This book was a big disappointment. I was ready for a thriller trying to find Sophie and her kidnapper. What I got was a book full of terrible characters with no redeemable qualities. After Sophie got kidnapped it pretty quickly morphed into a history lesson of her and her husband's life but nothing was relevant to her kidnapping. It was a bunch of cheating adults who refuse to take any responsibility for their infidelity. And to top it all off, after Sophie is gone, Adam decides he can't raise his 3 year old daughter without her and wants to put her up for adoption. Once this happened, I couldn't feel even a little bit sorry for Adam's character. Do yourself a favor and skip this poorly written book that ended up being a total waste of time. I literally couldn't power through the last two hours of the audiobook.

Things are not what they seem...
In his latest amazing novel, Gregg Olsen knows exactly how to keep the reader on edge the entire time. A seemingly happy family, Adam, Sophie and Aubrey Warner are the victims of a terrible crime, while on vacation at Hood Canal, Washington. "Lying Next To Me" had a way of making me want to keep reading at the end of each chapter, to find out the latest information that Detective Lee Husemann had discovered about the case. There's a subtle twist at the very end of the book! I have already recommended this book to several friends.

Not What I Consider Entertaining
I did not like the adult content and offensive language used. While I realize this is the morality we are assaulted with today in TV shows and in the news; that this is the language that we hear on the streets everyday, I find it offensive and wish I had not spent money on this book.

If you love mysteries...
You will love Lying Next To Me.I was completely immersed from page one. The action started up immediately and had me hooked till the end. I especially enjoy the local aspect. I’m a Washington girl and it tickles me to be able to relate to the scenes in his books. The author is amazing at setting a scene. No detail is skipped over. I can smell the salt air; hear the oars hitting the water as Adam frantically tries to reach Sophie. I can hear the glass breaking and the gravel under the abductors shoes as he grabs Adams wife and disappears behind the cabin.Gregg has a way of writing characters that you fall in love with, or hate immediately.Excellent plot. inticing characters. And there’s always that unexpected twist. Damn that twist. In conclusion, I enjoyed this book very much and am looking forward to “If You Tell...” which comes out in November.

Riveting!
I dislike writing reviews on books... but this book was fantastic.. I was all over the place with who I suspected was the killer. I had a hard time putting it down. Very well written, great characters and I loved the setting! Going to look for more books by this author!

Wow, what a thriller
Oh my gosh, this thriller had me guessing throughout. Just when I thought I knew "who did it" that all changed. I put my best detective hat on and still could not come to a final conclusion. The ending was perfect. I really enjoy the fact that the author goes into the persona of each individual dominant character in the book. Made it so interesting. It all starts with a missing wife and goes from there. Without revealing anything else, this is a must read from one of my favorite authors.

Awesome Thriller!!!
Another great Olsen book! Absolutely love this style of writing. Each chapter is told in the perspective of one of the characters. Horrible tragedy on the Hood Canal. Lies. Cover ups. Guilt. Wow this book had so many twists and turns it really kept you wondering! Definitely recommend this book to all crime buffs!

So good to read a well crafted and brilliantly written book
This is the first book I have read by this author and I will definitely be putting him on my reading list! You think you have the plot all worked out, when in reality you are being led on an excellently plotted journey that twists and turns, until he decides that the book is ended. A terrific read.

A very twisted tale
This was the kind of book difficult to put down. I spent a great deal with the “did he or didn’t he?” then thought of another prime suspect and still got it wrong. A story that will keep you guessing as no one is who you think they are. Brilliant!

An interesting read
Many twists and turns in this well written story. I'm not usually a fan of jumping backwards and forwards in time but the way the author did this, using different characters perspectives, was interestig and helped the story unravel.

Good read
Good read at the moment as I haven’t read it all yet, keeps you thinking who could the culprit be, which I love cuz I like to guess who it is that kidnapped and killed his wife and at the moment, I have no idea so absolutely love it

Good mystery thriller.
Really liked this book, which kept me guessing pretty much all the way through. Left me a little bit sad at the end for some reason; maybe it was the thought of the little girl in it that had that effect.
