Sounds good!
I got this as a gift to replace a broken ihome clock radio, and I have to say it is well worth the upgraded price. For a small speaker clock the sound is really good, with some decent bass and overall accurate tone. The ambient light in the back was not needed but creates a great effect. This was for my Mom, and after setting some things up for her, it was easy for her to figure out and use. There is a small battery in the bottom to keep your programmed settings if the power goes out, and the USB slots on the sides are strictly for charging and not playing music, which is fine because the Bluetooth works well.

Great clock, would purchase again
Really nice clock radio. The auto brightness and bluetooth round out the impressive features. Sound quality is also great. If I had to pick a con, it is not the most intuitive to program. Even so, it's still a great clock radio

Great Alarm clock radio
As a pure alarm clock I'd give it 4 because of the difficulty in finding the button to turn it off when you wake up in a haze and awkwardly reach onto the night stand trying not to wake your wife...as a clock radio it is great for its size. The Bluetooth is nice and the sound quality on par with JBL standards, is very good for a small radio. It is loud enough to fill our bedroom with nice sound. The clock lighting is nice, it brightens and dims based on the light in the room. At night it is just bright enough to see the time when you wake up, but not anywhere near the level of a night light, very little to no ambient light at night. I reviewed many alarm clocks, this one was a great purchase.

Honest review
The media could not be loaded. I super love this. A bit disappointed at first coz i thought this is really wireless like i can use it without plugging it in but NO. It’s only wireless in the sense that you can connect fm radio and your music playlist form a device using bluetooth. But still i really like it the sound, the color, and the light.

I'm surprised the average of all reviews isn't higher!
It seems many of the complaints stem from people not reading the quick start instruction manual. Following their set up guide, it took me no more than 15 minutes to complete the initial set up, set alarms, pair Bluetooth, preset my radio stations, and to figure out what all the features can do . Yes, you can turn on/off/dim display as well as turn on/off the music. It has a cool mirror finish and can even be used as a mirror when the display is off. It's just the right size - not too big nor too small. I love that there's 2 charging ports on the side and it charged up my iPhone 7+ pretty quickly. This is going on my bedside table, so I don't need the sound quality to rival a concert hall. However, I didn't want cheapo $20-sounding speakers, either. I like JBL, the price was right, the specs were perfect for me. Cons - none that mattered to me...no AM Radio? Don't care, wouldn't tune to that for bedside listening, anyway.

Nice idea, if only it worked properly
I was so excited to receive this item, as it had everything I was looking for in an alarm clock: blue booth connectivity, a wake up light, FM radio, a nice design, and display screen that was not too bright. However, it fell short in just about every one of these areas.Speaker quality: not the greatest but the least of my complaintsWake up light: just turns on, does not gradually get lighter as others doFM radio: dial only goes from 76.0 to 90.0 making it completely useless as a radioBlue tooth connectivity: works okay when you're streaming music, but does not work with the alarm clock.I really wanted to be able to wake up to music, but this has not allowed for that since I cannot tune it to an actual radio station and even when I set it to bluetooth option on the alarm clock it will not connect to wake me up. This basically can only be used as a regular alarm clock and a mediocre bluetooth speaker.

Autodim function renders the clock useless
The JBL Horizon in my opinion has the potential to be a great clock but not in its current design. The clock is well made, look nice and has great sound but has two flaws. The first and most serious is the auto dimming function. At times, the clock display automatically dims itself to the point you cannot read it unless you get within 12" away. The second flaw is that the display has a great deal of glare. So looking at the clock from angles makes the display tough to read at times.I purchased the clock and returned for a replacement as I figured, I must have received a clock with a faulty autodim function. The replacement clock did the exact same thing so I then realized it is the intended design and had to return that one as well. What good is a clock if you cannot read the display at times. The engineers ought to modify the design to provide a manual display brightness adjustment or eliminate the autodim function which renders the clock useless.

Why is it so hard to find a good alarm clock?
90% of alarm clocks are cheap crap. They have half a watt of power, a crap speaker, and flimsy construction. I am totally willing to pay $150-$200 for a quality alarm clock if it has good sound, quality construction, and extra features like Bluetooth and HD radio. This clock had a lot of potential. It has good sound. The antenna reception is not great but it is OK. The construction is solid. I like the light that comes on with the alarm and the USB charging ports. Another bonus is it really looks good. The problem is the controls were hidden to make the clock look good. They are hard to see and you can’t feel them in the dark. It is very hard to do things like turn the radio on and off or turn off the alarm. You can’t see or feel the buttons well in a dark room. I end up picking the thing up to read controls every morning to turn the dam thing off. This is a mess because I like using the USB ports to charge my iPad, so picking the clock up makes things fall off my night stand and it is a pain. So, I ask again why can’t anyone make a high quality alarm clock that is not defective? This one could have been great if the controls were easier to see and feel.
