A concise "how to" for architect and designers.
Finally a book (two books) for the sole practitioner architect with relevant and usable information. I am working my way through both books a second time with a highlighter and taking lots of notes in a separate notebook. I have already used the book to push me over the edge in terms of changes to my business. I have had the foundations laid for a while now but lacked some basic and simple information to get going. One could get this information elsewhere in time consuming bits and pieces but Eric provides what I need here in one place and in a clear format. The first book is more inspirational (I've been a sole practitioner for 16 years already) and the second book has tons of very practical information but should be purchased and read together.

I would recommend this series to anyone interested in expanding their small business horizons.
As an entrepreneur and member of the architectural and construction industry, I found this two part series absolutely packed with useful, usable and easy concepts that were completely new to me. It teaches a simple way of thinking about your circumstances and seeing opportunity everywhere you look, rather than trading off your life a day at a time for someone else.I would recommend this series to anyone interested in expanding their small business horizons. The design community is its direct target, but the information transcends industries.

Helpful, but.
Helpful book, but I think it gets repetitive at many points, and it turns into an instruction manual for how to use certain websites and their features at other instances. Readers can figure out how to use a website on their own. Since the author explicitly recommends any author or designer to take their clients’ feedback into consideration, I would say the book would be better off without the instructions, and without the repetition. Other than that, it’s a good book.

A nice addition to anyone's library
I discovered Eric via You Tube and decided to purchase this book...I can tell you this book is a nice addition to your library. It does not take up a lot of space and it is rejoicing to read. I would recommend it to the beginner or anyone currently in the field.//Chuck

Packed
I try to read at least one book a month on the business of design. I have already had my own firm for 5 years as Mangrove Bay Design. We are an interior design and residential design firm. Eric taps into many principles I have incorporated already. I.found a few great nuggets in his resources. He was extremely organized and well thought out in his presentation and execution. I will read this one again a from the beginning

Another great read by Eric....
Eric's last book was uplifting and positively played into my emotional needs as an entrepreneur. This book gets down into the trenches and details of adding passive income to your business model. Well written, easy to follow, and full of great real-world case studies. Whether you are a sole practitioner, small business, or even larger business owner I highly recommend you read this book. When you've earn your first dollar while standing on the river fly-fishing you will realize the power of passive income. Thanks for another great read Eric!

Vol 1 was the "what" and "why", vol 2 is all about the "how".
I devoured Eric's excellent Volume 1 in the Architect + Entrepreneur series ( Architect and Entrepreneur: A Field Guide to Building, Branding, and Marketing Your Startup Design Business , so as soon as I knew the second volume was out I grabbed a copy. Volume 1 provides a lot of inspiration ("the "why") and detail (the "what") of starting your own entrepreneurial architecture practice in the digital age. Volume 2 swiftly follows up with in-depth guidance and case studies (the "how") for one specific aspect of entrepreneurial architecture practice: passive income. There is no comparable book that approaches passive income specifically from the perspective of an architect. (No, not even one by Pat Flynn, in case that thought crosses your mind.) The book covers useful background, the mindset needed and dives into affiliate marketing, advertising and several passive income generating products that architects should consider. It's clear, that for a variety of good reasons, Eric is avocating the products route and so he provides considerable more detail and guidance on this passive income stream over multiple chapters.Eric's writing is a pleasure to read and learn from. He crafts an exceptionally good mix of high-level guidance and very specific examples and details to learn from. Highly recommended for all architects and design practitioners.

I would recommend this book....
I am currently still finishing up this book, but it has really helped give me direction with contemplating a career future plan. I am currently an intern architect, happy with my job, but I would like to be a bit more mobile in the future and start my own business one day. My goal for 2016 is to get a blog up and running with the intent to turn it into a successful business. This book has made that vision not only a possibility, but a has given clear steps and ideas to make that vision become a reality (only if I act on it). It helps spark the imagination when trying to challenge the traditional business model for an architect to resonate with today's market place. Sometimes I feel that our profession is becoming irrelevant and Eric proves that we still have a place in the world. His ideas can apply to many business types, but it helps that it is architect-specific. I would recommend this book to anyone in the architecture field who wants to run their own business, even it if is not the transitional architecture firm.

Time to Grow that Architects business of your's
Ok so you have laid the ground work and things are ticking over nicely but you want to add PASSIVE income to your practice. Then this is the book for you. I have started offering a version of the Plan sets based on Eric's model and it works and fits more clients than i actually thought possible. and the nice part i still get an up sale on these. Eric goes through so many ways to up sell architectural products while expanding your practice you want to try it all at the same time. The Action steps are great to focus you at the end of each chapter. If your serious about growing your business into the online market then this is for you. Again a must purchase for all Architects.
