Immortals Fenyx Rising for Nintendo Switch

I'm a long time gamer (35+ years now since I got my original NES) but I'm not a huge gamer anymore. I began to see reviews of this game just before it came out in December and thought about preordering it. I was a huge fan of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and really enjoyed Skyrim, as well, so I liked the comparisons. After reading some reviews that were not as glowing as the others, I decided to wait a bit and I caught it on sale just before Christmas. I'm really happy that I decided to get it.The comparisons to BotW and Skyrim are spot on. It has all of the open world elements, though I was a little worried with how linear the first several minutes were, as well as very similar gameplay mechanics, but is simpler. There are no weather issues making it hard to climb things or broken weapons (an NPC actually makes a joke about this at one point), the inventory system is very simple with no worries about carrying too much weight, and there is not really anything to buy (you can exchange elektrum with Hermes after completing quests for him for what is mostly junk - visuals for your weapons and armor that don't really do anything). There are several different choices for your bow, sword, axe, and armor, with each option conferring different benefits. You level up the whole weapon/armor system together, so when you bow is at level 4, all of your bows are at level 4. There are also skill trees for abilities and godly powers that aid in combat and movement/exploration.Playing it on the Switch, the graphics aren't as good as they probably are on other systems, but I don't have the other systems to compare it to, so I don't really feel I'm missing anything there. Controls and gameplay mechanics are more important to me and both are great for this game. I do sometimes wish Zeus and Prometheus would talk a little less, but if you know Greek mythology - and I mean really know it - some of their jokes and asides go deep and are pretty funny.There is a nice balance of combat and puzzle solving. Many of the puzzles have somewhat subtle hints nearby that you learn to look for after you have done a few. My first few battles, especially with Achilles's wraith, were quite challenging until I got down the system of parrying and dodging attacks.I've probably put 30+ hours into it already and I'm nearing the end, but not quite there. There is so much to do and so much to explore and I'm in no rush to finish it. If you play the way I do, you will eventually (and somewhat quickly) reach a point where you have upgraded all of your weapons and abilities so far that Normal difficulty mode doesn't present much of a challenge anymore, so it is nice to be able to change the settings on the fly.

Fun game! It's interesting and navigating through the game is challenging and enjoyable.

This was my first open world game I’ve played where I was fully into it. I made it all the way to the snowy mountain and I’m stuck there. But I easily put 75 hrs in on the game, and I’m impressed. It’s simular to breath of the wild but yet, there’s something more to it. It’s kinda like an assassins creed but a more cartoon version. Very entertaining when you go threw the main story.For me, I was playing docked on my switch connected to my monitor threwout the first 65 hours. I will say, there are times it will glitch, and you’ll want to make a habit of saveing the game after important moments in the game. For example, I was finding the first god and it took me 5 hrs to get everything I needed, includeing getting her essence. This is the start of the game and it crashed. I had to turn back in my switch and continue, but it’s one of those times where I wished I would have saved it earlier.Graffics are what you would expect for the switch. There were times it was glitchy and times I’d get stuck on a part of the map. Besides my childlike gripes about the game, I really like the feature where you create a Ubisoft account. This allowed me to buy the same game for the Xbox and continue playing right where I left off, with better graffics and smoother gameplay. Very nice. I do like the whole idea with the switch, but what sucks is you need to be in wifi to play the game because you have to be connected to the Ubisoft account. So in a way it kinda defeats the purpose of portability.In conclusion, I liked the game but if I was to do it diffrent then I’d just buy it for the Xbox. But you will not be disappointed. If this Gen Z likes it, then you can bet your sweet pippy all generations will find it fun. Also they have Intresting dlc content and add ons that are really nice. 5 stars.

Well, yeah, it is in a lot of respects, but that doesn't mean it's not a ton of fun and worth a pick up.I enjoyed the clever writing and the map is large and visually interesting. I hold a wildly minority view point: I didn't love Breath of the Wild and only put 10 hours into it. Having said that, this game clearly used BOTW as inspiration and has lifted tons of things from that game. It's my opinion though that they changed enough to make it feel different. It doesn't take itself nearly as seriously and I didn't feel quite so under powered in the beginning of the game allowing me to get into the world more and enjoy the experience.It's not perfect, some times the mechanics of climbing or jumping don't feel as polished as they should, but they negative impacts from that were never game breaking or very frustrating to me.The map is varied and in turns beautiful and ugly as needed for the games story. The Greek narrative and world always have something interesting to reveal and the narration from Prometheus and Zeus is generally engaging and funny.Also, this games first 2 hours or so are a great example of how to pace the game and reveal features without having a super frustrating half an hour tutorial. I appreciate the time taken to make the first experience with the game fun and not painfully boring.Conclusion:If you played 100 hours of Zelda, this might be covered ground, but still a good time. If you didn't play BOTW or had some issues with it, this game is different enough to try. I put 30+ hours into the main story mode so far and think I will be picking up the DLC as I'm not done having a good time yet. This isn't a generation defining game, but it's a really good one.Caveat: You have to make a Ubisoft Connect account, I hate this so much and if I had remember Ubisoft was going to force that down my throat I might have not purchased that game.

The cover caught my eye and when I saw it on sale for $15 I picked up Immortals as something to hold me and my kids over till Breath of the Wild 2 came out since it looked similar. At first glance there are a LOT of similarities in play mechanics, graphics and a few other things but once you give it some time you see that while this may have pulled influence from games like BOTW, it has a really fun and addictive system and storyline in it's own right. I am thoroughly enjoying this game and will probably purchase another copy so I can take it with me while I am on the road, and with the Online Save function it's not a problem to transfer save files from one to another (I have heard of people transferring cross platform in reviews I have listened to, but have no personal experience about that). Throw in a surprisingly deep character and armor/weapon progression and upgrade system and you have an amazing game, though I think it will be overlooked because of some of the cheesy graphics at times.It's worth the money at full price, but REALLY gets to be a value when you can catch it on sale. If you like games like BOTW give it a shot.

Overall the game was fun, but a bit short in my opinion. Not nearly as good as Breath of the Wild, but fun it's own way. Super annoying ubisoft requires an account just to play the game (not just for accessing additional content) so that may hinder me from purchasing another game from them in the future. The game crashed on me many times, which is the first Switch game I've had such pervasive issues with. However, the game saves pretty frequently so I rarely had situations where I had a lot to make up. The game itself is begging for more purpose in many of the elements it delivers. For example, you get several new variations in the wings you have, but as far as I could figure out, none of them do anything special. Most of the other items you collect have specific features that enhance strategic gameplay so the wings were disappointing in that regard. The puzzles could have been a little harder, in particular as you reached other regions. For example, all the puzzle piece challenges had 4 pieces and were fairly easy to put together. Why not throw in some 6 piece ones further into the game? I also would have liked to see the tokens have more precise equivalence in the amount it takes to purchase all the upgrades. I think I had around 100 tokens left over with nothing to spend them on which takes some of the challenge out of needing to complete all the challenges to collect them. Having more side quests would have be fun too, and more varied. I really liked that you could collect different special looking 3 tier animals (mostly horses) as it became a side quest of its own to find them. Would have liked it even better if each horse had a special power to where you could use them in combat. It also would have been nice to be able to wield a weapon while riding animals. Despite all the things lacking, overall it's a really fun game to pass the time.

It really is a Breath of the Wild clone to be honest. But what it does differently, it does well.The combat is more of the focus in this game, and less reliant on weapon collection like in BotW. You have swords and an axe that are permanent. Enemies can be tough, but if you honed your skill with parrying and dodging, you could possibly take on the late game enemies, though it'll take a while without upgrading strength of your weapons.It's nice to just explore the world and take on enemies. It feels very rewarding to find things or take on a horde of enemies to reveal chests. And exploration plays very similar to Breath of the Wild. You can glide over distances or tame quadripeds for travel.There are also plenty of optional puzzles and temples for rewards if you're into that kinda thing.The writing, story, and voice acting is on par with everything else. But does excel in what I call "Scottish inspired wink" in terms of its humor. It's not overly funny, but it gets a smirk outta me from time to time.In all, if you're a fan of open world/ exploration games like BotW and want something slightly more combo based, this game is the ticket.

Al igual que todas las entregas multiplataformas tienes sus bondades y limitantes, siendo objetivo y consciente de lo que ofrece Nintendo Switch puedo enlistar lo siguiente:Bondades* Portabilidad, donde quieras, cuando quieras...* Mundo abierto, colorido, divertido y con mucho que hacer...* Actualizaciones a la par que otras plataformas...* Buenos graficos para la consola, abajo de breath of the wild pero no por ello malos, siento que es ridículo comparar versiones entre switch y las otras, cada una ofrece algo distinto, lo tengo para xbsx y ps5, y comparo los gráficos entre ellas las caidas de fps pero comparar esas de sobremesa con la switch es ilógico, poco objetivo y hasta ridículo.* Traducción buena en lo audible e impecable en todos los menús, interfaz, diálogos, etc.* Controles responsivos y configurables.* Música desenfadada y agradable.* Muchas misiones, muchos se quejan de la duración de muchos juegos, en particular éste es muy largo, muchas misiones, mucho que hacer y eso se agradece ya que no cansa ni frustra.* Buena complejidad, a medida que mejoras la dificultad aumenta en cualquier modo...* Satisfactorio.Limitantes* El sonido es poco potente, le falta un poco...* Las voces en español son de localización española y los chistes los cuentan con poca gracia,hace falta traducción Latina.* El guardado es tedioso en momentos, la red es el limitante.* Vincular tu cuenta de ubisoft sí o sí...sería bueno poder omitir....Es en muy buen título, largo, variado, entretenido y que si haces todas las misiones no usando guías o ayudas te llevas facil una 40 a 100 horas dependiendo de tu habilidad...Yo agradezco el gran esfuerzo plr llevarlo a switch y lo recomiendo ampliamente.

Very good game, similar to Zelda. Open world game with good graffics and storyline. Lots to do and collect. Would definitely recommend.
