a definite upgrade from what I had before
This has been a significant improvement over what came standard with professional-grade software (apparently I'm not allowed to mention brand names). I was surprised to find that getting tracks into and out of the plugin version required real-time playback. Their support mentions nothing about not being able to bounce the edits quickly like my software's built-in plugin does. This puts an annoying wrinkle in my workflow. The support team did answer my email within 24-hours.The macro for blanket timing adjustments is fabulous. I especially like that you can choose the degree of quantization, thereby assuring natural sounding adjustments. Invariably it misinterpreted one or two notes but those were easy to correct.Another wrinkle came in recording a violin track with double stops. That this version isn't designed to handle harmonic material makes some edits near impossible. Even when i chose the option of processing the track using a percussion algorithm, timing corrections introduced some weird artifacts at the doublestops. The only way I could find around it was complicated and time-consuming. Strangely enough this didn't happen when i processed rhythm guitar the same way.Overall, the timing and pitch corrections are more natural than what I had before and the time added by real time input and bouncing is compensated for time saved during edits.

Wish I had the full version, but this gets the job done
Someday I'll do the in-app upgrade to the full version, but for now this one takes care of my needs.I mainly use the standalone editor to clean up the pitch on vocals after recording.App works well and they allow 2 activations so I have it on my desktop and laptop. You can deauthorize whenever you need to so moving it to another computer is pretty easy. For fun max out the correction and you can make people sound like GLADOS.

Great for correcting pitch/timing of vocals
If you're using Melodyne to correct pitch and timing of vocals the ASSISTANT is probably all you need. Paying extra for EDITOR is probably an overkill. I love this program. I've done drastic pitch/timing corrections where the final vocals sound natural and not autotunny.

Easy To Use, Does The Job
Of all the "pitch correction" software I sampled in trial form Melodyne won hands down. Ease of installation, ease of use, and overall versatility make it a valuable tool for recording projects (the ridiculous "i-Lok" requirement of Melodyne's main competition is frankly a deal killer -- almost insulting). So, about Assistant -- be warned: once you begin using a software like this you won't stop. What at first was a need to rescue a novice vocalist is now employed on bass tracks, violin tracks, lead guitar tracks, horns, and even spoken word (I've gone as far as using Melodyne to "perfect" the timing of narration). Why it is I went with Melodyne Assistant instead of a more expensive version of Melodyne is that I assumed my recording only needed minimal help and all of the other bells and whistles would be overkill. This has so far proved to be correct. If not, an upgrade is always possible. Assistant does what I need. I can fix pitch (entire track or single notes within a track), alter modulation (increase vibrato or straighten out notes), fix pitch drift, alter timing, and adjust volume from one note to the next. What I like a lot is that Assistant includes the "formanting" capability which is an impressive feature. For my needs, the ability to alter formant is essential in creating believeable sounding "mutiple voices" when in reality I am recording a single vocalist and simply altering the tonal quality of their voice.I've given Assistant only four out of five stars because of two issues:1. The trial version was flawless, but when I went "official" and registered the product it began freezing up on closing. Meaning, it works perfectly; I can work, save, and render files -- except when I go to close the program, and then it often freezes up. This happens in "stand alone" mode and is a bit aggravating. No other program I use does this, so it's clearly a Melodyne issue.2. I have had a hard time getting Assistant to work in Acid Pro 7.0. It's there, showing up as a plugin, and I can lay it on a track, but that's as far as it goes. I cannot get it to function in "real tme". In truth, I haven't pursued this matter but intend to. I am generally content to work in Melodyne as a stand alone software, so it's not a major concern yet, but I'm certain there is a fix or something I am overlooking out of laziness. But the above issues have to be considered while taking into account the affordable price of this versatile software. If I weren't happy I'd be sure to say so, but this software makes me very happy.Great product.

Simply......Amazing
Yea so Melodyne..... Simply Amazing. I have bought like everything you can get from Antares (Company for Autotunes) and this is 4x better. The sound quality of this single plugin's tuning is unmatchable and not to mention it cut my work time in half if not more. Super easy to learn basically plug and go.

Excellent entry-level program
This may not have all the bells and whistles of the Melodyne Editor, but it is definitely an excellent and affordable starting point. It works great with any vocal type, and after just a couple hours of use, it becomes extremely easy to manipulate and handle. I highly recommend this product for all of your vocal editing needs!
