Designers Impressions659632 Oil Rubbed Bronze Lift and Turn Drain Trim

From my experience, this replacement unit did not last anywhere as near as my original oiled bronze drain plug. I know I could be doing a better job at cleaning this with some copper polish cream and an old tooth brush, but my old drain plug didn't need as much care. My previous oiled bronze drain plug lasted several years before I had to replace it.The bronze finish on this Designers Impressions unit is thin. In about 6 months, the bronze finish is already chipping away and already giving way to spots of corrosion. It starts with hard water forming thin deposits, soap scum clings on to the deposits, moisture creeps into tiny scratches in the protective finish, then oxygen eats away at the moist exposed metal - rust.To be fair, we have very hard water. It is a challenge to find bathroom plumbing that resists corrosion long enough. With more care, I am sure this drain plug would last longer. But you know, a drain plug should not be one of my worries. Also, with the thin bronze finish, I am not sure if cleaning it frequently would be a good idea - a cleaner/polish's chemicals may actually erode the bronze finish and accelerate the corrosion.This Designers Impressions drain plug is not bad. It will work. But it is not doing so well in my bathtub.I am considering getting a more expensive $50'ish drain plug but I am not really certain if they are any better at resisting corrosion.

This product out of the box is what would be expected the ORB with a good brass drain piece (not plastic like so many). Installation is just unscrewing the current drain with a drain removal tool then screwing in this new piece. One note with this is that this type of drain has the post that drain plug rests on for the up position to allow the drain to be open. This post will cause the drain tool to not work. I have two different tools and neither one would work with this installation. This is not to say this drain is bad it is just to say know what you are ordering. I modified one of my drain tools that I had to work for this (drill press and 3/8 bit ;-) ).So far it is working well and looks great. I will say that I will update this review in the future if I see any issues with the ORB surfaces. If I do not post anything then it is still looking great and functioning well.

I like the color but installation or set it up not to fall back to the closed position is hard

I love the color which matched mynew shower set. I received two when I only needed on of these kits.I do need a plumber to install the tub drain part but it would have been easy to install if I had the strength to remove my old drain. I have a plumber coming and I can hardly wait to see the result.

It matched my faucet and shower head perfectly,besides being easy to install and a great price.

These are well-made and very nice looking. I do no recall there being any plastic parts and everything had a solid, heavy feel about them. I could not use the tub drain portion as it was larger than what my home used -- this is obviously no fault of the item. My home was built in 1993 and needed a 1 1/2" tub drain. I thought I had the newer one, but that's what I get for eyeballing it and making assumptions. So if this is going into a bit older house that may not use the larger piping (I believe it is a 2" pipe now) I would check the diameter before buying this.

I'm overjoyed with this! I made the mistake of removing my old drain and then finding out that it was bigger than most drains. Thanks to the reviewer who posted pictures of the dimensions, I was able to compare it with my old drain. Then, it came a day early so I only had to miss one day of shoveling. Thanks!

This was easy to install (at least from my vantage point as I supervised my husband), and they match nicely with the rest of my rubbed bronze/Venetian bronze bathroom fixtures. They've been installed for about a month, and they still look brand new. No signs of wear, or build up as some other reviewers experienced. I do clean the tub weekly though, so that might help prevent hard water build up on them. So far I am happy with the purchase!
