Rock Rhythm Guitar Playing: The Complete Rock Guitar Rhythm Method (Learn How to Play Rock Guitar)

Not quite as good as some of the other titles I've purchased from Fundamental Changes, but still good enough to rate 4 stars. The book consists of a lot of exercises aimed at breaking you into some more complex rhythms than you might be used to as a complete beginner. This is interspersed with examples of rhythmic ideas and riffs that are sometimes from actual songs or "in the style of". It ends with a historical overview of the evolution of rock rhythm guitar over the decades, including examples that you can try out and lists of important songs. Rather than being complete as the title says, I'd say it's more of a foundation to prepare you for further explorations. With that in mind, it's good for what it is.

Will tighten up your right hand rhythm technique in no time.This book starts out with really simple strumming patterns but gradually builds up to incorporating palm mutes and 16th note rests. Melodies or chords more complicated than power chords are absent in this installment of the series. Instead you are given intense focus on lessons that will keep you on beat and allow you to easily string together rhythms in your own style once you've spent some time with it.For those wondering, it does get theory intensive a 3rd of the way through but listening to the isolated tracks and working through the exercises with a metronome can allow anyone to learn the lessons without having to learn every part of the music staff.

Like so many other reviewers have said, Joseph Alexander’s books are the bomb! They are logically laid out and progress through increasing levels of competence. This is the first book of his I have purchased and I plan to purchase others. I wish these were available back in HS when I was trying to learn “licks for chicks” Ha! My particular focus is on rhythm guitar, both rock and blues. And perhaps I will delve into some jazz! I feel like I could accomplish that with his help. Thanks Joseph!

This book will take you on an amazing journey for rock rhythm guitar playing. Step by step, you will learn the most fundamental rhythm and apply them with great sounding examples. Cranking up your amp and playing those examples will bring you tremendous pleasure.

I've only been working through this book for a couple of weeks but it offers a great approach to improving my rhythm playing. Logical explanations followed by great exercises with audio examples to make sure I am doing things correctly. This is the third book by Mr. Alexander that I have purchased and it won't be my last. Highly recommended.

Great book! I really like the approach Joseph Alexander takes with his books. I’m a guitar beginner though I played classical piano when I was young. Learning chord structure is important to me. This is my 3rd of Alexander’s books and I’ll be buying more.

Virtually every time I practice, I come up with a few ideas to my own library of rhythms.The examples are pretty simple, but versatile and groovy. Will definitely become my handbook for rhythm playing for the future.Strongly recommend for everyone already having some expirence with guitar, but stuck with own creativity.

Worst books ever. I bought 6 o them and all of the are pretty bad. First of all they’re not “methods” as they sell them, they are random “examples” that you can or cannot do if you don’t want to. They don’t even call them “exercises”. Extremely bad. Seriously I don’t understand why so much hype on internet about this editorial. This review is for all of them.

Author breaks it down really well and very easy to follow . I have benefitted greatly and can now play 16th note rhythm with rest and ties. Well worth the price . I paid for. Will definitely buy more of his titles
