Why does the paste to harden as soon as its put on the the brush? It took a while to lather and the texture seemed kind of odd!

You've obviously been used to using toothpaste with preservatives, SLEs, SLS and other nasty ingredients. Biomed is natural, that's why it hardens and may have a different texture to other brands. The reason it doesn't lather much is because it doesn't have sodium lauryl sulfate in it, which is the carcinogenic chemical that is added to most products that foam and lather.
