I would say without doubt doubt yes. If it can handle 100psi from a compressor, then it would easily handle mains water pressure.

Will these fit onto a standard threaded air valve, such as a tyre valve ??

No these are bigger fittings than tyre valves. They connect on hoses similar size to garden hose pipes. And connect to compressed air tools. I hope this helps you. Cheers
