CAP Barbell Dumbbell and Kettlebell Storage Rack - Compact Weight Storage for Home Gym

I bought this Oct 15 2023. It arrived next day and I assembled it right away. It took 75 minutes working by myself at my basement workbench. Assembly by one person isn’t hard just time consuming. I used a half inch socket wrench together with the supplied Allen wrench. The pictures in instruction sheet were more than sufficient to guide me. One nut had damaged threads but I had extras in my workshop. This item is very solid. Good paint job. It is perfect for what I needed - enough holders for my large metal dumbells plus shelf space for other items. Note the 10 pound rubber coated dumbbell barely fits - this is made for the large metal ones. It sits solid on the floor but a toddler could possibly pull it over so know this if you have small children. I didn’t use the included rubber edging because it sits on carpet on bottom, and the top really doesn’t need it. I recommend this item.

I wanted better organization for my lighter dumbells and set of Bowflex Kettlebells and this rack has lived up to my expectations. Is it perfect? No, but in execution of what I hoped it would provide organization-wise-yes. Negatives first: One of the panels was missing a predrilled hole near a corner junction. If not for the fact I have a drill press and proper drill bits this would not have been an easy hole to drill in this location through this material. Also, if I had not been able the drill the hole at the exact location needed, assembly would have been impossible and the rack would have been returned. I did not appreciate having to use significantly more of my time and expertise to assemble this item because of a factory error. It was a pain, I think most people would have returned the item. Next, the rubber sleeves that mount on the side racks to cradle and protect the dumbells/dumbell grips easily slip off and can be easy to lose. It would be nice if an extra step was taken at the factory to glue these to the racks. Lastly, as many reviewers have mentioned the racks will not hold all dumbells, especially the fully overmolded ones. Mine fit great and seat in the racks properly but I had a good idea they would based on previous reviews of this item. For the good: I really like the small footprint and the extra sorge in the middle. I was hoping that there was enough room in the middle top and bottom tray to store my Boxflex Kettlebells. They fit, but it's a tight fit lifting out the one on the bottom tray. It would be great if CAP included the internal dimensions of the tray since kettlebells come in all shapes and sizes and some just may not fit. Bottom line, I'm glad I bought this particular dumbell storgae soloution, it is very sturdy and stable and will hold much, much, more than I use it for. It looks and functions like a quality piece of home gym kit. ***Pro Tip*** During assembly leave everything just a little loose until you have all the pieces put together then start fully tightening while sitting on a flat surface otherwise your rack may not sit flush to ground and could wobble.

I love this dumbbell rack, very strong and sturdy just what I was looking for. It fits more than just dumbbells, keeps all my weights organized and accessible. The only downside is it doesn’t fit all dumbbells especially vinyl covered as most aren’t long enough to fit across into the allotted groves, as it’s more made for the rugular (black & silver dumbbells that you find at gyms). Neither my 5 & 8 lbs dumbbells can fit, which was not a problem for me thanks to the added shelves. And I only wanted to put 10-20lbs weights along the sides anyway. But luckily I was able to find all those lovely colorful vinyl covered dumbbells on Amazon that fits great. So if your like me and want colorful weights and not those boring black ones these are great options not sure about other brands. This dumbbell rack was rather easy to assemble don’t even need a manual and that’s not easy for a female to say (we love our manuals). However it’s not a one mans job to assemble you’ll definitely need the strength of a mans to tighten the bolts or whatever those things are called. And to help hold the pieces in place to be tightened.

This weight rack is the best of both worlds. It can hold four sets of weights on the sides, plus it has two adequately-sized shelves for weight plates, neoprene dumbbells, resistance bands or other small to medium-sized equipment. Although, it’s not the easiest to put together, once it’s built, it’s super sleek, compact, and nicely complements a workout area. If you are looking to purchase it, keep in mind it will take two people to assemble the rack. I love that it keeps my weights up off the floor without taking up a lot of space in my fitness area. I would highly recommend this weight rack to anyone who is looking for a storage system that can hold more than dumbbells.

Easy assembly, excellent value, and well made steel rack for kettle and barbells. For a home gym, highly recommend CAP. Quality ensured correct number of pieces.

I was hesitant about this product given the mixed reviews. Let's start with the bad: one of the screws was stripped and they do not give you any extra parts, so I was not able to use one of the screws and had to decide which part of the rack could go without it. One of the corners of the shelf that goes in the middle of the rack was warped/twisted, and despite my strongest attempts with my hands and a wrench, I could not get the steel plate to budge. Because it's shaped incorrectly, it doesn't screw together flush against against another piece. All of the parts for this MUST be assembled with the provided hex key, but since everything spins around as you screw it together, you also need a wrench to hold the other side still. This made it extremely difficult to assemble alone and my hands were literally hurting for days afterwards because of how tightly I had to hold the tools and screw everything together. I tried calling their provided customer service phone number about 8 times to try to get new pieces sent to me, but the phone just rings and rings endlessly and no one ever picks up (and I called during their listed hours of service on a few separate days). Also, the rubber pieces that go on the top of the rack are pretty cheap and do not mold well to the curves of the rack. Overall, I found this item to be more difficult and frustrating to assemble than 99% of the IKEA furniture I've assembled in my life. Now the good: it holds my weights. Well, most of them. My smaller weights do not fit on the rack, as it is slightly too wide, but they fit well on the bottom shelf. I like that there is space for other small items besides weights, and it is a good size/shape for my space. Oh, and it was fairly inexpensive, so I guess you get what you pay for.

Pictures show 2 x Amazon Basics 30# dumbbells, 2 x Ignite 15# dumbbells, 53# Rogue kettlebell, 20# GoRuck plate, Rogue jump rope pouch, and yoga blocks. Fits dumbbells with 5” or larger handle (measured between heads). Two yoga blocks OR a Rogue jump rope bag fit neatly in the top compartment. 20# GoRuck plate lays on top, not very graceful but you can’t have it all. I tested the 30# dumbbells on top of each other and the heads don’t touch. Bigger heads probably would. Would have been nice to have a removable rubber sheet to lay in the storage compartments so you don’t scratch the powder coat. Tricky to assemble solo unless you have three hands. Little tabs to hold it temporarily together while you tighten the bolts would have been nice. Manufacturer DOES NOT supply the ½” wrench you need, not even the cheap kind you throw away when you’re done. NO extra hardware, so don’t drop anything. Instructions do list the specific types of hardware, so if something falls off in the moving van you can get a replacement at the hardware store – unless you throw the instructions away. Feels a little flimsy when assembled, but I guess it doesn’t have to run up and down stairs. Once loaded, it seems stable. Inserts in the dumbbell sleeves are rubber not plastic, which is nice since they seem more likely to stay put. Plastic ones just fall out all the time. Total footprint with the 30# dumbbells pictured is 23”x13”.

This is NOT worth the money. It is extremely tedious to assemble. Not difficult, just tedious. Mine didn’t even come with all the parts. But the worst part is it is very wobbly to the point that I’m not sure it can reliably hold weights. If it weren’t so time consuming to assemble I might disassemble and return it. But I have to decide if my time is worth it, which is an indicator of a failure of a product and sham of a sale. DO NOT BUY!

It’s a good stand. Liked the shape and how compact it is. It stores a good amount of weights and gear. The only negative is the protective rubber strips that slip off or move around when you add or remove a weight. It doesn’t affect its core function, just a tad annoying, so still rating it a 5.

This did take me a little while to figure out .. the pieces are all numbered in the diagram .. example .. #1 Left Main Frame .. #2 Right Main Frame .. #3 is the Connection Square Pieces .. #4 Connection Pieces .. once I came familiar with all the numbers and name of the parts then I went to the diagram of assembly .. only three tools were needed .. the Allen Key they supplied .. not included, but suggested which I used .. Crescent Wrench .. Ratchet Wrench .. the ratchet wrench didn’t fit under the bottom shelf so I had to use the crescent adjustable wrench be careful not to over tighten which I did and the bolt sheared off .. I did read somewhere that if you need extra bolts or washer or missing some parts there was a phone number to call so I will try that .. will follow up to let you know how I made out .. it’s designed to hold four sets of weights .. which is all I needed 10 lbs .. 8lbs .. 5lbs .. 4lbs Also nice to have Two shelves to hold Extras as you can see in the photos .. my smaller 4 lbs coated weights do not saddle in the holder.. inside inside width measures 41/8” .. I did find when it is put together securely and tightened .. It was just a sturdy as it needed to be .. seeing I keep these in my front room .. and I just had a handful of them stored in a small box .. this is just what I needed to keep the area tidy and organized .. happy to have found this .. STURDY AND GOOD QUALITY
