The sweetest and sad story ever with humble and beautiful language.
I read this book when I was child. It was my mom's book. Then I read it again when teenager and adult. Always cried soooo much and at the same time makes my heart warm. Zeze, the principal character, is so simple, so humble, an innocent child that passed through so many things at a young age. To see things from a childs perspective is always magical, sweet and funny. Prepare your tissues, as humble as it is, it is also sad. And beautiful.

This book could thaw the coldest of hearts
Did I like this book? I LOVED this book. This book could thaw the coldest of hearts. If it doesn’t, you don’t have one, it’s probably just a dusty ole rock. The first chapter was my only issue, it was a bit slow. Other than that it sucked me in. I made the mistake of reading this on a plane. Terribly embarrassing crying quietly in a corner lol! It’s told from the perspective of a young boy. He’s bright and imaginative and a bit naughty. He has the misfortune of being from a family stressed by the burden of poverty. It causes them to be cruel to him and he’s so lacking in affection he turns to loving his sweet orange tree and going to it for affection and attention .During the course of this book he meets three adults: a singer, a teacher, and a father figure that see the best in him. The last one I mentioned brings out a beautiful change in him . This book is bitter sweet . It’s the combination of the two that make it a classic. I’m so pleased it’s been printed in English once more for my sake.

Beautiful and speaks to the very heart
This is a beautifully translated heart-warming and heart-rending work. Zeze is a memorable child protagonist who deals with his problems by talking to an orange tree. It is imaginative. He also gains new friends along the way. All this against the backdrop of 1930s Brazil and its difficult social conditions. Zeze is generally misunderstood by his surroundings but talking to his orange tree and other people help him learn tenderness. It's a delightful classic.

I cried more with this book than with any romance, that included the notebook and we all know what the notebook can do to someone.
I absolutely love this book. It is another one of those books that is able to show how a child really feels. I disliked the fact that it made me cry like an actually baby for the second half of the book. It is such a wonderful story that is in no world not real. I recommend to anyone but I would be careful with children. As the book mentions over and over, little kids’ innocence should be kept at the purest state they can be at. This should be a mandatory book at schools.

Amazing and emotional
My Sweet Orange Tree is an amazing book that expresses the mind of a troubled child exquisitely. It is about a child called Zezé who knows lots but not all. If you are looking for a great experience with a book, this is the perfect one to jump into.
