelors but would like to get in to the medical device sales industry.

A must read for someone researching the medical sales field
I’m thankful that Chuck has taken the time to share his years of experience in the field. As I transition careers “The Medical Sales Handbook” was an extremely insightful look into the world of medical sales. A must read if you’re looking to enter this rewarding sales field and looking for insider tips from someone who has experience in recruiting talent.

Not a complete guide
If this is a complete guide then it is well overpriced. This as the title describes it is merely a handbook. It is aimed specific for an American reader. If the author spends as much time narrating his professional career, you would think he would spend as much time going into the details and options that the reader is looking for, but spend enough time on the internet and you will gather as much information.

Expensive for the info
Was expecting the book to have more in depth information for the price.
