This is a beautiful book for any age
This is a beautiful book for any age. The pictures show the main character, a fox, acting out the words from the Prayer of St. Francis. I got this for my teenager for a Confirmation gift. She loves St. Francis. It would also be a wonderful way to teach young children. The illustrations are powerful and very appealing.

Wonderful guide teaches fundamental kindness and morality
My favorite book to gift and to read to young children. The illustrations encourage conversations about acts of kindness. The simple messages are powerful, memorable and universal.

Pretty illustrations to teach the prayer of St. Frances/ not overly religious
This is a sweet book for kids that is not overly religious but stresses St. Francis' role in helping the poor. It discusses his death but only in a historical way, and then goes onto large illustrations with the prayer of St. Francis. It has about 2 pages going over his life story that is all text, single spaced. Then, it goes onto color illustrations with about one sentence for every two pages of illustration. As we are not a very religious family and don't want our kids exposed to the crucifiction yet, this was a great Easter book for our kids.Curiously, the text part did not stress his interest in animals really at all, but mostly discussed his interest in giving up worldly goods and helping the poor-- although many of the illustrations feature animals.

Wonderful for children, young or old
The illustrator uses the wolf that St. Francis befriended as the teacher in this rendition of the beautiful prayer. This book is excellent for young children, whether they have it read to them or they are able to read it themselves.

Beautiful illustrations.
Super 'story' which my 5 and 6 year old children enjoyed and suited the purpose of our celebrating saints day.

Beautiful!
Having just returned from Assisi, I could not wait to read this prayer again. The illustrations are beautiful and the message stands for all time!

It's OK but not that great for kids
The artwork for this book is quite nice but the text is merely a repeat of the prayer of St. Francis. I thought that they would interpret it more for kids. My kids did not find it that interesting. We read it once and now it sits on my shelf.
